Dr. Adrienne Johnston

Originally from Southwestern Ontario, Adrienne obtained a B.Sc. in biology from the University of Western Ontario and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College. She has been practicing as a clinical veterinarian in Nova Scotia since 2011. Although her primary career is now in regulatory medicine with the federal government, she enjoys seeing patients during her weekend shifts at AAH. Adrienne recently returned to school part-time and is working toward her M.Sc. in One Health, a discipline that explores the connections between animal, human and environmental health. She and her husband Brad have two dogs (Cricket and Bender), three cats (Indy, Lou and Wesley Crusher) and a handsome young horse named Kayce.

Dr. Michelle Pothier

Home » Team » Dr. Michelle Pothier Michelle grew up in Lakeville on her family's farm. She attended Acadia University, where she obtained a BSc in Biology before studying at the Atlantic Veterinary College at UPEI, graduating with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. After graduation she moved back to the Valley and joined the team at AAH. Dr. Mike McGowan

Mike obtained a B.Sc in biochemistry with a research honours in microbiology from the University of New Brunswick, then obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Guelph in 1986. Mike is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and a long standing committee member of the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association. He has obtained additional training in his professional fields of interest including; equine dentistry, equine lameness, infectious disease and bio security, bovine and equine reproduction and nutrition. Mike is married to Dana Power (partner/companion animal veterinarian) and their primary interest is their daughter, Annie.

Dr. Patti Murphy

Patti grew up in the beautiful Annapolis Valley and was part of the first class to graduate from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1990. After spending over 30 years practicing in Ontario, including 7 years as a clinic co-owner, she decided to spend more time back "home". Patti has a special interest in feline medicine and strives to provide compassionate care to all her patients. When not practicing, Patti enjoys gardening, bird watching, hiking and spending time with family, friends and two cats Huey and Schrödinger.

Dr. Rachel Robinson

Currently part time after returning from Maternity leave… Rachel attended UPEI and Acadia University for her undergraduate education prior to studying at UPEI's Atlantic Veterinary College. She graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in May 2017 and became a member of the Canadian and Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Associations. Born and raised in the Annapolis Valley, she worked near her hometown for a year before joining the AAH team in June 2018. She is excited to continue her career in a place she loves with the support of her husband (as well as their two cats and three dogs!).

Dr. Sarah Ooi

Sarah grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She attended Western University, then Ottawa University to obtain her Master's degree in Biochemistry. She is excited to join the team at AAH after graduating from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland, and moving to the Valley. She likes to spend her spare time with her husband, Leo, and her dog, Mira. Her hobbies include reading, video gaming, travelling (+ eating!), and backcountry camping.
