It's been just past a year since my husband sudden death brought us to Bowman's. Right after the hospital pronounced my husband death, in the very late hours that evening, I arranged funeral arrangements over the phone. The family working at the parlor truly helped with an understanding of grieving family lacking experience with burying their deceased for the very first time. I trust in their honesty and integrity, their compassionate approach and patiently made everything clear, did not mind me laboring over questions, were swift to provide workable solutions. I found the entire family truly dedicated to doing this work in the merciful context it entails. They also made it easier to deal with government agencies as far as submitting information for us to the right departments as much as they were allowed, with advice and suggestions as to which important agencies our family should contact and what to do for the imminent future to facilitate better care and provisions especially for me, the spouse requiring the most aid. They were quick and helpful to get the doctor's submission for cause of death on the death certificate (required by subsequent agencies to which I had to send), after the doctors omitted the entry in the original report. I will certainly be meeting with the Bowmans again regarding my own passing arrangements for when it occurs. Thank you and God bless you and your family for your work. Siew H Allen

Harry M. Skinner

Harry Michael Skinner was born on April 11, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Morgan and Evelyn Skinner. Harry was their second son, his big brother Morgan was older by 4 years. As a young man, Harry was very active, participating in both baseball and basketball. His mom wanted him to play piano, and rumor is she used to have to stand over him with a fly swatter to get him to focus during practice. Piano didn't take, and as he reached beyond his high school years he developed a passion for bicycling, skiing, hunting and fishing which all became lifelong passions. After short stints at both the University of Oklahoma and University of Tulsa studying Engineering, Harry entered the Army Core of Engineers in 1958. He was stationed in Tokyo from 1958-60, where he spent his free time developing a new passion for photography inspired by all of the beautiful architecture surrounding him. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Harry briefly moved to Colorado to work with his brother at Stanley Aviation and lived with his brother Morgan's young family, including Harry's niece (Becky) and two nephews (Tim & Phil). During this time he developed a very close bond with his Niece and Nephews, all three adored their "Uncle Harry", a bond that continued for the remainder of his life. Eventually Harry's Uncle Tommy and Aunt Lena Mae suggested Harry apply at Mcdonnell Douglas Aerospace Manufacturing Corporation in Los Angeles. Harry was hired as an engineer, and loved to tell the story that during his time there he helped develop aspects of one of the ‘wings' of the Mercury Space Project. His other claim to fame during this time period included engineering work for the famous "Hall of Presidents "at Disney World . During this period, Harry met his wife of nearly 60 years Patricia Ann Targow at the Westwood Ski Club where they shared a passion for skiing at Mammoth Mountain and Big Bear. Through the Ski Club they made many lifelong friends, planning annual reunions up until recently. Harry completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration & Marketing from San Fernando Valley State College in 1967 and thus began his career as an entrepreneur. His first endeavor was selling handmade Moccasins in Ventura, CA. During this time his only daughter, Leslie Erin was born. Harry and his family moved to Denver in 1975 to be closer to his Brother's family. Harry and his wife stayed in Denver until 2022 when they moved to Boise, Idaho to be closer to their daughter and her family. Over the years, Harry had many different careers due to his creative and entrepreneurial spirit, but the two he was most proud of was a chain of 4 bicycle stores he built from the ground up called Gear Bicycles and his invention of the Big Foot Grill which he received a patent for in 1989. He also worked in the oil industry during the boom in Colorado, as a headhunter, and eventually found a passion in sales as a manufacturing representative for retailers that sold to Walmart in his later years. Despite his interesting career history, Harry was known more for being a passionate sportsman. If he wasn't spending time with his family you would either find him hunting, fishing or riding a bike. When he was with his daughter, he was teaching her how to play basketball or football or how to ride a bike or skateboard. He was just as passionate about the Denver Broncos, enjoying season tickets with his brother and sharing that passion with his daughter Leslie who remains a die hard fan to this day. And boy everyone knew to watch out if the Broncos lost, you did not want to be around Harry until the next day! Later in life he also became a huge Colorado Avalanche fan. Despite these hobbies, Harry was most passionate about his family and friends. Harry's parents both died young, and he remained extremely close to his Brother and his family. You would find him almost every Sunday at his Brother's house (with Leslie in tow) watching either the Bronco's or another sport if they weren't playing that day. Harry's personality was larger than life. He never held back his opinions (to put it mildly) and you always knew what he was thinking. He was passionate about politics, a subject his wife and daughter quickly learned to avoid at family meals unless you wanted to agree with him. Better known simply as "Skin" to his close friends, they would describe him as someone who would drop everything to help them out, no questions asked, and loved to give folks a hard time. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. Later in life he developed a close knit group of friends that would meet weekly at Sam's 3 restaurant in Denver, which he missed dearly when he moved to Boise. Besides his wife, his greatest loves were his daughter, grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. He was so proud of them all, and would brag to anyone about them any chance he got.

