Dr Ed White - Chairman

After gaining a first in physics at St Catherine's College Oxford, followed by a doctorate in theoretical physics, Ed moved into consultancy and became a director of Andersen Consulting, with special responsibility for their work in information technology and advising banking and asset finance clients. Ed has lectured widely on emerging trends in the financial services sector and acts as consultant to a number of institutions, banks and multinationals on strategic information technology strategies. Ed is Chairman and co-founder of EDW Technology as well as being a founder of White Clarke Group and White Clarke Technologies. Ed has overseen the continual growth of his group of independent companies for over 25 years.

Dr Simon Miles - CEO, Founder

Simon is CEO and co-founder of EDW Technology and, since its inception, has spearheaded the development of its leading energy retail solutions. Simon has 30 years' experience in the IT industry, specialising in the Energy and Utility sector. After gaining a first in physics at Durham University, followed by a PhD in semiconductor research, Simon worked in the Technology Division for Accenture, where he advised blue-chip companies like British Gas and Cable and Wireless. Following industry deregulation, and after setting up EDW Technology, he managed the development of ERS for EDW's first customer Electricity Direct followed by hands-on experience with start-up B2B supplier E4B. In 2009 Simon helped the Directors of SmartestEnergy to build a successful new electricity supply business based on ERS. Haven Power and Corona Energy joined the ERS family shortly afterwards. Simon ensures that all customers benefit from the many years' experience that EDW has in this sector.

Edward Kilby

Edd joined EDW in 2010 and has over 15 years' experience working in the utilities industry. Edd has been instrumental in the development of our software products, being responsible for Application, Data and Infrastructure architecture for our entire product suite. As a certified TOGAF and Archimate enterprise architect, Edd promotes a strong architecture discipline through principles and industry recognised methodologies. In his role of Head of Product Engineering Edd ensures that we deliver the best possible solutions to meet the requirements of our customers and our market, combining technical and leadership (ILM) experience to ensure the success of our Engineering team. Edd specialises in Energy Forecasting, Pricing and Billing for the utilities sector and also drives technical innovation on our Energy M&T platform. As well as designing many of the core aspects of our platforms he is also a keen software developer, often found coding many aspects of his designs. Prior to joining EDW Edd worked as a Systems Analyst at Ingram Micro on their Global B2B ecommerce platform. He has a 1st class degree in Computing from the University of Derby.

Graham Paul

Job Titles:

Graham maintains a balance of client-facing delivery work and internal business operational management. Graham is responsible for EDW's infrastructure and service delivery, overseeing system administration and client support, and has a cross-functional role in sales, pre-sales, alliances and marketing. He is EDW's customer advocate throughout all aspects of the customer lifecycle. Graham has extensive experience in electricity retail market entry and business start-up. Prior to joining EDW Graham worked for electricity4business as its Sales and Marketing Director and before that Graham worked at Centrica in its B2B division. His roles included acting as Programme Director of the Centrica B2B transformation project, replacing all existing B2B systems with an integrated end-to-end solution. Previously Graham was at Electricity Direct where he was the Director responsible for Marketing and IS Solutions. Graham helped steer Electricity Direct from a privately owned start-up business in 1999, to a company with an annual turnover of in excess of £200m in less than 3 years and finally to the acquisition of Electricity Direct in 2002 by Centrica for £62m.

Greg Armstrong

Greg joined EDW in 2002, and has since held a number of both business and technical roles, becoming an expert in the energy sector and our products and services in that time. Greg combines analytical (ISEB), architectural (TOGAF), process improvement (Six Sigma) and leadership (ILM) experience to provide a grounded and well-rounded basis for the assessment and implementation of change. Greg leads our Business Change team and drives continual improvement through all parts of our business. Prior to EDW, having graduated from Bristol University with an upper 2nd class MEng (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering with European Studies, Greg (who is bi-lingual in French and English) moved directly into IT setting up a UK subsidiary for Trace Software, a French Computer Aided Design software development company. The creation of this subsidiary, and the translation of the Trace Software products into English, opened the international markets for the group, which now has offices across the world including America, Asia and EMEA.

Janaka Tennakoon

Janaka joined EDW in 2011 after completing the MSc in Computer Networking Professional. He is responsible for maintaining the EDW Information Security framework including ISO 27001 and Cyber essentials plus certifications. Janaka is also a team leader in the EDW service delivery team, responsible for managing onsite datacentres and cloud infrastructure to facilitate the delivery of EDW software development lifecycle.

Jim Inglis

Jim uses his 35+ years of IT experience to steer EDW's business solutions and product engineering teams as they seek to respond effectively and efficiently to the challenge of fulfilling the IT needs of our customers. After gaining experience in a variety of IT related roles, Jim joined EDW and was soon overseeing the realisation of ERS, which has since gone on to become a core business system at the heart of several leading UK B2B electricity suppliers. The software portfolio has since grown and now serves a broader range of Energy and Utility sector needs. As ever, Jim is responsible for ensuring that EDW is innovative both in the technology it delivers and the practices it follows which he achieves through the talents of a smart and dedicated team of skilled IT practitioners.

Martin Warford

  • Application Support Manager
Martin has been with EDW for 10 years and knows the ERS application inside out. He is responsible for managing EDW's dedicated development application support team to ensure that software defect fix delivery SLAs across all customers are achieved, he has ownership of both UAT and live software defect resolution work. Martin works with the EDW Release Manager to ensure that support defect resolution work is scheduled in the appropriate release (be it patch, maintenance, major release or datafixes). Martin has a 1st class (Hons) Degree in IT Computer Communications from the University of Northampton.

Paul Dowling

Job Titles:

Paul joined EDW in 2009 and has 15 years' experience working in the electricity industry. Before joining EDW he worked for Eon, E4B and Utility Warehouse. He has direct experience of helping our customers implement ERS. In addition, Paul has remained in close contact with key customer stakeholders and has helped them find more effective ways to meet their business objectives using ERS by refining both business and system processes.

Peter Stiles - CTO

Peter joined EDW Technology at its inception bringing a broad base of technical skills and knowledge. He has worked primarily on workflow systems and their integration with other products since 1994. Peter has been responsible for supervising all of EDW's research and development activities including its technology, architecture, product development, and quality assurance initiatives. He has been a driving force behind EDW solution breakthroughs. Prior to EDW Peter worked as 'International Troubleshooter' for the White Clarke Group over a period of two years, designing, integrating and implementing systems in Italy, Spain and South Africa as well as the UK, and is proud to be part of the team that developed and implemented a multi-country, multi-company, multi-currency, multi-lingual application that is now being used throughout Europe and Africa.

Tom Anderton

Tom joined EDW in 2012 having graduated from the University of Edinburgh, studying Geography. His interest in the environment and energy, coupled with a passion for IT attracted him to EDW, recognising the opportunity to join a business that aligned with his aspirations. Since joining, Tom has gained valuable operational experience across the UK energy industry and all aspects of the business through a number of focused roles. These key roles include business and systems analysis, product implementation, customer support, project management, customer account management and sales. Tom thoroughly enjoys working with our varied customer base and ensuring that they are getting the best value out of the products and services that we are proud to provide. His recent appointment as Head of Customer Success will facilitate this objective as he spearheads our customer service function in terms of both support and order delivery as well as providing the direction and strategy for our products and services in an evolving market and energy landscape. Tom is a keen skier and big fan of the outdoors - if he's not in Milton Keynes, you'll most probably find him in the Lake District!
