Ben Engelby was named general counsel of Arizona G&T Cooperatives in 2019. Ben came to AZGT from ACES Power Marketing, where he started in 2012 and served as vice president of regulatory and reliability services. In addition to his general counsel duties, he is the AZGT chief compliance officer and senior manager of the cooperative's North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection program.

Christopher Jimenez

Christopher Jimenez joined Arizona G&T Cooperatives in January 2022, bringing more than 10 years of experience in all facets of energy management and resource planning. Christopher's team is responsible for delivering a variety of services to AZGT members, including energy management, fuel management, wholesale trading, energy billing, environmental allowances, forecasting, financial evaluations, data analytics, statistical modeling, resource planning, asset acquisition, resource development, and market implementation. Previously, he was with the ACES Power Marketing West Regional Trading Center (WRTC), located on AZGT's Benson campus. He began as an hourly trader, was promoted to portfolio director and manager of operations, and was most recently executive director of portfolio management. Christopher has been instrumental in improving and managing trading operations, optimizing existing member portfolios, and implementing new portfolios for new members and customers. He helped drive much of the growth at WRTC, along with the expansion of services in the Western Electric Coordinating Council bilateral, as well as in the Western Energy Imbalance Market and the California Independent System Operator market. During his time at WRTC, he built a highly effective and sophisticated team, took the lead in tackling complex analytical and operational issues, and was instrumental in developing a strong partnership between ACES and AEPCO and their members. Throughout his career at ACES, Chris was fundamental to the increased competitiveness and exponential growth of both organizations' business. He also has a proven leadership track record with employee satisfaction, recruiting, professional development, mentorship, team building, enterprise management, entrepreneurship, budgeting, and reporting to boards of directors.

Mike Nelson

Mike was promoted to executive director of power production in 2016, but since he started there in 1977, he's done nearly every job there is to do. Mike has worked as fuel material handler, auxiliary operator, control room operator, shift supervisor, operations manager, and manager of power production.

Patrick served as corporate counsel and chief operating officer for Arizona G&T Cooperatives before being appointed chief executive officer in 2011. He is the former president of the G&T Managers Association and a member of its communications committee. He is a director, and former chairman, on the ACES Power Marketing board of directors in Carmel, Indiana. He is also a director on the Grand Canyon State Electric Cooperative Association board of directors, in Phoenix, Arizona, and chairman of its legislative and government relations and political action committee.

Pete Scott - CFO

Pete Scott has been with Arizona G&T Cooperatives since December 2011 and became CFO in 2013. Pete has more than 30 years of finance and accounting experience and manages the rate-making, accounting, finance, treasury, financial forecasting, procurement, and insurance risk management functions of the cooperatives. During his time at AZGT, Pete and his team managed the conversion of AEPCO's Rural Utilities Service mortgage to an indenture, secured the cooperative's first investment-grade credit ratings, and successfully consummated multiple short- and long-term financings and rate cases. Pete is an active member of the G&T (Cooperatives) Accounting and Finance Association, most recently serving as chair of the Finance subcommittee. Before joining Arizona G&T Cooperatives, Pete was director of finance at Labcyte Inc., where he oversaw the financial operations of an international biotechnology company based in Sunnyvale, California. He has a bachelor's degree from Colorado College and completed his Certified Public Accountant coursework at the University of Arizona.

Shane Sanders

As executive director of transmission and system operations, Shane Sanders manages a team that works around the clock to ensure system reliability. His team includes transmission planning engineers, substation and transmission engineering, transmission operations and maintenance, and engineering project support. The group monitors and controls a large portion of the 866 miles of transmission lines and associated substations as well as the 24/7 system control center, which monitors more than 1,400 MW of system peak load and more than 1,200 MW of generation. His technical services team provides IT support, as well as maintaining a SCADA system that provides refreshed system data every 2 to 4 seconds and real-time operations control.
