The Alcomon Company is founded and run by Andries J. van Dam, the inventor of the Alcomon Indicator System. He started his career as collection manager and later as conservator at the Anatomy Museum of the Leiden University Medical Centre... His pragmatic approach to classic problems encountered in fluid preservation has lead to several discoveries and innovative ideas such as an alternative for formalin, a decision-making model for the conservation and restoration of fluid preserved specimens, and the Alcomon Indicator System... The Alcomon Indicator System is an instrument in the form of two small indicator pills that monitor the ethanol concentration in fluid preserved specimens.
