Chism Beach Park

BRH provided topographic mapping, from the waterline to the uplands boundary, to support landscape improvements for the 18-acre, City of Bellevue park. Our scope included all locatable utilities, trails, the parking area, the dock, retaining walls and beach areas.

Dakin A. Bell

Job Titles:

Dakin has been land surveying since 1988, and with BRH since 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in land surveying from the Oregon Institute of Technology. Dakin has held a State of Washington Professional Land Surveyor license since 2001. Professional Overview Dakin started surveying with the National Geodetic Survey as a GPS observer in 1988, giving him the opportunity to visit many parts of the country through 1990. After graduating from college, he moved to the San Juan Islands and surveyed for a year on Orcas Island, before moving to Seattle in 1992. He has held all survey positions throughout his 28-year career. He says that the best part of Land Surveying is the outdoor element associated with the job and the ever-changing challenges associated with the profession. Personal Dakin and his wife Erin, enjoy their two daughters, two dogs and all the adventures associated with them. "When I am not surveying I enjoy spending time with my family on the family-owned property located near Lake Roosevelt in eastern Washington. Growing up in eastern Oregon I have come to appreciate the late summer, fall, and winter as my favorite times of the year as I spend as much time as possible outdoors with our dogs, training them in the art of pointing towards upland game birds. I also enjoy alpine skiing in brand new powder snow, cycling and running and keeping myself somewhat fit, so I can keep up with my girls, and the dogs."

Hansen Creek

This project, near Sedro-Woolley, restored the creek. We provided the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe and Snohomish County with 1.5-miles of mapping along a 300-foot wide swath, depicting stream profiles, and the alluvial fan sediment profile. Extensive coordination with the ecologic team, the Tribe and farmers along the stream was required.

James M. Harper

James began his surveying career with BRH in 1998. He has held a State of Washington Professional Land Surveyor license since 2008. Professional Overview James started surveying as a chainman and instrument man, enjoying 10 years of field work as a crew chief before transitioning to the office and gaining his professional license. His field experience includes all aspects of boundary determination and mapping work, as well as commercial construction and high rise building layouts. James draws from his extensive field background and expertise to ensure that field crews and office technicians working on his projects are well supported right through to the delivery phase. He also makes a point to ensure that current technologies are seamlessly blended with a respect for traditional standards and techniques. Personal "My wife Danielle and I keep busy raising our two sons and being involved in their activities. An example is our support for local youth soccer and basketball teams. Oliver Q. Robar

Oliver has been surveying in the field and in the office since 1997, and with BRH since 2005. He earned his State of Washington Professional Land Surveyor license in 2008. Professional Overview Oliver's survey career began after graduating from Bellingham Technical College with a degree in Land Surveying. He has surveyed in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Maryland, California, and even parts of Canada. His history of projects range from large earthwork and infrastructure assignments to commercial development, to environmental and residential lot surveys. His current focus is on the urban aspect of surveying.

Scott Edwards

Scott has never been one to accept the status quo. For as long as he can remember, he has always pursued a philosophy of continual learning. Scott is Professional Land Surveyor licensed in Washington (2004) and Oregon (2015). He is also a Certified Federal Surveyor (2012). However, his interests are not limited to surveying. Scott also holds an MBA from City University and a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Washington. Scott's most recent accomplishment is earning a FAA Part 107 - Remote Pilot Certificate. Professional Overview Scott's interest in land surveying came at a young age. His grandfather was a prominent surveyor in Minnesota and Wisconsin, providing Scott with the inspiration to choose a career in surveying. Scott took the first step in his vocation in 1995, enrolling as a student in the land survey program at Renton Technical College. Following graduation, he spent seven years as a field crew team member and as an office technician. At this point, Scott earned his first Professional Land Surveyor license and became a project manager serving multiple public and private sector clients. Scott has boundary, topographic, utility, ALTA Land Title Survey, subdivision, lot boundary adjustment, condominium, corridor, construction, and monitoring survey expertise, plus he has established multiple control networks. Finally, Scott feels it is important to give back to the professional community that has always been there for him and provided him with support along his chosen career path. He is a past President and current active member of the North Puget Sound Chapter of the Land Surveyors' Association of Washington and is currently the Chairperson for the Advisory Committee for the Land Survey/Geospatial Science program at Renton Technical College. Personal "I enjoy the landscapes and cultural diversity found all over the Pacific Northwest. I love to get off the beaten path and explore the backcountry and small towns that can be found throughout this magnificent area. Getting out by motorcycle, car, bicycle, or just using my own two feet makes for a great day. The spectacular scenery of this area can be absolutely awe-inspiring and many of the people one encounters have the most incredible stories on how they live their lives. Plus, it is always fun to talk with people who have ties to the land. The history they share and their insights on life make each of these small adventures unforgettable. To me, the journey is the destination."

Sue C. Chandler

My BRH adventure started in October 1987. Since then I have held various roles such as receptionist, typist, proof reader, filing clerk, archivist, marketing specialist, and survey accounts receivable. Professional Overview I enjoy working in a family atmosphere and that is what it is like at BRH. My fellow employees are some of the best people I have worked with and for that reason I look forward to coming to work every day. It's great to be in a team environment where everyone works together and we all strive to come up with a solution together. Teamwork and an awesome environment is why I enjoy working at BRH! Personal "In my opinion we live in one of the most beautiful states in the US. For the past several years I have been hiking the various trails Washington has to offer. I absolutely love being in the mountains. I also enjoy fishing for salmon and steelhead. My favorite type of fishing on our various rivers is from a drift boat - nothing like a tug on your line to get your heart pumping a little faster. I also enjoy watching our Seahawks, Mariners and trying new restaurants. "

Susan J. Jablinske

Susan has been with BRH since 1990. She oversees all administrative aspects of the corporation including finances, human resources, corporate insurance, and operational policies. Professional Overview Susan graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in history. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Professionals (SHRM). Susan has seen BRH grow since she came on board, and more importantly, she has been part of that growth as a financial and HR specialist, and as a leader. Susan's expertise is in developing the systems and processes that have maintained financial and operational stability, and fostered a great working environment for all employees.

Taylor R. Schulte

Taylor has been involved in land surveying since 1996, and with BRH since 2006. He holds Professional Land Surveyor licenses in three states - Washington (2008), Oregon (2011), and Minnesota (2012). Taylor is a graduate of St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and is a member of the Land Surveyor's Association of Washington (LSAW). Professional Overview Taylor enjoys working on all aspects of land surveying. He is skilled in ALTA surveying, topographic mapping, condominium creation as well as land use surveys which include plats and lot boundary adjustments. Taylor's open approach to communication leads to keeping clients well informed on the status of their projects as well as helping them navigate through local jurisdiction permitting. Personal "Like many people living in the Northwest, I enjoy the outdoors. Living in Snoqualmie gives my family and I immediate access to the mountains and rivers we like to hike and fish. Though some consider it work, I also enjoy yard work and home repair. I find this relaxing and get a sense of achievement when I have a finished project."

Ted F. Dimof

Ted has been preparing civil engineering designs and construction documents since 1993 and has been with BRH since 2001. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Washington and has held a State of Washington Professional Engineering license since 1999. He is also registered in the State of Montana.

Tom E. Carner

Tom has been involved in land surveying since 1991, and with BRH since 2007. He has held a State of Washington Professional Land Surveyor license since 2010.

Victory Creek Park

This 1.3-acre park fronts on a branch of Seattle's Thornton Creek. The scope included multiple agency coordination for utility easements, parcel donation, street vacation, and street dedication. In addition, streets were re-configured at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue NE & Pinehurst Way NE.
