Abdel Chehab

Abdel joined ZHA in 2013, having previously worked on large-scale developments and masterplans at a number of architectural practices in Beirut. Since joining Zaha Hadid Architects, he worked on the design of several high-profile infrastructure and urban projects in Saudi Arabia including the King Abdullah Financial District Metro Station in Riyadh. He has played an integral role in the design development of various architectural and urban projects using computational methods as the main tool. Abdel has been involved in a number of high-end commercial and mixed-use projects such as office headquarters in Jakarta, a masterplan in China and the Jesolo Magica Retail Centre in Milan. Education Abdel received his bachelor's degree in architecture from the American University of Beirut in 2009. He subsequently gained his Master of Architecture specialising in ‘Emergent Technologies and Design' from the Architectural Association in London in 2013.

Alejandro Diaz Fernandez

Since joining our team in 2005, Alejandro has worked on a wide range of projects, from competitions to commissions. He is currently the Lead Architect for the Edifici Torre Espiral in Barcelona, Spain. Education Alejandro has an architecture degree from the ETSAB, Superior Technical School of Architecture, Barcelona (2003) and a masters degree in architecture and urbanism from the Design Research Laboratory at the Architectural Association, London (2005).

Aleksandra Mnich

Profile Prior to joining the ZHA London office in 2015, Aleksandra interned at ZHA's Beijing office, gaining valuable experience developing some of the firm's major award winning projects including Sky SOHO and Wangjing SOHO. Aleksandra's portfolio reflects over 5 years' experience working on a variety of international architectural, interior and product design projects. Her work includes the design of a number of luxury residences throughout Russia, China and the UAE. She was a member of the design team for the Guangzhou Infinitus Plaza office headquarters in China, the Mercury House tower in Malta and a high-end private office in Moscow, which are currently under construction. In 2018, she worked on the winning scheme for the Southbank tower lobby in London and has since been working on the further development of the project. Aleksandra is also an accomplished product designer and contributed to many of the firm's iconic pieces, including the LOOP immersive sound lounge and Zaha Hadid Design collection tableware.

Her experience includes a wide range of designs from residential, transport and commercial, and a variety of scales from furniture design to urban design. Anat Stern is an architect and a researcher with over 24 years of experience, in which she has been working in Israel, Belgium, the Netherlands and in the UK. She is currently a Senior Associate at Zaha Hadid Architects, where she is involved in international projects across China, Japan, the Middle East, Australia, South America, mainland Europe and in the UK. Her work experience spans over varied typologies, amongst are civic mixed-use projects, cultural buildings, residential towers, private villas, hospitality, offices and transportation structures. Her academic work includes teaching at the Architectural Association and at the University of Westminster, as well as lecturing extensively in the UK, across Europe and in several universities in Israel. Furthermore, Anat was an invited critic for final students' reviews at the AA, The Bartlett UCL, London MET, RCA, University of Westminster, University of Greenwich, and in numerous universities in Israel, including the Technion - Israeli Institute of Technology, Bezalel - Academy of Arts & Design, Holon Institute of Technology and Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art. Education Anat studied Architecture and Urbanism at the Bezalel Academy of Arts & Design in Jerusalem as well as the Technion Israeli Institute of Technology in Haifa. At Bezalel she made the honours list and at Technion she made the Dean's list. Anat subsequently obtained her master's in Architecture and Urbanism from the Design Research Laboratory at the Architectural Association in London.

Andrea Balducci

Andrea joined us in 2005. Since then, his projects have embraced international competitions, exhibitions and built work, such as the large-scale Regium Waterfront development in Italy and Pierres Vives in Montpellier - the studio's first building in France. He has also worked on Dubai Financial Market and Signature Towers in Dubai and has been particularly involved in the City Life high-rise development in Milan. More recently, Andrea has been working on Studio City Phase 2 and a masterplan in China. Education: Andrea gained a master's in Architecture and Urbanism from the DRL Design Lab at the Architectural Association in 2005 - his thesis on intelligent deployable membrane systems, ‘Deployable Emergency System' was published in 2008. He previously studied architecture in Italy at the Politecnico di Milano and graduated with honours from the Universita' degli studi di Urbino, where he has since lectured.