Mary Ellen Johnson Voshell

Mary Ellen's family is grateful to so many dear friends who provided support and encouragement throughout the years as well as to the devoted medical personnel who cared for her, including St. Luke's SICU, St. Luke's Palliative Care, St. Luke's Wound Clinic, and Dr. Stephanie Fry. Mary Ellen's friends with Mended Hearts of Boise, Chapter 380 are saddened to learn of her passing but thankful to the Lord for providing her freedom at last from the sicknesses she endured while here with us on earth. We are grateful for her leadership which first started this Mended Hearts Chapter and her tenacity and enthusiasm which has helped it to thrive. Mary Ellen was such a light in the lives of many, including myself. Such a profound loss for the Boise community, Mended Hearts 380, and certainly her family and many friends. My sincerest condolences to her family, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. God called you home because he needed another Angel, and he certainly got one. Mary Ellen was one of the pillars of this community. She was a smart brave woman. At one time, she was the local representataive for an exchange program. I mostly knew her from Junior League and from teaching , though I was an English teacher at a different school., One day she called and asked if we could host a young woman who had been placed in an inappropriate home. We agreed and spent a lovely summer with Fleur from Paris, France. I was ever grateful that she thought of us to Host. She touched so many lives through her various volunteer work. Fewer women take on so much today. KInd of a vanishing path for yunger women. It is difficult to lose a famiy member, but memories of her and her efforts in the community ive on. My condolences to her families and friends.

Michael (Poz) Poznick

Michael (Poz) Poznick Jr passed away peacefully from complications of pneumonia on April 2, 2024. He was born on December 19, 1952, at Mountain Home Air Force Base. Poz graduated from Boise high school in 1970 and went on to BSU for marketing and PE. Keeping in contact with family and friends brought him great joy. He had a book full of phone numbers that he would go down the list calling probably once a week. Poz would set up a family picnic every couple of years to get all the cousins and kids together. When he went to the assisted living facility, calling was a huge part of a social life. My guess is that at least 50% of the people here today we're on that list. He would always ask how is the wife and kids. He could remember things he did with you 50 years ago in great detail. It left you thinking, how did he remember that? Poz had a love of the outdoors from running, hiking, skiing, hunting, fishing and kayaking. I can remember him blasting ducks with the best hunting dog he ever had "Spook "But his favorite was walking fields and ditch banks for pheasants. He and his buddies were avid kayakers before kayaking was cool. He kayaked from the Lochsaw to Hells Canyon, all the Salmon Rivers to of course the Payette. Oh, how he loved music. Playing his cassette tape of Roseanne Cash's song Seven Year Ache, then rewind it to play it repeatedly. His favorite artist was Bob Dylan, back when you could understand the words he was singing. Poz told his brother John that when he graduated from Boise High the vice principal and a lot of his teachers were glad to see him go. He told him the story about attending a pep rally. To prepare he went downtown to Newberrys and purchased six live white mice and put them in a paper lunch sack. When students were piling into the gym, he went up into the bleachers to talk to some of the girls on the drill team squad and left the sack at their feet. Halfway through the pep rally the mice worked their way out and he said he hadn't heard girls scream like that since the Beatles landed in America. We are sure that everyone has at least one Poz story. It's hard to believe how many things Poz did in the 70s. In 1970 he hitchhiked from Boise through Canada all the way to Florida. Got home and rode his bike from Boise to McCall. Traveled to Australia and New Zealand plus three trips to Europe. He was instrumental with the start of men's soccer in the Treasure Valley. Serving as Director of the first soccer league and captain of the BSU soccer club for four years in the early to mid 70s. He had a love for soccer all his life, even after he couldn't play anymore himself without pulling a hammy or throwing a hip. He worked at all the Brass Lamp locations and became part owner at the McCall Lamp around 1976. That is where many of his lifelong friends were made and countless people said, "I used to work for Poz back in the day." His 12 years at the Lamp gave him the ability to critique pizzas from any other pizza joint. Even though back in the 70s you didn't have a choice of crust, to this day it's still the best crust we have ever had. The Davidson's were his second family and Rod Sr was like a father to him. Your love and kindness will never be forgotten. He struggled with mental illness over half his life, but his kindness and do anything for you attitude lasted his whole life. Poz you will be missed by so many. Poz is survived by his sister Kathy Cherry and brother John Poznick (Mary Lin) multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Michael "Archie" Poznick Sr (Bernice) and mother Zoy Alene McKercher (Claude).
