Abdullah Faza

Abdullah holds a Bachelor of Science with Honour degree in Fire Safety Engineering from University of Central Lancashire, UK. He is a graduate member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health. He is an experienced fire engineer with high skills and knowledge in fire & life safety design, fire & gas mapping, façade assessment, inspection and risk assessment. He delivered landmark projects in UAE and GCC countries such as Al Wasl 2020 tower, A2/A3 towers, UAE Pavilion Expo 2020, Wafi Tower, MBR Library, Dubai Frame, Riyadh DAMAC Towers, Riyadh Avenues Project, and others. In addition to the engineering experience, Abdullah was a fire safety instructor delivering fire safety awareness courses for a variety of candidates.

Abs Dawodu

Abs has specialised in Fire Engineering since 2013 with extensive experience throughout all RIBA Stages including Fire Strategy Design Support (Design Reviews, Fire Strategies, liaising with Approving Authorities), Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling by FDS, Technical Reviews Architectural Details, Facade Risk Assessments, Technical Reviews M&E Details, Ongoing Construction Support as well as 3 rd party reviews and complex As-Built Fire Strategies. In recent years due to increasing demands for assessments of external wall elements, Abs has utilised his experience of Architectural Detail Technical reviews to support with delivery of EWS1 forms as well as advising concerned stakeholders of actions required to ensure adequate provisions are provided. He is organised and a strong communicator who utilizes his experience to ensure risk items as well as design options are highlighted and options to proceed are presented in layman's terms. He is also comfortable with providing bespoke Fire Safety Design from first principles, as well as developing bespoke solutions to be supported by qualitative justification, calculations or CFD analysis.

Adam Muggleton - CTO

Adam Muggleton is AESG's Chief Technical Officer. With an MSc in Project Management from the University of Greenwich, UK, he brings with him over 30 years of experience in the industry. He has held leadership positions at several firms and is an advocate for high performance buildings. Adam has a unique skill set derived from experience in property development, design team and project management plus building commissioning. He is passionate about promoting the concept of commissioning management as an effective project management tool, to hand over high performance buildings. Adam devises and delivers successful project, leadership and testing strategies that achieve optimum outcomes for all involved and affected. As well as being an industry philosopher, blogger and podcaster, Adam has contributed to several commissioning codes & guides. He also has unique knowledge and experience leading digital solutions for building commissioning and building information asset management. No matter the country or project, the question is, "why are zero defect, high-performance buildings the exception and not business as usual?" This is the issue Adam seeks to address through his work at AESG.

Alicia Dauth

Alicia is a Senior Associate Consultant - Environment. She comes with an international set of environmental credentials and work experience throughout the US, Africa, and Middle East, providing clients with instrumental environmental consultancy and water quality monitoring services. Alicia supported international embassies and NGO's in Southern Africa with raising awareness for improving the sustainability agenda throughout the region. She has engaged with multiple stakeholders to unlock sustainable management and feasibility practices to achieve cost effective solutions within Zimbabwe. Alicia has been involved with the design and implementation of a working geodatabase to spatially record and highlight environmental discrepancies. This enabled quicker response for remediation practices throughout the Northern region of Kuwait. She managed a robust water management system within remote environments ensuring safe water distribution, storage, and disposal through bioremediation applications in Hwange National Parks, Africa. Her working knowledge includes water and soil monitoring for a variety of site development activities specifically for contaminated lands. Her involvement with site remediation of contaminated soils and groundwater, challenged her to operate in complex environmental situations while reporting to California regulatory bodies. She is also an IEMA Full member and Chartered Environmentalist.

Marina Kindelan

Mark Derbyshire

Mark is an MEP Commissioning Manager with over 15 years in the building services industry, 9 years in the United Kingdom and 7 years in the GCC region. He has been managing projects for over 7 years and has extensive knowledge and is fully conversant with MEP Building Services International and Local Codes and Standards - Specialising in LV/ELV and MEP commissioning. He fully understands all Electrical and ELV systems function and requirements for commercial and domestic builds of all sizes. Mark has worked on an extensive and diverse range of projects throughout the UAE and UK, including Nuclear Power Stations, Data Centres, High rise towers, Hotels, Restaurants, Residential units and Commercial Offices, he possesses a strong technical knowledge and understanding of all MEP building services with the benefit of hands-on LV/ELV installation and installation management experience, along with Mechanical testing capability. Martin Williamson

Martin is Head of Commissioning at AESG and is responsible for leading the commissioning division in the region. He has worked in the construction industry for over 14 years, specialising in commissioning of building services systems where he has successfully delivered multiple projects in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the UAE. He has worked on a variety of projects including mixed-use commercial buildings, prestigious hotels and hospitals. Martin has a strong understanding of the varying requirements different projects entail and has first-hand experience in ascertaining and overcoming the challenges associated with each. Martin is also a Fellow of the Commissioning Specialists Association (CSA) and serves as a board member for the CSA in the GCC where he actively promotes the importance of building commissioning and aims to improve the standard of commissioning in the region.

Matthew Jones

Matthew is AESG's Technical Director for the Environment. Matthew has an environmental sciences background, with three academic degrees in aligned subjects, including a Master of Science degree in Environmental Policy and Management, and a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Cambridge (UK). Matthew has spent over 20 years working in the environmental sector, both as an environmental policy specialist with the UK government, and as an environmental consultant focused on the delivery of environmental management solutions for a wide range of projects throughout the Middle East, where he has worked for over a decade, and southeast Asia. Prior to joining AESG, Matthew worked for the UK government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) as a subject matter expert for environmental impact assessment and environmental policy. With a life-long fascination in the natural world, Matthew is particularly interested in the application of remote sensing techniques as an aid to the conservation management of megafauna.

