Alanna McIntyre

After travelling and studying in France, Spain and Italy, the desire to learn more about the world of wine grew. Alanna started with Bishop's Cellar back in 2008 and now splits time between the store and our warehouse offices using product expertise to design educational programs and elevate customer experiences throughout the business. Alanna is a Certified ISG Sommelier, who has also received the WSET Level 3 and Italian Wine Scholar Diploma.

Allie Barter

Allie is currently attending Saint Mary's University and was previously a loyal customer to Bishop's Cellar before joining our team in 2022. Allie is new to wine but is eager to learn and demonstrates that thirst for knowledge - and sweet drinks!

Bryson Murray

Job Titles:
  • Order Desk Associate
Bryson originally started with our Warehouse Team at Bishop's Cellar; picking, packing, and delivering orders to our local restaurants and customers. Since then, Bryson has taken on the responsibilities of Order Desk Associate; handling everything to do with restaurant orders and helping schedule local deliveries. To all of our restaurant partners: if you're ever wondering who that friendly person is on the other end of the line, it's probably Bryson!

Caroline Nichol

With nearly two decades of experience and more than 16 years with Bishop's Cellar, Caroline is a seasoned veteran of the wine industry. She got her start while she was living in Dublin, Ireland and later became the first official employee of Bishop's Cellar. Learning about wine and playing a role in vibrant international wine culture has always been an important part of Caroline's work. In her role at Bishop's Cellar Caroline manages product logistics, builds relationships with suppliers, and negotiates like crazy to bring our customers the best possible value in every bottle. Caroline loves to find connections and she's always on the look-out for new opportunities and products to elevate Bishop's Cellar. Outside of the wine world; Caroline is passionate about food, travel, and adventuring every day with her kids. Certifications: Caroline holds WSET Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 awards.

Emily MacLean

Emily joined our Warehouse Team in early 2022, signing on to be an Order Desk Associate. Since then, Emily's role has grown, taking on responsibilities related to our licensee/restaurant side of the business; helping customers across the province get the product that works for them. A Certified Sommelier - Court of Master Sommeliers, Emily has taken part in plentiful wine-related travel, further cementing that passion and desire to keep learning about everything wine.

Erica Priolo

A graduate of Music Therapy at Acadia University in Wolfville, Erica is one of the newest members of our Retail team. Joining Bishop's Cellar in late 2023, Erica comes on the heels of working at local winery (and one of our many local favourites!) Benjamin Bridge. Erica's chill personality has been a great addition down at the shop; keep reading to find out some interesting facts about one of our newest employees below.

Erin Horton

Erin brings years of experience managing restaurants and selling wine in Halifax to her role at Bishop's Cellar. She takes pride in being a part of the amazing wines that are available on tables throughout Nova Scotia. Day-to-day her work includes educating restaurant staff, creating new wine lists, writing tasting notes and working alongside her customers. Erin especially loves bringing new wines to the market, learning about them, and helping her restaurant customers make the best decisions for their business. When she's not in restaurants around town, you'll find Erin experimenting in her kitchen, sailing from the squadron or travelling to wine regions. She also makes time in her busy schedule to work out at Evolve Fitness and stay fit. Certifications: Erin is a CAPS-certified sommelier, holds a WSET Level 3 award, and has also taken several of the Introductory Master Sommelier courses.

Gaby McCotter

Gaby joined our team at Bishop's Cellar in 2021, having worked with us previously before; signing on to be our Retail Manager and coming with 10+ years in the alcohol and beverage industry in both Ontario and Nova Scotia, Gaby brings passion to everything local (especially bubbles!) and works closely with our Retail Team to ensure customers receive excellent customer service and experiences while shopping in our Lower Water St. location. A self-proclaimed dog lover (dog Mom to Elvis and Memphis), Gaby is currently enrolled in the CAPS Certified Sommelier program, has achieved WSET Level 2, and has taken numerous online wine courses and classes, further cementing that drive and passion for our beloved industry.

Ian Amos

Ian has been part of our operations crew for more than 5 years and his quiet leadership style keeps everything moving in the warehouse.

