Bruce has a firm grasp of current and emerging trends in health facility design and service delivery - and he translates that unique insight into architecture and design that balances form and function within a safe, healing environment for patients, carers and staff. He has more than three decades of experience in the sector, with a career stretching across Australia, the Asia Pacific, the Middle East, India and North America. In a variety of senior roles, Bruce has honed his skills across the project continuum, from business case development, feasibility studies and master planning through to design documentation and delivery, completion and commissioning. A frequent presenter at national and international health conferences, Bruce joined Architectus from HDR, where he served as Director - Health after holding senior roles at Silver Thomas Hanley and Hassell. His Australian portfolio includes Monash Children's Hospital and Werribee Mercy Hospital Stage 2 Redevelopment Precinct Master Plan - both in Melbourne - and the Bendigo Hospital Master Plan & Redevelopment, Victoria's largest regional hospital project. Internationally, he was the health facility project director for St Catharines Hospital in Ontario, Canada, the Singapore - Outram Community Hospital, and Dunedin Health Precinct Master Plan in New Zealand. Whatever the nature or scale of his work, Bruce believes in the power of evidence-based and architectural design, and partners with clients on solutions focused on the health and wellness of the individual as well as the wider community.

Carsten Auer

Carsten has 25 years' experience working in Berlin, London and New Zealand. He joined Architectus in 1999 and has been a Director since 2008. From 2013, Carsten has been leading the Architectus office in Christchurch. Carsten has extensive experience in a comprehensive range of projects, particularly in the education, commercial and civic sectors. With a strong client focus, he is dedicated to achieving client goals and delivering projects that respond to functional imperatives within a strong design framework. His expertise has translated into the successful completion of exemplary Architectus projects including the St Cuthbert's College Performing Arts Centre and Centennial Centre for Wellbeing, the Campus Hub and Library at Victoria University of Wellington and the new Bus Interchange in Christchurch. Carsten is an excellent communicator and is truly committed to a collaborative team approach. These qualities combined with his extensive expertise enable him to effectively lead large, complex, multi-stakeholder based projects to successful outcomes for a wide range of clients. Charlotte Hoare

Charlotte is a Registered Architect and was appointed an Associate in 2021. She has a wide range of project experience in design, documentation and construction observation in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She is a design-focused architect, competent at leading large multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative responses on challenging projects. Her interests lie in designing and delivering projects which enhance the public realm and shape communities. This includes a particular focus on Education, Civic & Workplace Facilities. Previously, Charlotte was based in London where she was involved in a range of complex education and performing arts projects, as well as an innovative high density residential scheme using emerging timber technology. She was involved in the front-end design and documentation on these projects, working with clients, end users and consultants to develop and realise concepts. Colin oversees the overarching strategy and delivery of Architectus projects. He brings a wealth of experience to this role, having designed, documented, and delivered major projects across the retail, commercial, hotel, residential, education, health, and aged care sectors. He has high-level expertise in construction, project and stakeholder management. He is currently one of the Principals leading the design competition-winning Cockle Bay Park in association with Denmark's Henning Larsen Architects. The mixed-use project will create a vibrant new foreshore complex at Sydney's Darling Harbour, which integrates an elegant 6 Star Green Star, 183-metre commercial tower, 10 000 m2 of parklands and surrounding amenities into urban fabric of Sydney. Colin's recent portfolio also includes the awarded mixed-use development, Barrack Place and elegant Sydney commercial tower, 275 George Street. Colin is focused on supporting the practice culture of collaboration and world-class design. He is skilled in managing staff and project timeframe and has a long track record of understanding and interpreting project briefs to ensure best outcomes while minimising client exposure to risk.

