ULTRAMARATHON RUNNING STORE - Key Persons
Job Titles:
- Founder of Canalrace C.I.C
Keith Godden is an experienced, yet an undeniably average mid to back of the pack ultra runner! His first ultra distance race was the 2008 Thames Meander, followed soon after by the London to Brighton. Bitten by the ultra bug he realised race information and resources were hard to find and so began building some simple lists on ultramarathonrunning.com - an ultra running resource and global calendar of ultra marathon races. It has over 800 listed ultra races, although maintenance of that site has fallen behind recently!
Ultra running events that Keith has participated in (not necassarily finished!) are, in no particular order, the Grand Union Canal Race, Hull 24 Hour, London to Brighton, Caesars Camp 100, South Downs Way 100, Thames Path 100, Thames Ring 250, Thames Trot, Stort 30, the ONER, Viking Way Ultra and others.
Keith's hometown is Bristol, has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, is a qualified skydiver and lived in Japan for some years. Following a career in mechanical engineering and sales & marketing fields, he followed his passion for ultra running and opened Ultramarathon Running Store in the Spring of 2012; initially operating from his spare bedroom and the garage! His daughter is a strong swimmer and occasional runner and his wife now a mental health advocate following a long stint as a primary school head teacher. His favourite runs are with his dog, a Hungarian Viszla.
Keith is the founder of Canalrace C.I.C., a not for profit volunteer organisation that organises the Canalslam series of canal race events including the Grand Union Canal 145 mile Race.