Nicholas Byczynski

Nicholas is AESG's Director of Sustainable Engineering. He is a Fellow of CIBSE with 14 years' experience in the Middle East leading the Engineering teams in the design of high value projects across a range of sectors, particularly hospitality, residential, public amenities and retail. Nicholas has extensive experience managing large teams in multiple geographical locations with experience in the delivery of diverse projects from a 500,000m2 Hospital projects, signature buildings at the Expo 2020 site and an iconic Museum project currently under construction. At every opportunity Nicholas has embraced low energy building design with sometimes pioneering use of a range of sustainable building techniques including natural ventilation, solar thermal, PV, Rain water recycling, concrete core cooling and advanced chiller system integrated controls. During his career he has led MEP teams to deliver multiple LEED gold and Platinum projects achieving major energy savings through carefully engineered solutions tailored to the specific project need. A focus on option selection and testing ensured all ideas were robustly assessed to deliver the sustainable, operational and commercial aspirations of the projects undertaken.

Nivine's expertise lies in environmental impact assessment and waste management design studies and she currently manages a multidisciplinary team of ecologists, environmental engineers, certified environmental auditors, GIS planners and environmental modelling experts. Nivine has also worked on a number of strategic consulting and government advisory projects through her work with the United Nations Development Program. Nivine is also a published author in scholarly journals on topics relating to climate change, oil spills, sustainability and flood risk assessments.

Phillipa Grant

Having worked on some of the most complex and prestigious sustainability projects in AESG's portfolio, including the development and implementation of Dubai's Demand Side Management programs and multiple pavilions at Dubai EXPO 2020, Phillipa has gained a broad and thorough understanding of the energy and sustainability sector, both locally and internationally, and is passionate about furthering the global Sustainable Development Goals. Phillipa leads all of AESG's energy and sustainability related strategic advisory projects, including the development of government policies and programs as well as sustainable development guidelines for low-income housing. In 2018 Phillipa was recognised for her performance by the AESG Sustainable Business Leadership Awards and was awarded "Sustainability Manager of the Year". In 2019 Phillipa was awarded as ‘Highly Commended Engineer of the Year' at the Construction Week Awards 2019.

Rohan is AESG's Digital Delivery Associate and leads the design and implementation of AESG's proprietary web-based commissioning & handover management platform, DATA+. He is an alumni of The Ohio State University with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Rohan has worked in the construction industry for over 9 years, serving initially as a Mechanical Design Engineer and subsequently specialising in Digital Delivery where has successfully delivered several high-profile projects in the MENA region across various sectors such as Education, Commercial, Residential, Industrial, Rail, Hospitality & Retail. Rohan has developed an expertise in digitally handing over O&Ms, Asset Information Models and Digital Twins through the effective use of BIM and Data Standards that entail a structured, process-driven approach in the definition and approval of project information. He has a deep understanding of the various challenges involved in obtaining accurate information and data throughout the lifecycle of a project. Through his experience, he has developed a strong skillset in liaising with and managing the various project stakeholders and supply chain to overcome these challenges in ensuring a digital handover. Furthermore, Rohan is a SmartScore Accredited Professional in commercial real estate that enables him to assess, improve and certify Smart Buildings to possess and promote a digital infrastructure that accommodates user functionalities such as individual and collaborative working, health and well-being, safety and security, and sustainability.

AESG's CEO Saeed Al Abbar served as Chairman of the Emirates Green Building Council between 2013 - 2020 and is currently a board member of the World Green Building Council. With his expertise in the development of Net Zero Carbon strategies and frameworks, assessing both operational and embodied carbon, for a variety of projects including both new development and existing estates, he actively contributes to our mission of advancing the Net Zero agenda globally.

Sara Rahme

She has managed projects in the UAE, KSA, Iraq and KRI and is experienced in controlling cost and budget for project execution, project planning and logistical coordination. Sarah Jaber

She has a Mechanical Engineering background, a Master's in Applied Energy and over 10 years of experience in the green buildings domain in the region. Sarah was selected to be a Future Energy Leader as part of the FEL100 program by the World Energy Council. She is a Certified Energy Manager and has worked on multiple high-profile projects including LEED Platinum, BREEAM Excellent and Estidama 4-Pearl projects. She has also been an active participant in creating standards for green buildings in Lebanon and a lecturer on the topic in numerous seminars and conferences. She is passionate about sustainability in the professional domain involved in many local initiatives to promote green buildings, energy efficiency, environmental education, climate change awareness and other sustainability-related topics.

As a resident of the UAE for over 30 years, his first-hand experience of fast-paced, high-rise construction has fuelled his passion for sustainable architecture. He has spearheaded the growth of AESG, which has received international recognition for being an industry leading specialist consultancy, that has influenced the design, construction and operation of hundreds of projects to date, and for its investment in construction technology such as parametric design, AI, digital twins, computational design and BIM. She holds a Masters' degree in Environmental Engineering with specialization in the fields of Energy Efficiency, GHG Emissions and Decarbonisation. Her sustainability journey in the UAE started with a 6-year engagement with Dubai Government, as part of the DSM PMO office, implementing the Energy Efficiency (DSM) Strategy in Dubai across 11 programmes and more than 10 key government sector stakeholders and private sector market players. She has led and supported with the design and execution of key activities: DSM PMO office establishment (institutional mechanisms & procedures, organisational objectives, priorities, budget requirements), implementation of operational plans and roadmaps, DSM savings monitoring and evaluation (via data collection, modelling, top management presentations), Capacity and Awareness Programmes. As part of the AESG Strategy & Advisory team, she has expanded her expertise to accompany government and private sector to plan and implement their Net Zero/Decarbonisation, ESG and Sustainability Journey as it evolves over time.