Profile Since joining Zaha Hadid Architects in 2013, Armando has worked on a wide range of commission projects and competitions in Europe, North and South America, China and Malaysia. His experience encompasses works on both design concept development and project delivery, working closely with consultants and suppliers to deliver accurate construction packages, which reflect the original design intent. Armando has worked on developments that range from product design up to master planning, including the Samsung Pavilion at Salone del Mobile Milan 2017, the Danjiang Bridge in Taiwan as well as the Zhuhai Jinwan Civic Art Centre in Zhuhai. Prior to joining ZHA, Armando worked at practices in Mexico, Spain, and UK. He has also supervised documentation and construction administration for the Oppo Headquarters tower in Shenzhen, China. Previously, as an Associate at the Los Angeles office of Frank Gehry, he coordinated architectural services for various international commercial, residential, concert hall and museum projects. Education Armando Solano studied Architecture at the University of Hawaii where he was a Valedictorian. He also studied Engineering at the University of Colorado and worked in the construction industry for eight years.

Arya Safavi

Arya joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2014, having completed four years of practice at Amanda Levete Architects. He has led the design, development, and delivery of a large and diverse range of mixed-use projects across all stages in Australia, South America, and Asia. He has worked across typologies and scales with a focus on complex geometry, computation, and advanced techniques of rationalization and fabrication. Arya is currently the project architect leading the design and delivery of a major mixed-use development of 21 towers under construction in China. He was the project architect for the Alai Riviera Complex of 7 residential towers and a large multi-use podium in Mexico and was notably in charge of the design development, rationalization, and coordination of complex façade and exoskeleton geometries for Grace on Coronation in Brisbane, Australia. In parallel, Arya has been the design lead on several significant but confidential cultural, leisure, and entertainment projects. At ZHA, he has also led the design and delivery of a number of major international cultural, residential, hospitality, and transportation competitions.

Ashwin Shah

Ashwin joined the office in 2012 and has worked on a wide variety of competitions in Asia, Europe and North Africa including airports, towers, performing arts centres, museums, residential and mixed-use developments. He started as a member of the Zaha Hadid Architects Computation and Design Research Group (ZHA CODE), and he now focuses on end to end delivery of projects with a keen interest in developing business in India. Ashwin has also been heavily involved in developing large scale projects through various stages, notably Jumeirah Nanjing International Youth Cultural Centre, a hotel in China and a lighthouse in Dubai. He recently led the Navi Mumbai International Airport after ZHA won the project in an invited competition. Currently, Ashwin is the Project Architect for the Unicorn Island masterplan, a 1 million sq.m. masterplan development that includes office, commercial and residential buildings in Chengdu, China. Education Ashwin received his B.Arch with distinction from The National Institute of Technology in Trichy, India in 2010 and his M.Arch from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London in 2012. Aurora originally joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2005, till 2008 when she moved back to Tenerife, Spain. There she worked both for architectural practices, as well as on freelance projects. Bogdan Zaha

Following his graduation from the Studio Zaha Hadid at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, and after a number of years of work in Romania and Austria, Bogdan joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2014. As part of the office's design cluster, he has worked on a significant number of projects on all continents, with varied programs and during all design stages. These include Alai Residential Complex in Mexico, Beijing Daxing International Airport, Masaryk ča in Prague, the Singapore New Science Centre, Tower C at Shenzhen Super Headquarters Base, Zuglo City Centre in Budapest as well as a number of undisclosed projects and competitions around the world including; towers, operas, theatres, museums, transportation hubs, offices, residential buildings, schools, campuses, master plans, and airports. His experience spans over many project stages with a focus on parametric modelling and advanced geometrical design methodologies. Bogdan is a PhD fellow at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna where he was also a research fellow, under the guidance of Patrik Schumacher. He has been teaching at the University of Innsbruck in Austria, the BioID at UCL and the Architectural Association in London with a regular attendance as lecturer and panellist at various conferences. He has taught a number of workshops focused on computation design and parametric architecture in Romania, Austria and Italy. Education Bogdan studied at the Ion Mincu University in Bucharest and the Faculty of Architecture in Timisoara, Romania, before graduating from the University of Applied Arts' Studio Zaha Hadid in Vienna.

