Florence R. Amalfitano

Florence Rita Amalfitano (Spano), age 95, of Monroe, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024 in her home of the past 69 plus years. Florence was born in 1928 in Bridgeport, CT to Vincent and Millie Spano. She graduated from Bassick High School in 1946. She worked in several professional jobs over the years, including as an Executive Legal Assistant, and as Secretary to the Chief of Police of the town of Monroe. Most of all, she enjoyed her family, and spending time with them, her relatives and friends! She was an accomplished singer first appearing on the stage, with the name June Haven, for the USO in Bridgeport CT, and afterwards for many decades she sang with St. Jude's Catholic Church choir, and in her later years the singing tour group The Elderberries. She also played the saxophone, piano, and was a band leader for many years. Florence enjoyed playing scrabble, doing puzzles, reading novels, and watching NY Yankee baseball. She was an avid cook and always had a wonderful offering of delicious home-made foods and desserts for many occasions, celebrations, and family gatherings. Survivors include two sons, Andrew Amalfitano (Jill) of Erie, CO and Michael Amalfitano (Andrea) of Viera, FL, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Andrew L. Amalfitano, her parents, two sisters Julia and Doris, and her brother Ernest Spano.

Mario D'Onofrio

Mario D'Onofrio "Uncle", age 94, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 3, 1930 in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Benevento, Italy, he was a son of the late John and Lena DePalma D'Onofrio. Mario was a mechanical engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft for many years before his retirement. He was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed showcasing his voice at karaoke events with his friends. A loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend of many, to know Uncle was to love him. He will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Maria Coppini, Karen DeCarolis, Dana Mary Varkel, Laura Stilson, Jennifer Nicoletti, Rachel Dryden, Susan Benso, Anthony Coppini, Martin Marzullo, Emil Marzullo, Daniel Marzullo and John and Ralph D'Onofrio, as well as his great nieces, Jessica DeCarolis, Marcea Stilson, Bobbie Stilson and a great nephew, Ryan Nicoletti. He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph D'Onofrio, his sisters, Anna Coppini, Grace Montanaro, Carmela Marzullo, Eleanor DiPronio, Mary Caputo and his brother-in-law and pal, John Caputo and his nephew, Anthony DiPronio.

Peter H. Kiman

Peter H. Kiman, age 57, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sandra Nancy (Burns) Kiman. Born in Bridgeport on October 17, 1966 he was a son of Sally (Hatfield) Kiman and the late Peter P. Kiman and was a lifelong resident of Shelton. Peter enjoyed coaching his three children and others in youth football, softball, and hockey. He coached Shelton Flag Football and American Youth Football. In addition, he coached softball at many levels including Double-A, Triple-A, Majors, and All-Stars. He served as an assistant coach for fall softball at Shelton High School. He helped renovate Mingrone Field with other volunteers. He coached training sessions for Connecticut RiverHawks Youth Hockey as well, where his passion for fitness and health were on full display. Peter enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He spent summer days at the beach and fall weekends hosting Men's Weekend in Misquamicut, RI, his home away from home. Family and friends often gathered at the beach house to celebrate special occasions. Peter always welcomed everyone. Peter most recently worked as a sales manager in IT for Cisco. He was always willing to help a colleague at work or family and friends with projects around their homes. All you had to do was ask. Peter demanded the best from himself as well as anyone who knew him. He never accepted anything less than 100 percent effort. His determination and drive were evident in all that he did every day. In addition to his mother and his loving wife Sandy of 25 years, survivors include his three cherished children, Amanda, Rachel and Jake Kiman, a brother Steve Kiman and a sister, Stacey Breyan and her husband Christopher as well as six beloved nieces and nephews, Emma Breyan, Lindsey Breyan, Payton Kiman, Lauren Breyan, Trevor Kiman and Ryder Kiman as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Ronald Rodgerson

Ronald Rodgerson, age 76, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on February 19, 1948, he was a son of the late William V. and Ellen Aubin Rodgerson. He was a retired department manager for Sperry Rand Microwave and retired from St. Joseph's Manor. An Eagle Scout, he was a former president and senator of the Florida Chapter of JC's. A hard-working man, he was a man of many tools and talents. Ron was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ronald was someone you could always count on. The unconditional love he gave and values he taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his three loving children, Pamela Gasparrini and her husband Karl, Brian Rodgerson and his wife Marcella and Philip Rodgerson and his companion Nicole, two cherished grandchildren, Kyle and Sarah, a great granddaughter Emma, eight brothers and sisters, Arlene Rodgerson Volpe, William Rodgerson Jr., James Rodgerson and wife, June, Donald Rodgerson and wife JoAnne, Gary Rodgerson and wife Susie, Ellen Rodgerson Nelly and husband Joe; Alan Rodgerson and Dennis Rodgerson and wife, Sherry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Mark and Kenneth Rodgerson.
