Marty Ames

Ames & Gough was started in 1992 by Marty Ames and Gary Gough. Prior to starting Ames & Gough, Marty Ames was the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Victor O. Schinnerer and responsible for managing the Schinnerer/CNA architect/engineer insurance program. Gary Gough served as a special risk management and claims advisor for Schinnerer/CNA. Prior to that, Gary was executive vice president and general counsel for HDR as well as serving in the general counsel's office for Peter Kiewit Corporation. Marty and Gary envisioned a different type of insurance brokerage model. Their idea was to create a firm staffed by professionals knowledgeable in the insurance and risk management needs of design professionals. The backgrounds of our professional staff include former senior insurance company executives, former professional liability insurance underwriters, attorneys and claim specialists. As a flat organization structure, each partner is personally responsible for client service, thus our clients benefit from more timely response to their insurance and risk management needs. Ames & Gough continues to be an industry-focused specialty insurance brokerage. We serve clients domiciled in 50 states and consult on risk and insurance issues around the world from our offices in Boston, Philadelphia, Orlando, and Washington, D.C. Our exceptional client retention rate is a reflection of our commitment to service. Industry Expertise - Our discerning approach on industry specialization enables Ames & Gough to better understand and manage our clients' risks. Our "foot wide, mile deep" method provides unmatched knowledge and insight providing tremendous value to our clients. We serve only six industry segments: architect & engineers, construction firms, law firms, associations & non-profits, government entities and consulting firms.