Branko Svarcer

Profile Branko joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2017. With over 34 years of experience, he specializes in façade design, vertical transportation, building regulations, and codes and standards. He has worked on a broad range of projects within the UK, Europe, and the Middle East, including commercial, office, cultural, civic, residential and mixed-use developments, whilst also specializing in auditorium design. Prior to joining ZHA, Branko was an associate director at both RHWL Architects (1994-2015) and Aedas RHWL (2015-2016). He has also worked as an architect for Bernard Engle Architects (1989-1992) and Blampied & Partners (1987-1989). Since joining Zaha Hadid Architects, Branko has been working as an associate on the regeneration of Mercury Tower in Malta. Branko provides technical support relating to building regulations and codes and standards. He is also responsible for the development of construction information, as well site supervision. Profile Charles is a Board Director of Zaha Hadid Architects, leading one of the three design business units of the practice. With over 30 years of professional experience delivering exceptional projects worldwide, Charles is qualified as both a registered architect and a chartered structural engineer, bringing a unique perspective to ZHA's work. Before joining ZHA, Charles worked at Ove Arup and Partners' where he founded the Advanced Geometry Unit, having a key role in leading and building the units' reputation for innovative design and engineering projects until 2007. He joined Zaha Hadid Architects later that year. Education and Teaching Charles studied architecture at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada and then obtained a postgraduate degree in structural engineering studies in London at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine. Charles led an intermediate teaching unit at the Architectural Association from 2003 to 2010, founding the annual pavilion programme. He was Visiting International Professor in Emerging Technologies at TU Munich in 2010, and served as Head of Programme in Architecture at the Royal College of Art in London from 2011 to 2014. Project experience overview Charles oversees most of the practice's work in China, as well as acting as project director for the Danjiang Bridge in Taiwan, government buildings in Algeria and Iraq, and Navi Mumbai International Airport in India. Charles was recently the commercial project director - working alongside ZHA's aviation leader Cristiano Ceccato - for the Beijing Daxing International Airport, which includes the Phase 1 terminal building and ground transportation centre, associated retail planning (in collaboration with Benoy) and interior design. Charles is currently the project director for the multimodal Danjiang Bridge that spans the Tamsui River estuary in Taipei. This major infrastructure scheme will link four key highways in northern Taiwan, carrying an extension of the Danhai Light Rail Transportation system, thus connecting the town of Bali and the rapidly expanding Port of Taipei with the wider public rail network. Charles has also been project director for the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre (KAPSARC) in Riyadh, leading the team and integrating sustainable technology to meet LEED Platinum certification. The 70,000m 2 research facility provides office space for up to 350 researchers, conference facilities including a 1,500-seat exhibition hall, a 300-seat auditorium, an exhibition space and library.

