Blue Chip FCU was founded in 1948 as RDG Harrisburg Credit Union to serve the financial needs of railroad workers in central PA. In 1976, we changed our name to CenPennRail Credit Union when we amended our charter to include employees of AMTRAK and CONRAIL who worked in central PA. At this time, family relatives of members became an important part of the credit union. Expanding our membership again to additional businesses in 1994, we converted to a federal charter and changed our name to Blue Chip FCU. In financial circles, "blue chip" refers to well-established and financially sound companies that sell high-quality products and services. This new name better reflected our growing credit union and the way we intended to service our membership... Today, Blue Chip FCU continues to offer low loan rates and high dividend rates to a wide range of businesses and employee group in the Harrisburg and surrounding areas.