Ireland McDonald

Ireland started with Bishop's Cellar in 2023 and is new to the wine industry; with previous retail experience, you can catch Ireland working nights and weekends, helping customers find exactly what they're looking for. Jason MacLeod

Jason is a CAPS Certified Sommelier and has worked in restaurants all over Eastern Canada as well as the United Kingdom; honing skills for food and wine pairings. Having travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, Jason always drinks local when traveling, bringing back unique insights and perspectives when it comes to the world of food and wine. Joining Bishop's Cellar back in 2009, Jason works within our product team, bringing extensive knowledge, experience, and attention to detail when it comes to selecting and sourcing wines from all over- especially from France!

Jason MacPhee

With over 20 years of experience as a wine merchant in Halifax, Jason joined Bishop's Cellar back in 2013. Working within our product team and splitting time between our shop and warehouse offices, Jason's extensive experience helps select and source the wonderful wines we carry on our shelves everyday. Working hard to make shopping for wine less complicated and intimidating for customers of all knowledge levels, you can catch Jason pouring wine and helping customers find what they're looking for on most Saturdays down at our Lower Water St. store.

Jordan Egan

Jordan is a CAPS Certified Sommelier and joined our team at Bishop's Cellar back in 2019. Working within our Licensee Sales team, Jordan collaborates with some of the best restaurants in Halifax (and across the province) to help curate, maintain, and ultimately maximize their respective wine programs. After spending some time living and traveling throughout Europe, a pit stop in Tuscany really opened Jordan's eyes to the world of wine and helped foster the passion for the beverage industry.

Kate Fraser

Kate has achieved WSET Level 3, and a Diploma in Single Malt Whisky from the Edinburgh Whisky Academy as well as a Certificate in Gin and Certificate in Irish Whiskey. Joining Bishop's Cellar in 2019 Kate brings expertise in all things wine and spirits. Next time you are in the shop feel free to strike up a conversation about anything scotch or spirits related, Kate is always up for a chat!

Kathryn Harding

When you step into our retail store, there is a pretty good chance you'll find Kathryn creating amazing wine experiences for our Bishop's Cellar customers. As retail manager, her day-to-day work includes providing wine education, developing pairings, planning for the store's future, and planning upcoming wine tastings. Kathryn became interested in wine while she was working in the restaurant and bar industry during university. After a trip to Australia and exploring more wines abroad, she decided to enroll in the sommelier program. With more than 10 years at Bishop's Cellar, Kathryn loves that she's still meeting new people and constantly learning new things about wine. Beyond the store, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her friends and family while pursuing her second passion of staying fit and healthy. Certifications: Kathryn is a CAPS-certified sommelier and holds her WSET Level 3 award.

Lucas Mader

Lucas is a BJCP Certified Beer Judge, Certified Cicerone (one of six in Nova Scotia!) and has achieved WSET Level 3. Having started in the industry by installing/maintaining draught beer systems across Halifax, Lucas joined the Bishop's Cellar team in 2014 and has been our dedicated beer specialist since day one. Working within our product team, Lucas manages all things refreshments (beer, cider, and RTDs) and spirits by bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge when tasting, selecting, and sourcing everyone's favourite carbonated beverages.

Matt Hodgson

Matt is a Red Seal Chef, Certified Beer Server - First Level Cicerone, and was awarded the Edinburgh Whisky Academy - Certificate in Scotch Whisky, and Certificate in Gin. After many years working in kitchens throughout the Atlantic provinces, Matt joined Bishop's Cellar in 2020. An avid beer drinker, Matt has recently grown an interest in all things Scotch whisky.

Stefan is a CAPS Certified Sommelier, Certified Specialist of Wine from the Society of Wine Educators, Certified Italian Wine Specialist with the North American Sommelier Association, and has received WSET Level 3 as well as a Diploma in Cool Climate Winemaking and Viticulture from NSCC in Kentville. After many years in the restaurant industry, Stefan joined our team in 2020 and brings a wealth of wine knowledge especially when it comes to low intervention and natural wines.
