Benchmarking is a process of continuously measuring and comparing an organization's business against leaders anywhere in the world to gain information that will help it take action and improve performance... Benchmarks were identified and prioritized by feed industry leaders during the Feed Mill Profitability Workshops conducted in Kansas City, MO; Owatonna, MN; Storm Lake, IA; and Madison, WI. The benchmark categories included financial, technical, and personnel ratios. Data needed to calculate these ratios are derived from income and balance sheet statements and production records.