Dean is National Sector Leader of Urban Design and Planning in Australia. He has over 25 years of experience in design in private and public sectors. He is currently leading the urban design for the Victorian State Government's Suburban Rail Loop, a major public infrastructure project that will link key suburban hubs throughout middle Melbourne. With a career that began in landscape architecture, Dean's interest and expertise has evolved into broader city-shaping and urban design of major projects. He is highly experienced in master planning, strategic urban design, design review and urban renewal. Dean's career has seen him work in government roles and in large national design studios. He has led design teams on major public design projects including complex land developments, mixed-use infill sites and precincts across Victoria and New South Wales. A respected, leading urban designer, Dean is a member of the Office of the Victorian Government Architect's Design Review Panel and a former member of the Level Crossing Removal Authority's Urban Design Advisory Panel. His association with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects included a 2-year term on the Victorian Executive and roles on AILA design juries, education committees and public sector committees. Dean was a jury member on the 2017 Victorian Urban Development Institute of Australia Awards.

Kellee joined Architectus as an in-house consultant in 2017. Her role as an Education Environments Strategist is to facilitate meaningful collaboration and effective communication between school communities and school facilities designers (including architects, interior designers and landscape architects). Her experience as a tertiary educator and skills as a designer and researcher enable her to participate in pedagogical conversations and design discussions. She is able to articulate the links between pedagogy and design and identify design opportunities for the physical environment to support and promote rich, diverse and connected learning and teaching experiences. As a result she is able to develop more effective Education Design Briefs for better functioning schools. Kellee has been a juror and panel chair for the Victorian Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE, formerly CEFPI), Educational Facilities Awards. She was also a judge and panel chair for the 2020 A4LE Australasian Awards. Her ongoing involvement with A4LE includes the development of resources to promote collaboration between education and design communities.

Stephen is an experienced architect who specialises in the design and documentation of major cultural, justice and sports projects. Notably, he was part of the design leadership for the award winning $1.8 billion Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law projects. Over the last few years, Stephen has been instrumental in shaping the practice's renowned Australian Public Architecture portfolio, including the Powerhouse Ultimo Renewal, Canberra Theatre Redevelopment, Naala Badu (Sydney Modern Project) AGNSW, The National Herbarium of NSW, The Eromanga Natural History Museum, Papua New Guinea National Museum and Art Gallery, Werribee Police Station, All Ages Learning Centre QAGOMA, and projects for Court Services Victoria and Justice NSW. Skilled in client and user group communication and collaboration, team leadership, and complex services coordination, Stephen has consistently managed teams to produce high quality work within project timeframes. Jane is a Principal and Registered Architect with over 25 years' industry experience. She has a broad range of experience in the commercial, education, public, and residential sectors in New Zealand as well as in the United Kingdom where she spent ten years working on a number of high profile commercial and mixed-use developments. Jane oversees the strategy and delivery of Architectus projects and has a wealth of experience in the delivery of education, public and multi-unit residential developments. She has proven ability in the management of project teams, working closely with consultants and contractors while maintaining a strong client focus. She has worked in all stages of the design, development and delivery of projects and has expertise administering projects on site. Jane was instrumental in the setting up of the Architecture + Women New Zealand group in Christchurch and played a key role in the RE-THINK Exhibition in 2013. She is also an industry advisor and visiting critic to the Ara Architectural Studies Programme. She has been a visiting jury member and convenor for the Te Kāhui Whaihang NZ Institute of Architects Local Branch Awards Programme, and was a founding member of the Open Christchurch Building Council for Te Pūtahi Christchurch. John's career focus has been the education sector and an interest in architecture as a spatial framework for learning, working and living. John has collaborated with many school clients on refined and innovative developments including the Mandeville Centre at Loreto Toorak, a highly awarded building that was lauded by Monash University's Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Professor Shane Murray as "… an elegant and highly accomplished exercise in architectural fundamentals" in Architecture Australia. John was Principal in Charge of delivery for the $200 million Victorian Growth Areas School Project. He was Project Leader during the crucial first year of the significant State Library of Victoria refurbishment, a project whose accolades include the Melbourne Prize at the 2020 Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Chapter awards program. John takes an integrated approach to design that reflects a career-long curiosity about how people use and interact with buildings, and the ways in which architecture exists in our cultural awareness of place. John is a registered architect with extensive experience gained in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Having returned to New Zealand from London in 2010, John joined Architectus and took on a key role in Victoria University of Wellington's Campus Hub and Library project. A joint venture with Athfield Architects, John led the documentation and delivery of the central building for the Architectus team over a three year period. John's experience in the educational sector is further underpinned by his role in the design and documentation of the envelope for the redevelopment of the B302 Science Centre at the University of Auckland. He was also involved in the development of the Outhwaite Building at St Peter's College - a new teaching block that provides quality flexible teaching spaces and sits prominently on the school's public frontage. John was also involved in the design, documentation and delivery of one of the first ‘anchor projects' in the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan - the Christchurch Bus Interchange. As part of Kiwi Property's ambitious plans to develop Sylvia Park Shopping Centre as a true metropolitan town centre, John led the Architectus team on the documentation and delivery of the first commercial office building, ANZ Raranga, over a three year period. A leading expert in aviation architecture, he has been instrumental in the design and delivery of airport terminal and security projects across the Asia-Pacific with a career portfolio that includes developments in China, Singapore, Indonesia, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide. Karl has played a leading role during the design or delivery of several significant projects including Changi Airport Terminal 1 expansion and refurbishment, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's new Terminal 3 in Jakarta, and Melbourne Airport's North Infill project. Kelly joined Architectus in 2017 having previously worked at Orms Architects in London. Kirk is a certified New Zealand Green Building Council Green Star practitioner and leads Architectus' Sustainability Working Group which champions our sustainability values, provides guidance and learning material to assist with and facilitate all aspects of sustainability across the practice at all project stages. A registered architect, Kirk has over 20 years' experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex, large-scale developments. He most recently led a team on the design, documentation and delivery of a large mixed-use development which was awarded a 6* NZGBC Green Star rating for Design and Built, showcasing world leadership in sustainability. He is currently leading the team on another commercial development which is targeting a 6* NZGBC Green Star rating as well as a WELL pre-certification rating and carbon neutral certification. Kirk has extensive technical skills and expertise, and a particular interest in the integration of BIM into the traditional design and delivery process. With BIM increasingly being used to inform design decision-making around sustainable and climate change-responsive outcomes, Kirk lends his knowledge and expertise in BIM and sustainability as a member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects' BIM Working Group. He is an active member of the Life Cycle Association of New Zealand (LCANZ), an independent specialist group driving the uptake of Life Cycle Assessment and Management in Aotearoa.

