AAMT/Japio Special Interest Group on Patent Translation was established in 2003 as a research group of Asia-Pacific Association for Machine Translation (AAMT) which is commissioned from Japan Patent Information Organization (Japio) to improve patent translation quality. Along with eight meetings held a year to discuss machine translation quality improvement, we are extracting translation equivalents from bilingual corpora and automatic evaluation of patent translation. During the Machine Translation Summit which is held in the odd years, we became active in hosting the Patent Translation Workshops since 2005, and in the even years, we cooperate with China and Korea to hold the Patent Information Symposium. We are actively involved in research of machine translation technologies for patent translation.
