Dr. Emily Weidhaas

Dr. Emily Weidhaas has a Bachelor a Science Degree from UPEI and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2011. She joined Bridgetown Animal Hospital in May of 2011 as an associate with memberships in the Canadian and American Veterinary Medical Associations and the Nova Scotia Veterinary Association. Although trained in mixed animal practice, Dr. Weidhaas has special interests in small animal surgery and medicine as well as avian and wildlife surgery and medicine. She has gained experience in small animal techiniques with externships in Florida and wildlife externships in West Virginia. Dr. Weidhaas has always had a passion for the care of all animals growing up as the daughter of Dr. Hall and Fred Weidhaas on a small hobby farm. Dr. Weidhaas has a passion for feathered animals, enjoys gardening in the summer and drawing all year round. She lives in Hampton with her husband and daughter, two rambunctious border terriers, Finnegan and Stewart and her cats, Charlotte and Wilbur. Wilbur was adopted after having a fractured femur from a car collision, which required immediate repair. We are happy to have Dr. Weidhaas' compassionate and competant abilities enhancing our team at Bridgetown Animal Hospital.

Dr. Susan Hall

Dr. Susan Hall is a graduate of Acadia University and University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College in 1980 and has been fortunate to have returned to Nova Scotia to practice since 1980. Dr. Hall began her own practice as St. Croix Animal Hospital and Bridgetown Animal Clinic in 1982 . Since that time the mixed practice was consolidated into Bridgetown Animal Hospital Inc. which has grown from a single person practice focusing on Small Animal Medicine and Surgery, to a three veterinarian practice with 5 support staff. Dr. Hall enjoys melding experience with new technology and information and happy to be able to work collaboratively with Drs. Patterson and Weidhaas. She is a member of the Nova Scotia and Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and also a member of the Veterinary Information Network, having access to board certified specialists world wide for consultation of complicated cases. Veterinary medicine is changing daily, with new research and technology, we now have tools such as digital radiography and improved anesthesia and pain management protocols giving our patients the highest quality of care. After 32 years of practice, Dr. Hall and the rest of the staff continue to upgrade their knowledge with continuing education and implementing new technology to enhance the compassionate care of the patients of Bridgetown Animal Hospital. Dr. Hall lives in St. Croix Cove with her husband, Fred Weidhaas, their Border Terrier Duncan and their loyal Labrador Retriever, Wallie as well as two cats, Boots and Carlos.

Fred Weidhaas

Fred is our 'Jack of all trades' at the Bridgetown Animal Hospital. You'll often see him running between being a receptionist, repair man, book-keeper, and office manager. Fred is no stranger to the Animal Hospital, married to Dr. Susan Hall, he has always been an integral part of the business as it has grown over the years. He received his BSc from King's College and worked as an entrepreneur in his own business, Round Hill Pewter, for 25 years. From flowers arrangements and giftware, to casting pewter creations, he still has people requesting his yearly christmas decorations. However, lucky for the Bridgetown Animal Hospital he is now helping the business run smoothly for our staff and clients. When he is not busy at the hospital, he is spending time with his wife Dr. Hall, his two daughters Emily and Sarah Weidhaas, and his many animals on the family farm. Their newest addition to the family, seen in this picture, is Carlos. He is an adopted rescue kitten who travelled all the way home from Cuba. Fred is also an avid runner, alongside with the Bridgetown running group and friends.

Marianne Marshall

Marianne is our extraordinary hospital assistant. She is often busy at our front desk helping our clients with their appointments and questions. She also juggles phone recalls, lab work, animal restraint, surgical preparations and clean-up. Marianne received her diploma in agricultural business with a minor in animal science in 1994 from NSAC. She then worked at Upper Clements Wildlife Park for twelve years as senior park attendant. She gained valuable experience caring for a wide variety of animals, ordering food, souvenirs and stock for the admissions building. She especially enjoyed caring for the injured animals; raccoons, skunks, coyotes, rhea birds, and white tailed fawns. In 1999 Marianne spent the year travelling abroad in Australia, and returned to complete a bachelor of science with a major in animal science in 2003 from NSAC. The following year she met her darling husband Jonny, and they have since been raising their two children Ella and Ben. Their family also includes several fur babies, including two labrador retrievers Daisy and Stella, two cats Pablo and Gnocchi, their rabbit Hop and numerous sea monkeys. The Bridgetown Animal Hospital was lucky enough to grab Marianne in 2010, and she has been an integral part of our team ever since.