Chris Lepine

A member of our team since 2006, Chris Lépine has experience in large-scale international projects and the use of advanced digital technology to resolve complex design challenges. Chris is currently the project director of 1000 Museum, a residential tower in Miami, USA. Chris was formerly an associate at Foster and Partners where he had many leadership roles on completed, international projects including lead designer and project architect for a prestigious winery in Spain. He also worked with Foster and Partners' exclusive Specialist Modelling Group. Education Chris obtained a Master's degree at Clemson University in South Carolina, where he received both the top graduate prize and the best thesis project award. He also holds a degree in finance from the University of South Carolina's Honours College. Profile Christos joined Zaha Hadid Architects as a senior designer in February 1998. Now a director, he is responsible for leading a wide range of key projects and competitions within the practice. Involved in many of the practice's seminal projects such as the Rosenthal Centre for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati; the MAXXI: National Museum of 21st Century Art in Rome; and the Sheikh Zayed Bridge in Abu Dhabi, he led the design of the Phaeno Science Centre project in Wolfsburg, Germany, which was shortlisted for the Stirling prize in 2006. Christos is currently project director for the recently completed Opus in Dubai, UAE, as well as Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Concert Hall in Yekaterinburg, Russia and the Sberbank Technopark in Moscow, Russia; a 262,000m 2 new complex that forms part of the wider Skolkovo campus considered to be a new ‘Russian Silicon Valley', and will accommodate up to 12,000 people across the IT and marketing departments. As project director, Christos is also leading a number of ZHA's major masterplan projects, including Admiral Serebryakov Embankment in Novorosky, Russia; Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye Smart City, Russia; Kartal Pendik Masterplan in Istanbul, Turkey; and Eleftheria Square in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Clara Martins

Having previously worked for different practices in Lisbon and London, Clara joined ZHA in 2008. She has since coordinated large-scale projects from Concept Stage through to Construction Stage, including D'leedon residential development in Singapore, and Morpheus Hotel in Macau, China. Clara was project architect for ZHA's first South American proposal, Casa Atlantica, a residen tial scheme located in Rio, Brazil. She was directly responsible for the planning application's approval by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall.

Profile Craig first joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 1989 and has a wealth of experience working on a wide range of architectural and master planning projects worldwide including the Eli & Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University, Väsby Entré Masterplan in Upplands Vasby, Sweden, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul and the Masaryk Railway Station Development in Prague. Education Craig obtained Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design in 1983 from Kent State University School of Architecture, Ohio. In 1989, he was awarded a Master's in Architecture Urban Design from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University and, in 1995, became a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He is a Academician at the Academy of Urbanism and a member of the Urban Design Group. Teaching Craig has been a design tutor at the University of East London and University of Greenwich, student mentor and liaison officer at Harvard University and visiting juror at a number of universities.

Cristiano Ceccato

Profile Trained in both architecture and computer science, Cristiano specialises in the development of design solutions for complex forms, using parametric technologies and computational design tools. Cristiano also leads the team within ZHA responsible for aviation-sector projects. Before joining ZHA in 2008, Cristiano worked for seven years in the offices of Frank O. Gehry in Los Angeles. At Gehry Partners he was responsible for the development and application of parametric design tools and integrated modelling principles, and associated digital construction methods on a wide range of design projects at all stages of development. Education & Teaching Cristiano studied architecture at the Architectural Association in London, and holds a masters in computer science from Imperial College London. From 1998 to 2001, he was an assistant professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, also serving as a visiting professor at Queensland University of Technology from 2009 to 2012. Project overview At ZHA, Cristiano's professional focus includes geometric rationalisation and constructability resolutions for structure and envelope systems, as well as project governance through Building Information Modelling (BIM). Working on the Galaxy SOHO office development, completed in 2013, Cristiano optimised the façade components to maximise value without compromising the artistic intent. He also worked closely with the client's team to design and implement effective BIM protocols for cost control and project management - a first for this particular client - which have since been rolled out across all of SOHO China's construction projects. Cristiano has spearheaded ZHA's entry in the global aviation market over the past ten years, overseeing ZHA's team for the Beijing Daxing International Airport in China, the Wester Sydney International Airport in Australia and the Navi Mumbai International Airport in India.

