These designs were modified and refined throughout the 1960's resulting in the very popular Mk 10 intended for F3 and F Libre. Merlyn is of course best known for Formula Ford and following close behind Lotus and Alexis, Colchester Racing Developments Ltd introduced a simplified version of their Mk10 F3 as the 1968 MK11 Formula Ford. The enormous success of the Mk 11, particularly that raced by Tim Schenken, was followed by the even greater success of a cosmetically improved version, the Mk 11A... This year Westie's son Ben has been competing in his Dad's car and after Mallory, in Simon Hadfield's Merlyn and has won the Formula Ford section of the Classic Racing Car Championship. We look forward to seeing Ben in the Historic FF series next year.
