PIANO WITH TIM
Updated 9 days ago
Born in London in 1966 to South African parents, Tim began studying the piano at the age of 5. Educated at University College School, Hampstead, Tim read music at the Birmingham Conservatoire (where he specialised in both the piano and harpsichord), before completing his postgraduate studies at Sheffield University. Amongst his piano teachers were Malcolm Wilson (Head of Keyboard at Birmingham Conservatoire), Margaret Newman (former protégé and duo partner of the great Viennese pianist and teacher, Josef Weingarten, himself a former pupil of Bela Bartok and Zoltan Kodaly) and, most recently, Philip Fowke, former head of keyboard at Trinity College of Music. Tim held teaching posts at both King's School, Rochester, Kent and the American School inLondon, before setting up his private studio in Hampstead Garden Suburb (very close to Golders Green, East Finchley or Muswell Hill) where he is much in demand as a private piano teacher.