Kitty has 20 years' experience working in award-winning practices in both Auckland and Melbourne. She has been a registered architect since 2009, working on a diverse range of residential, public, educational, and commercial projects. Prior to joining Architectus in 2012, Kitty worked at FJMT Melbourne and was Project Architect on the delivery of the Hume Global Learning Centre & Library. She played a key role in the delivery of the project under a fast-tracked programme. Kitty has been involved in a wide range of projects since joining Architectus. Most notably as Project Architect on Alfred Nathan House, The University of Auckland's admin and student services centre which won an NZIA Local award in the Heritage Category, and as Senior Architect working on The Pā Marae and Student Hub facility at the University of Waikato in Hamilton. Manuel graduated in France in 2001 and worked in Strasbourg until he emigrated to Aotearoa and joined Architectus in 2005. He was appointed an Associate in 2016 and Senior Associate in 2021. He has more than 15 years' experience New Zealand industry across a diverse work portfolio with a focus on education, public, infrastructure, aviation and commercial projects. Manuel has extensive knowledge and experience in design development, documentation, coordination of project consultants and on-site project administration. He has been involved in the delivery of a wide range of large, complex and award winning projects. He played a key role in the redevelopment of the University of Auckland's B302 Science Centre, and is currently involved in the Auckland Airport Redevelopment project. Matthew Holloway

Matthew initially joined the Architectus Auckland studio in 2012 before moving to Christchurch in 2014 to assist in leading the growth of the studio. Following a stint in the United Kingdom, he returned to Architectus to establish the Wellington studio and has since rejoined Christchurch. Matthew was appointed a Senior Associate in 20221. He has played a key role in the brief development, design and delivery of a number of projects, notably Tūranga, Christchurch's award-winning new central library. Matthew has experience in the design, documentation and delivery of a broad range of projects including libraries, master planning, medium and high density residential, education and transport. Design-focused and a good communicator, Matthew has worked closely with a broad range of clients and stakeholders to turn a project's vision and objectives into an effective and enriching built environment. Matthew travelled extensively with The University of Auckland, including to study urban regeneration in the Iberian Peninsula. After graduation, Matthew spent time at The University of Auckland School of Architecture as a part-time tutor and guest critic, including travelling with the University to western Europe to tutor in a studio studying alpine architecture.

