Gerald "Snake" Acker began the foundations of Acker Electric Company with only himself and a truck. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned home and began wiring houses around the Anniston area. With much energy and effort, he began to grow the company from a small, residential contractor into a commercial and industrial contractor equipped to take on large, challenging projects offering a wide array of electrical services.
After a few name changes and a switch from a union shop to a merit shop in 1977, Acker Electric Company has never looked back and continued to grow as a full-service electrical contractor. Though Gerald passed the company over to two of his sons, Aaron and Mark, the commitment to maintain the standards of integrity he established has remained the same.
Acker Electric still holds true to the principles instilled by Gerald Acker almost 60 years ago. This has helped us develop a reputation for having an Attitude of service, Excellence in quality, and a Commitment to safety.
