Bristol India, a family concern, was incepted for manufacturing Ink Writing Papers, technically known as Recording Charts. These were used primarily in powerhouses and steel plants. In a short span of two years, the company went on to produce High Technique Papers for Bhabha Atomic Research Center and also Papers for the Research Unit of the Indian Railways, known as R.D.S.O. (Research Designing Standard Organization). It was for the first time that an Indian company had developed Special Graph Papers for these organizations. Bristol went a step further to develop Special Graph Papers for Designing Purposes for the above organizations as well. By this time Bristol had become a well-known name in the market and had established its products under the brand name "Alliance".
