Abby Spurlock

Abby began working for Bassler & Redick CPAs, LLC in 2018. She attended Claremont McKenna College in California where she received a Bachelor of Economics and Accounting. Abby enjoyed her college accounting classes which inspired her to pursue a job in accounting. Abby is from Anchorage, Alaska, and after attending college in California, she returned to Anchorage to begin her accounting career. In her free time, Abby enjoys baking. Fun fact: Abby has a pet hedgehog; he is very cute.

Carla Bassler

Carla Bassler is a certified public accountant who enjoys meeting with clients and discovering ways to assist them. She is a strong believer in excellent customer service. Carla founded her practice, Carla J.K. Bassler, CPA, PC, in 1994. Carla was born in Billings, Montana and has lived in Oregon, Texas, Nevada, Micronesia, and finally, Alaska. She attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Alaska Anchorage and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. When Carla was young, she thought she wanted to be a marine biologist, but she took an accounting class and liked depreciation so much that she decided to major in it. She says she has never regretted her decision. In her free time, Carla is a scuba instructor. She enjoys going on her boat, teaching scuba classes, traveling the world, and spending time with friends. Fun fact: Carla is married to Louis Bassler who was born and raised in Anchorage. He is one of twelve children. Carla and Louis now live in Louis' childhood home which is just a block from the office.

Daniel Cox

Daniel joined our team in 2022. His extensive life experiences and focus on customer interaction has made him a great addition to our team. Clients appreciate his calm manner and the care in which he handles client issues. As an Airforce brat, Daniel spent his childhood traveling across the US. He finally settled in Alaska in 2022, becoming a valued member of our staff. When not at work he enjoys hiking, playing frolf and reading fantasy novels. Fun Fact: Daniel has a twin brother. They are very close.

Jason Speyerer

Jason Speyerer began working for Bassler & Redick CPAs in 2014 after graduating cum laude from the University of Anchorage Alaska with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He chose a career in accounting because he enjoys assisting with taxes and working with people. Jason's favorite part of his job is when he completes a tax return and knows he saved the client as much money as possible. Jason was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. Before working at Bassler & Redick CPAs, Jason worked at Legacy Logistics at the airport. In his free time, Jason enjoys fishing, playing softball, playing soccer, and spending time with his children. Fun fact: Jason is a two-time state champion in football in Alaska. In 2000, he was part of the only Alaska football team to be ranked in the national poll. They were ranked 9th in the west and were part of the 40 greatest football teams in the nation.

Karen Courtney

Karen was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. Karen has received a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Karen has a fondness for spreadsheets, so it is no surprise that she chose a career in accounting. Prior to becoming an accountant, Karen held multiple hospitality, administrative, and internship positions. Bassler & Redick CPAs, LLC has been thrilled to have Karen as an accountant since 2015. When she is not at work, Karen enjoys reading murder mysteries, taking naps, and debating on the internet. Fun fact: Karen's favorite animal is the Komodo dragon, the world's largest lizard. The Komodo dragon's saliva contains fifty different types of bacteria.

Kort Redick - President

Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Kort Redick joined Bassler & Redick CPAs, LLC in 2015. As the President and Owner of Bassler & Redick CPAs, LLC, Kort is a strong believer in focusing all efforts on the needs of her clients and staff. Kort says, "The way we take care of our clients is by keeping up on tax law, so every client can pay the least amount of taxes they are legally entitled to pay. The way we take care of our staff is by not taking on too many clients. We happen to prepare tax returns in this process." Kort Redick comes from a long family line of accountants. Following three generations of accountants, it is only natural that Kort decided to become an accountant as well. Kort decided to take the family tradition of accounting a step further and became a CPA. Kort has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Kort says, "I love puzzles! Accounting is a giant puzzle." In her free time, Kort enjoys spending time with her kids and her husband. She enjoys hockey, fishing, traveling, downhill skiing, and outdoor sports.

Nisha Overstreet

Throughout high school, Nisha took many different accounting and business-math classes. She enjoyed these classes in high school which lead her to pursue a degree in accounting. Nisha attended Purdue Global University to obtain an Associate of Applied Science in Accounting. Nisha's favorite part of her job is working with the team at Bassler & Redick CPAs and getting to meet many different clients. Nisha was born in Iowa, raised in Atlanta, and recently moved to Alaska. In her free time, Nisha enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching her twins play sports, and reading her favorite book, Tools of Titans.

Senior Staff Accountant, Patty Paulson, has over 20 years of experience. Patty specializes in bookkeeping and enjoys working with many different clients and their businesses. When asked why she chose a career in accounting, Patty says accounting chose her. Patty was introduced to accounting through a bookkeeping class at a vo-tech. She enjoyed the class so much that she decided she wanted to go to college for accounting. She received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bemidji State University in Minnesota.
