PARADIGM MARKETING & CREATIVE - Key Persons

Alex Pate

Job Titles:
  • Digital Strategist
I'm a Mississippi girl born and raised with a childhood dream of moving far away from home to become an FBI agent or professional ballerina (it was a tough decision that I wasn't ready to make at the ripe age of 11). Four years ago, I moved to Memphis for a job in fashion marketing, and I've never felt more at home - funny how dreams change. Growing up, I was always a big picture kind of girl. If you ask my parents, they'd tell you I was extremely inquisitive. My favorite thing to say: "I wonder why?" I always had tons of questions, and I was going to do my very best to figure out the answers. That's still true to this day and is what led me to my role as a digital strategist. I want answers, and I'm always going to ask the hard questions so that we can figure out what is (or in some cases isn't) working for your brand... and of course why. From there, we'll strategize on the best plan of action together. As a daughter of the digital age, I know what drives my generation - what motivates, what persuades and what builds relationships. I thrive in the fast-paced environment of the digital world and love collaborating with other creative and innovative minds - which is why I knew Paradigm was the perfect fit for me. Some things to know about me: I am a newlywed, dog mom, mental health advocate, hard-core Ole Miss Baseball fan, pop culture know-it-all, hot sauce enthusiast and Swiftie at heart. When I'm not working, I'm usually turning our kitchen into a floral shop, playing second shooter for my husband at events and photoshoots, planning the next adventure or family vacation and honestly… napping. I love a good nap. I'm also an Aries and an enneagram 4 - if you care about that kind of stuff!

As much as I love Memphis, I didn't start here. I was born in Portland, Maine. I had a lovely yet chilly childhood filled with snow forts, apple cider, and competitive clogging (no really!) I moved to Memphis at the height of my middle school career, set down my clogs and went on to study studio art, interior design, and graphic design. One of my favorite parts about my job is having a positive impact on how a company is perceived. I love how a strong, deliberate brand can create a new identity and help a business grow. At Paradigm, I'm in charge of overseeing our creative team to deliver amazing new brands and content. When I'm not at Paradigm designing logos or laying out websites, I can be found painting portraits, building furniture, or snacking in front of the latest episode of some current Netflix drama.

I've always liked creating things. Whether it was making my dollhouse furniture from paper, learning to sew from my grandmother, or teaching myself to bake in college-- I'm usually up for a new hobby. Every job I've held has had some sort of creative aspect, and I've loved pursuing that passion in a few different ways over the years. These days, I'm into creating relationships, too. At Paradigm my intent is to come alongside my clients as a helper and resource to hit their goals. It's exciting to see a client succeed in storytelling and business simultaneously, right? Many of my previous roles in small businesses asked the question, "How can we do a lot with few resources?" Talk about stretching your problem solving skills! So, whether your business has big or small issues, with plenty or scarce resources, let's solve the problem together. I‘m proud to be an amateur baker, plant-hoarder, Netflix binger, and, most recently, a mom. When not pursuing one of my many hobbies, you may catch me trying a new restaurant or lounging on the couch with my family. Those are really the only two alternatives.

Home is where the heart is, so I guess my home will always be Memphis! I graduated from the University of Memphis in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and shortly after decided to get my master's degree in Strategic Communications. Upon graduating, I found myself wanting to explore new places which led to a brief move to Kansas City, MO. I loved it there (Go Chiefs!), but something always pulled me back to Memphis. I decided to move back home which was bittersweet, but being back in the city I called home for so many years brought a sense of permanent belonging and nostalgia. I have always enjoyed talking to people, so joining Paradigm as an account coordinator and digital strategist was right up my alley! Discussing projects, timelines, and watching everything come to life is such a fun part of this role. Throw in my passion for all things digital strategy: social media, digital advertising, overall marketing campaigns, and more - my job here at Paradigm, doesn't feel like much of a "job." When I'm not working you can catch me obsessing over my 115 pound Cane Corso dog, Blue! My world revolves around him and he's the best gentle giant a girl could ask for. I also love spending time with my friends and family, watching any type of sports game or Real Housewives, and binging any & all podcasts and documentaries!