Cristina Barrios Cabrera

Profile Cristina is an architect and landscape urbanist who joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2018, having previously worked in various practices in Venezuela and the UK. She has extensive experience in large-scale international projects that range from sports architecture, aviation, mixed-use, bridges, landscape and masterplanning. Since joining the practice she has focused primarily on the aviation sector having worked in various competitions and led various packages for Western Sydney International Airport and the Navi Mumbai International Airport in Mumbai. Education Cristina obtained her diploma in architecture from Universidad Simon Bolivar in 2007 and completed a Master's Degree in Landscape Urbanism from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in 2009. Daniel Fišer

Daniel Fišer joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2004 and was made a senior associate in 2019. Davide joined ZHA in 2009. Having previously worked in architectural firms in Italy and the Netherlands, he became associate in 2021. Davide has been integral to several international projects and competitions while at the office, namely the new Napoli-Afragola High Speed Train Station, Morpheus Hotel in Macau and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Melbourne. He worked from concept design to construction documentation and he is specialized in the rationalization of complex geometries. Education Davide has a master's degree in Architecture cum laude from the Polytechnic University of Turin and is a registered architect in Italy and the UK. His prize-winning thesis was entitled "Premio Nardi: Innovative technologies and complex shapes" and he was a visiting student at the Sci_arc Southern California Institute of Architecture, Los Angeles, in 2005. Teaching Davide has taught at the Welsh School of Architecture, UK, the Polytechnic University of Turin and IUAV University of Architecture in Venice in collaboration with the Architectural Association London and GSAPP Columbia University New York. He also taught a Rhinoceros and Grasshopper workshop in Rome and a Maya workshop in Florence. Since joining us in 2007, Dennis has collaborated on several commissions and competitions, ranging from product design, residential and office buildings, cultural buildings and urban master plans. Projects include Lilium Tower, Warsaw, Poland; Villa Hillinger, Vienna, Austria; Dorobanti Tower, Bucharest, Romania; Villa Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik, Croatia; Chengdu Contemporary Art Centre, Chengdu, China and Hongqiao Soho, Shanghai, China. Education Dennis has a diploma in architecture from the University of Innsburck.

Diane Unwin

Diane joined us as Head of Finance in 2012, bringing more than 25 years' experience leading the finance function, implementing successful growth strategies and negotiating complex mergers and acquisitions for a number of high-profile companies. She began her career with Ernst & Young in London, where she was quickly promoted to Senior Manager, before becoming Group Financial Controller for The Tote. She went on to work as Finance Director for Cameron Taylor Group, which was acquired by Scott Wilson in 2006. In 2010 Scott Wilson was acquired by URS and she became Finance Director for the UK Buildings & Infrastructure Sector, where she was responsible for financial reporting and improved the firm's margins by identifying additional work and assisting with client negotiations. Education She studied a degree in French and German at the University of Exeter, before qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1987.

Previously working as an architect in Rome, Domenico joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2008. He has experience in all work stages of large-scale projects and his background includes space planning, technical development and building regulations. His main responsibilities at ZHA include steering projects through all work stages, developing design solutions in accordance with building regulations, understanding of the suitability and performance of materials and components, team, quality and programme managing, as well as liaising with consultants, clients and contractors. Education Domenico has a Masters degree in Architecture and Building Engineering from L'Aquila University, Italy. He was Adjunct Professor in Architectural Composition, of Architecture and Building Engineering at L'Aquila University between 2004 to 2009.

Ed Gaskin

Ed returned to the studio in 2010, having previously worked as a student intern in 1989 and as a member of the team from 1999 to 2003. His current projects include the Nanjing International Youth Cultural Centre, where he is lead architect for the coordination of, design development, construction documentation and supervision. Prior to this he was lead architect for key design phases of Sky SOHO in Shanghai and was based in Beijing as a senior architect for the Wangjing SOHO showroom. He was a primary contributor to the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati, Ohio and a design assistant contributing to the Bergisel Ski Jump in Austria; and further projects in Germany and Japan, as well as the studio's exhibitions in the USA - in particular overseeing the installation of a show at the Harvard Graduate School of Design Gallery. Education He holds a Masters in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design (1994) and a Bachelor in Architecture cum laude from the University of Cincinnati- his undergraduate studies also included a semester in Copenhagen, Denmark. Teaching Ed has taught architecture at Tulane University, the University of Cincinnati and theUniversity of Louisiana at Lafayette and is frequently invited to participate in student reviews.
