Dr. Averill M. Law, the founder and president of ALA, is widely considered to be one of the foremost experts on simulation modeling. Previously, he was a tenured professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Arizona. Dr. Law is the author of Simulation Modeling and Analysis (6th Edition, McGraw-Hill, 2024), which has been the leading simulation book since 1982 with more than 178,000 copies in print and 24,950 citations (according to Google Scholar). He was awarded the 2009 INFORMS Simulation Society Lifetime Professional Achievement Award. He has a Ph.D. in operations research from the University of California at Berkeley.
