Blake M. Hampton

Blake M. Hampton, MD is originally from South Florida, where he graduated as valedictorian of his high school. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in neurobiology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Miami, graduating magna cum laude. He received a full tuition academic scholarship to attend medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He finished his internship year in internal medicine at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He then relocated to New York to complete his residency in ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident during his last year of training. Dr. Hampton is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgeons, and the Refractive Surgery Alliance.

Bradley M. King

Bradley M King, MD, MPH received his undergraduate degree in History from Furman University and medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also completed his residency in ophthalmology and Masters in Public Health at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. King is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the North Carolina Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. King's daughters Adah and Ruby Lou attend Carolina Friends School. The family is actively involved at Chapel Hill Mennonite Fellowship. Dr. King's hobbies include mountain biking, yoga, swimming and bass guitar. His practice interests as a comprehensive ophthalmologist include cataract surgery, glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration.

Chadwick R. Brasington

Chadwick R. Brasington, MD has been practicing at Alamance Eye Center since 2002. He received his medical degree in 1998 from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston after graduating summa cum laude in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University in 1994. He completed his residency in ophthalmology and internship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Dr. Brasington served as President of the North Carolina Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons in 2020 and 2021, and continues to serve on the executive board. He is an author and editor of the Lens and Cataract book of the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Basic and Clinical Science Course series. Dr. Brasington is also an active member of many professional organizations including the North Carolina Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Eye Study Club. Dr. Brasington is a native of Columbia, SC and is married to Kelly Pippin Brasington. They have two sons, Daniel and Andrew and one daughter, Nina Kate. They are members of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington. Dr. Brasington practices comprehensive ophthalmology. He is on staff at Alamance Regional Medical Center and performs cataract surgery and glaucoma surgery at Mebane Surgery Center.

Daniel E. Rubinstein

Dr. Rubinstein is a board-certified ophthalmologist, ASOPRS-trained oculofacial plastic surgeon, and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Rubinstein completed his undergraduate education with honors at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ. He subsequently attended medical school at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. Dr. Rubinstein went on to complete his internship in internal medicine as well as his residency in ophthalmology at Rutgers as well, serving as chief resident of his ophthalmology program in his final year. Subsequently, he was invited for fellowship training in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the ASOPRS accredited Center for Facial Appearances under the mentorship of renowned facial plastic surgeon Dr. John McCann. Upon completion of this rigorous, prestigious training, Dr. Rubinstein joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. In addition to his clinical practice locations in Chapel Hill and Burlington, Dr. Rubinstein provides award-winning care for the veterans of North Carolina at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. Dr. Rubinstein has extensive training and experience in a broad array of cosmetic and reconstructive facial procedures, focusing on eyelid, lacrimal, and orbital surgery. He is an expert in caring for patients with orbital fractures and other periocular traumatic injuries and has authored numerous publications on the subject. For patients interested in facial rejuvenation, Dr. Rubinstein offers expertise in the most modern and advanced techniques, such as minimally invasive endoscopic brow lifts, autologous fat transfer, and no-scar eyelid surgery including ptosis correction and lower blepharoplasty. Dr. Rubinstein sees patients by appointment. Dr. Alice Zhang

Dr. Alice Zhang attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada where she earned her doctorate in medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency at McGill University and served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. She distinguished herself by winning academic achievements, surgical skills, research, and teaching awards. Dr. Zhang completed her retina fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University, which is consistently recognized as one of the top eye institutes in the nation. Additionally, she organized free eye screening clinics with the McGill Lions Club chapter for many years. She is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Zhang is affiliated now with UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Zhang is a pianist and she also enjoys Zumba, Latin dance, Irish step dance, travel and gastronomy. She is fluent in English, French, and Chinese (Mandarin). Dr. Zhang's clinical interests include the surgical and medical management of retinal diseases including retinal detachment, macular puckers and macular holes, as well as diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. She is dedicated to excellent patient care.

George T. Katsoudas

George T. Katsoudas, OD received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then his Doctor of Optometry degree from NOVA Southeastern University College of Optometry in Davie, FL. Upon completing his education, Dr. Katsoudas returned to his hometown of Burlington, NC where he has practiced in corporate and private practices for over 15 the common goal of optimal vision and ocular health for every patient. Meredith R. Klifto

Dr. Meredith Remmer Klifto is a native of Oakdale, New York. She graduated from The New York University School of Medicine in 2013 and completed her ophthalmology residency at NYU. While a medical student, she volunteered at the NYC Free Clinic and the Harm Reduction Alliance, both at NYU. Dr. Klifto completed her fellowship in glaucoma at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. She has numerous publications, abstracts and presentations in retina disease and glaucoma. Her clinical interests include glaucoma treatment by medical, laser and surgical means including trabeculectomy, tube shunt, minimally-invasive surgery, cataracts, ocular trauma and pediatric glaucoma. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Klifto enjoys snow skiing, golf, boating and running. In college, she was a member of the NCAA Division I Crew Team at Colgate University and was a member of the women's soccer team at Manchester University in Manchester, England, in 2007. She speaks Spanish and some German. Dr. Klifto lives locally with her husband, an orthopedic hand surgeon, and daughter.

Steven A. Dingeldein

Steven A. Dingeldein, MD is a Greensboro native and joined Alamance Eye Center in 1988. Dr. Dingeldein graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UNC-Chapel Hill and attended Princeton Theological Seminary. He received his medical degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in ophthalmology at UNC. He completed subspecialty training in diseases and surgery of the cornea at Louisiana State Medical Center in New Orleans. In August 1991, as the principal investigator in clinical trials on the VISX excimer laser project in NC, Dr. Dingeldein was the first physician in this area to treat myopia with an excimer laser. Dr. Dingeldein is a member of the North Carolina Medical Society (and has served as chairman of the NCMS Managed Care Committee), American Academy of Ophthalmology, North Carolina Society of Eye Physicans and Surgeons, and past member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He has been named one of the top doctors in North Carolina by Business North Carolina Magazine years 2004-2014 and 2018-2020. Dr. Dingeldein and his wife Mary, are the parents of two daughters. Dr. Dingeldein enjoys scuba diving with his family. His other passions include photography above and below water, astrophotography, as well as theology and the study of early Christian history.

William L. Porfilio

William L. Porfilio, MD began his undergraduate training at the University of Texas at Austin, then graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. While at Wilmington he served as the Captain/First Mate of the University's research vessels on missions including one of the USS Monitor Expeditions. Dr. Porfilio earned his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and went on to do his internship at Saint John's Mercy Medical Center in Saint Louis, MO. He remained in Saint Louis for his residency training in ophthalmology at the Saint Louis University Eye Institute. He is married to Cynthia Connelly Porfilio of Morganton, NC. They have one daughter, Ella Kate. Cynthia's family has been in Western North Carolina for several generations and Bill's family has been in Chapel Hill for nearly twenty years. They have really enjoyed being back in North Carolina and Ella Kate gets to see her grandparents often. Dr. Porfilio is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgeons, and American Board of Ophthalmology. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, sailing, volunteering, and cooking. His practice interests include cataract surgery, oculoplastic (eye lid) surgery, and Botox.
