You can imagine for a young girl growing up; a hearing loss is not something one aspires to having. But at an early age a hearing loss is not something one even knows they have - let alone something one wants to admit to... Like most young people, for fear of being judged, or for fear of being treated differently, rather than tell people ‘my secret', I have spent a long time pretending to myself and other's - that no such problem existed - "Everything is fine, I don't have a problem" -... Most people think that people who have a hearing loss are different - well we are - but it's only because we are forever trying to "work you guys out" - like, what you may have just said, or … ok, sometimes we are still trying to work out what you said yesterday…