Michael has over 20 years' experience working in award-winning practices in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Michael joined Architectus in 2013 following an 11-year period in London working for Allies and Morrison Architects. While in London Michael was involved in projects ranging from commercial office buildings in central London and Leeds, extensions to a university college library, refurbishments to an historically listed concert hall and a large retail and leisure building in central Liverpool. He also worked as senior architect on buildings built to house the media for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Since joining Architectus, Michael has played key team leadership roles in the design and delivery of complex, large-scale education, commercial, infrastructure and residential projects. Most recently he has been involved in the detail design / construction stage documentation for a new International Arrivals Facility for Auckland International Airport, and a five building, 236-unit residential development for Kāinga Ora. Michael's level of technical and on-site construction experience has proven invaluable in collaborative large team environments, working with multiple stakeholders to develop practical and innovative solutions that achieve high levels of design and construction quality. He is interested in sustainable construction opportunities that result from building designs that consider increased use of off-site fabrications. Paul studied at Auckland University graduating in 1998 with honours. He then travelled overseas gaining a position at Pascall + Watson in London and spent five years working on large infrastructure projects including the expansion of Heathrow airport. Paul also worked on a private air terminal in Abu Dhabi, a job won through a design competition. Paul then spent time with Hassell in Sydney on a coastal regeneration project at Darwin Cove before returning to New Zealand and settling in Wanaka. Here Paul worked as project architect on a range of residential and commercial commissions. As Group Director Transport in Australia, Robert is responsible for driving the national strategy, growth and leadership development of the Rail, Aviation and Infrastructure portfolio of Architectus. Robert is known as a collaborative and insightful leader, able to quickly find solutions to the most complex design challenges and calibrate and motivate teams to achieve exceptional results for clients. Robert brings over 20 years of experience in projects across the rail, aviation, infrastructure, commercial, laboratory, industrial and residential sectors in Europe and Australia, with diverse expertise ranging from traditional architectural commissions to the design and production of specialist facade and glazing systems, prefabricated building solutions and industrial products. He has extensive background in the briefing, documentation and coordination of large-scale projects across the gamut of Australian culture and commerce, including Brisbane's award-winning Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law; the National Herbarium of NSW with iconic architect Richard Leplastrier; transport and commerce hub, Brookfield Place Sydney; a major refurbishment of the Reserve Bank of Australia; and the Sydney Nanoscience Hub at the University of Sydney. A leading aviation architect, Robert has led projects at major airports around the world. At Architectus, he has led terminal developments, master plans and upgrades for airports, including Sydney Airport and Brisbane Airport. He was Principal of the Studio's Western Sydney Airport Terminal competition and led the design team creating that airport's Dedicated Cargo Facility Masterplan. He has expert knowledge of the complex technical and integration requirements of such projects.

Ruth is a communicative and collaborative architect, equally invested in building strong client relations as she is in mentoring younger architects. Over the course of her career, Ruth has held roles in the Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC), as examiner and tribunal member of the Architects Registration Board Victoria and as a director of TEN Women. She is currently appointed to the PCA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee in Victoria. Ruth has been awarded Life Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Architects in recognition of her significant contribution to the architecture profession beyond architecture practice.

Severin is a Principal in the Auckland studio. Originally from Austria, Severin graduated from the University of Innsbruck and subsequently completed postgraduate studies at The Bartlett School of Architecture in London. His design research was honoured by the Austrian Federal Chancellery with an Outstanding Artist Award in Architecture in 2000. In 2005 Severin emigrated to New Zealand and joined Architectus, sharing the practice's pursuit of design excellence. He leads both the Living & Working and Urban Futures sectors.
