Dr. James Reed

Dr. James Reed, DVM became interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine when he was 12 years old. After completing his undergraduate and master's degree studies at the University of Maryland, he went on to earn his Veterinary degree at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He received his degree in 1987 and then returned to Annapolis to practice in the community where he spent many of his childhood years. His interest in the legacy of the Annapolis Animal Hospital occurred after looking for an opportunity to practice in a small and more personal hospital. Dr. Reed is active in the Annapolis community. He is a past president of the Anne Arundel Veterinary Medical Association, and a past member of the Animal Control Board. Dr. Reed remains active in the state of Maryland's Veterinary Medical Association and is a past president, vice president, and treasurer and recently received a lifetime achievement award for his work over the past 20 years. He and his wife currently reside in Annapolis. He enjoys sailing and power boating as well as water and snow skiing.

Dr. Kim Chaney

Dr. Kim Chaney (Thomas), DVM is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, and grew up with a love for animals and University of Tennessee football - she has a complete wardrobe of orange and white clothing! Dr. Chaney matriculated from the University of Tennessee earning both her bachelor's degree in Biology in 1993 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1998. Upon completion of veterinary school, Dr. Chaney moved north to Annapolis, Maryland. She worked full-time as a practicing veterinarian in southern Maryland and became a co-founder in 1999 of VetCentric- a veterinary based, mail-order pharmacy. After years of working with VetCentric and practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Chaney joined Annapolis Animal Hospital in 2005 where she currently works full-time. She has a strong interest in surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine, but enjoys all aspects of being a general practitioner. Dr. Chaney lives in Annapolis with her two children, Brendan and Brooke. They have a very sweet cat named Maya, a Jack Russell Terrier named Ella, and a Doberman Pinscher named Django. Dr. Chaney loves competitive sailing, biking, horses, and tennis, but she spends the majority of her free time with family and friends!
