Andy Thompson

Andy (QTS) is currently teaching maths at Notre Dame School in Plymouth. He is a fully qualified secondary school maths teacher and has held various responsibilities within both the department and the wider school in various schools. Andy has been recognised within the teaching community for producing engaging and high quality resources; some of which have been endorsed by nationally renowned maths teachers. In addition, Andy has a fully enhanced up to date DBS certificate.

Chris Perkins

Chris Perkins is an extremely experienced teacher, tutor and ex-Head of Chemistry. He has has worked in both state schools and private schools and has taught and tutored A-level chemistry since 1995. Chris has consequently helped countless students to achieve the high grades they often need for university entrance. Moreover, Chris has a fully enhanced up to date DBS certificate. Chris started playing drums in 1980 and has played in various bands and also orchestras across the UK and Europe. He has been a private drum tutor since 2007 and as a result, has taught many students across the age and ability range. Previous students have achieved Grade 8 with distinction, taken rockschool diplomas and progressed to study drums in London. One ex-student has also gone on to teach drums. In addition, he has a fully enhanced up to date DBS certificate.

Diana Hillman

Diana obtained her B.A. in music at Dartington College of Arts in 2001 and have been teaching piano, voice and theory for 20 years. She lived in Ottawa Canada for 7 years, using the Royal Conservatory of Music Examination (RCM) board. Now living back in the UK, she offers pupils the opportunity to take exams with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) examination board from grade 1 to 8 in piano, singing and music theory.

Helen Ryder

Helen is a very experienced teacher of A-Levels in Criminology and Psychology. She has 30+ years of teaching in comprehensive schools and has been Head of Human Sciences at Ivybridge since 2005. She has a fully enhanced up to date DBS certificate.

Jenny Evans

Jenny Evans has vast knowledge and experience of teaching History. She was awarded a BA (Hons) in History from the University of London before completing her PGCE and starting her teaching career. For 30 years of her 35 year teaching career, Jenny was Head of Humanities / Head of History at two Plymouth schools- Tamar High School (a mixed grammar school) and Notre Dame School. In addition, Jenny has an enhanced DBS certificate and QTS. Above all, Jenny loves to help students reach their potential. Jenny Evans, QTS, BA (Hons), PGCE is a vastly experienced teacher as for 30 years of her 35 year teaching career, Jenny was Head of Humanities / History at two Plymouth schools: Tamar High School (a mixed grammar school) and Notre Dame School. She has taught English Language and Literature at GCSE and KS3 and also specialises in coaching students through the A level Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and A level General Studies. She also, very importantly has an enhanced DBS certificate.

Martin Dale

Martin is one of the busiest and most popular saxophonists in the South West. An Ex-Royal Marines Band Master, Martin worked on the Q.E.2 as lead alto player, backing such artists as Tom Jones, Neil Sedaka and Petula Clark. He has subsequently recorded for the BBC on radio and television sound tracks and to date he has released 8CDs which have been played on Radio 2,3 and Jazz FM. Martin makes regular appearances at UK Jazz festivals.

Martin Jenkins

Martin Jenkins (CIEH) is one of the most talented jazz and blues keyboard players in the South West. He is a highly in demand and well respected musician specialising in jazz, blues, improvisation and composition. Martin is an easy going and experienced teacher and tutor, teaching in schools and privately since 2001. In addition, he has an enhanced DBS certificate.

Paul Blake

  • Head of Biology at Heles
Paul Blake (BSc(Hons), PGCE, QTS) was the Head of Biology at Heles School until July 2020. Paul became Head of Biology at Heles in 2003 and so he has vast experience of teaching Biology to GCSE and A-level students. Although Paul decided to take early retirement, he is very keen to carry on with the Biology teaching he loves. Paul has a detailed knowledge of current specifications and is available for face to face and online tuition via Zoom etc. Moreover, he has a fully enhanced up to date DBS certificate.

Rhea Ford

Rhea (QTS) obtained her BSc in Mathematics with Education from the University of Plymouth in 2007. She gained her PGCE in Primary Education at University of St. Mark and St. John in 2008. Rhea worked in a few primary schools before her current role as a maths tutor in a Plymouth secondary school. Rhea has a fully enhanced up to date DBS certificate. She is a calm, encouraging and very thorough tutor.

Sharon Perry

Sharon Perry (QTS) has a BA(Hons) in English Literature and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Sussex. Additionally, she has a PGCE from the University of Oxford and a Diploma in English Language Teaching (DELTA) from the University of Cambridge. Sharon is also a certified IELTS examiner. She has taught English Literature, Language and ESL for over 30 years both in the UK and also international schools overseas. Furthermore, she has extensive experience in KS3, 4 and 5 and is DBS checked.

Shelley Lockett

Shelley Lockett (BSc(Hons), MSc, PGCE, QTS) is one of the most experienced and well respected biology teachers in Plymouth. She is currently Head of Science at Plymstock School and specialises in Biology and Human Biology. Her A-level results are well above national average and importantly, she has an excellent knowledge of assessment criteria. In addition, Shelley has fully enhanced up to date DBS certificate.

Wendy Fox

Wendy Fox is a very well-qualified and experienced teacher of German with a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages from the University of Salford. She also has an MEd in Applied Linguistics from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia and PGCE from the University of Warwick. Wendy additionally has an RSA Diploma in TEFL from International House, London. She has been teaching for more than 30 years. This includes seven years as a German, French and EFL teacher at what used to be Plymouth College of Further Education. She has lots of experience with both face to face and online tuition.
