Caroline Ellis

Caroline has extensive financial markets Trading, Structuring & Risk management expertise across all major asset classes. Caroline was the Barclays Group CRO for Capital, Liquidity, IRRBB, Pension funds and Strategic investments 2016-2019. In this role, Caroline was Chair of Group Treasury Risk committee, Member of the Barclays Pension Executive board and provided governance to the Boards of Barclays Group & its significant entities. Prior to her CRO role, Caroline was Global Head of Barclays Client Solutions & Securitisation Derivatives Trading desks 2010-2016 , winning two industry awards for innovative transactions Caroline has delivered multiple "Mission Critical" projects requiring global co-ordination and Board level governance across a wide range of problems from Investment strategy, Infrastructure & Model delivery and Business performance. She was in her previous role registered by the FCA as an approved person (no longer applicable as BLCP is not an FCA-registered business). Caroline holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Liverpool university and began her career as a Structural Engineer designing petrochemical plants.

Matthew Hunt

Matthew is a property turnaround specialist. He set up Blacklight after spending 15 years investing closed-ended PE funds in under-performing European commercial property assets and a further five years in the investment banking sector. He was an FCA-approved person in his previous role (no longer active as Blacklight is not an FCA-registered business), and was one of the founder partners that led the MBO of InfraRed Capital Partners ("IRCP"), a commercial property and infrastructure investment business, from HSBC in 2011. At IRCP, he was a lead originator in all three closed-ended opportunistic (20% IRR+) investment funds raised during his tenure, for which he and his team invested c.£1.2bn of equity into the industrial, office, logistics and retail sectors across Europe. Prior to InfraRed, Matt was a Director at HSBC Specialist Investments where he invested in UK high value-add commercial property both on HSBC's balance sheet and for third party investors. He joined HSBC from Charterhouse Bank, where he advised on large scale infrastructure projects in the UK and Europe, notably raising 3bn from a syndicate of banks to finance the long-awaited Athens ringroad project. Matt started his career as a graduate trainee at Hambros Bank, where he worked in the leveraged buyout and private equity team.

Tom Mees

Tom is a chartered surveyor with 13 years of UK real estate experience, initially in the retail sector at Leslie Furness before moving to Kitchen La Frenais Morgan (KLM). He focused on mixed use development, investment and leasing and has worked closely with clients including Land Securities, British Land, UBS and Native Land / Grosvenor. He has sourced, financed, and led the development teams on a number of residential development projects in London and the southeast. Tom holds a degree in Marketing, a Masters with distinction in Estate Management and a Diploma in Interior Design. Property development is Tom's second career after several years as a professional cricketer with Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
