Charlene Stone

Job Titles:

Charlene joined Emera New Brunswick as Pipeline Coordinator on January 1, 2017. She is responsible for providing administrative support for Brunswick Pipeline operations. Charlene previously worked in a similar role at Spectra Energy for close to six years. She has a diverse professional background with past roles in tourism, software development and law office administration. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Saint Vincent University and a Computer Systems Analyst certificate from Halifax's Information Technology Institute. A native of Nova Scotia, Charlene lives with her partner in the Fredericton area. In her spare time, she enjoys making jewelry, playing with her cats and learning to play guitar.

Chelsea Brittain

Job Titles:
  • Management Systems and Assurance Specialist
Chelsea joined the Emera New Brunswick team in November 2022 as the Management Systems & Assurance Specialist. Chelsea is responsible for maintaining Emera New Brunswick's Operational Management System. Chelsea is an Engineer-In-Training with APEGNB. Originally from Saint John, Chelsea graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS with a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree. After graduation, Chelsea acquired a range of experience in logistics, management systems, and process improvement, before transitioning to her current role at Emera New Brunswick.

Craig Arbeau

Job Titles:
  • Manager of Operations and Engineering
Joining the Emera New Brunswick team in September 2016, Craig is dedicated to ensuring Brunswick Pipeline's ongoing safe operation. He is a Professional Engineer with more than 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Originally from Miramichi, NB, Craig is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick (B.Sc., Chemical Engineering). He worked in Calgary for a number of years, in consulting and operations roles where he specialized in the design, construction and operation of oil and gas pipelines and processing facilities. In 2008, Craig was fortunate to have the opportunity to move back to New Brunswick so that he and his wife could raise their family in their home province. Busy with two young boys, Craig is also very active in the community. He coaches both hockey and basketball and sits as a director with the Kennebecasis Valley Basketball Association.

Dan Muldoon

Dan is a past member of the executive committee for Cigre Canada - International Council on Large Electric Systems. He previously served on both the Transmission and Distribution Councils for the Canadian Electricity Association and is a past Board Member of the Cape Breton Partnership.

Dr. Nancy Mathis

Nancy Mathis joined the Emera New Brunswick Board in January 2021. She is the Executive Director of the Wallace McCain Institute (WMI). In this role she supports the next generation of senior business leaders in the Atlantic Provinces to meet the complex challenges facing the region. Nancy is an experienced entrepreneur as the co-founder and innovative force behind Mathis Instruments. Through her role at WMI role she combines her own entrepreneurial and innovation experiences with her teaching background at the University of New Brunswick. Nancy's personal mission to "build and nurture the most highly connected community of entrepreneurial leaders in North America" speaks to her commitment of connecting people and creating meaningful relationships, while her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering supports her calling to design practical systems, programs and frameworks necessary to undertake such a mission. Dr. Mathis has been recognized on a national scale with awards in innovation, entrepreneurship and engineering as well as for supporting others in those fields. She was honoured with the $100,000 Ernest C. Manning Innovation Award for the top innovation in Canada in 2003 and the R&D 100 Award issued to the top 100 innovative products worldwide in 1999.

Gabe MacMaster

Job Titles:

Gabe joined Emera New Brunswick in January 2018. Gabe is responsible for field maintenance and operation of the Brunswick Pipeline. Prior to joining Emera New Brunswick, Gabe worked as a commercial electrician in Nova Scotia and in Alberta. Gabe holds an Electro-Mechanical Technician Diploma and a Business Administration Diploma from the Nova Scotia Community College. Gabe is originally a native of Westville Nova Scotia and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, going to the gym, and enjoying the simple things in life.

Gary McLaughlin

Job Titles:
  • Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist
Gary joined our team in August 2020 as a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist. Gary's oil and gas HSE experience dates back to 2007 during the construction of Canaport LNG facility. He was also part of the Kearl Oil Sands Expansion Project, supporting the Construction Management Team as HSE Lead Advisor for a pipeline and utility corridor project. He also brings significant knowledge and experience to his environmental role from his years as an Erosion Control Contractor. Gary earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and has continued his education in the HSE field earning his Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) in 2010. Gary has served as a volunteer on a number of industry associations, community organizations and sports teams. He continues to support a number of causes in the community.

Janice Legere

Janice Legere joined the Emera New Brunswick team as Administrative Assistant in March 2017. Janice also assists with community engagement efforts.

Jason Kearley

Job Titles:
  • Manager, Health, Safety, and Environment
Jason joined Emera New Brunswick in May 2021 and is responsible for ENB's Health, Safety, and Environment Programs. Prior to joining Emera New Brunswick, Jason worked on various large scale industrial and construction projects in NB, AB, and NL. He gained valuable technical experience as an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Lead Investigator when he was a member of the Alberta Provincial OHS Regulatory team. Following that role, Jason transitioned into supervision and management roles, applying these important skills to lead teams of OHS Professionals for large companies who provide oil sands service needs in Northern Alberta. Jason has a bachelor's degree in Human Kinetics and Recreation from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He also has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Safety Engineering Technology from College of the North Atlantic and is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) through the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals. Jason is originally from NL, he grew up playing baseball, basketball, and spending time outdoors. His family is excited to be back on the east coast of Canada so we can enjoy hiking, exploring, and all things outdoors.

Jeff Maxwell

Jeff joined Emera New Brunswick in January 2017. Jeff is responsible for the field maintenance and operations of the Brunswick Pipeline. Prior to joining Emera New Brunswick, Jeff worked in a similar role at Spectra Energy. Jeff is a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician as well as a Journeyman Industrial Electrician.

John MacIsaac

Job Titles:
  • Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs
As Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs for Emera New Brunswick, John has management responsibility and oversight for all legal matters and regulatory compliance on behalf of the company. Prior to joining ENB in August 2016, John was Senior Solicitor for Emera Newfoundland & Labrador and the Maritime Link Project. Prior to joining Emera, John was Corporate Counsel for a large privately-held industrial company. John is also a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) having practiced primarily in the upstream oil and gas industry. He holds a B.Sc., Dipl. in Engineering and an LLB from Dalhousie University. He also holds a B.Eng. from the Technical University of Nova Scotia.

John MacLean

Job Titles:
  • Corporate Secretary, Emera New Brunswick / Senior Counsel, Emera Inc
John became the Corporate Secretary for Emera New Brunswick in 2018. Before joining Emera's legal team in 2007, he was Corporate Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary with the Halifax International Airport Authority and Corporate Counsel for Quest Software (Canada). John's in-house corporate practice focuses mainly on financing, public disclosure and corporate governance. He has worked on various projects since joining Emera, including Brunswick Pipeline's construction, regulatory approval and financing, the Maritime Link federal loan guarantee and financing and the TECO Energy acquisition and financing. John is a graduate of St. Thomas University (BA) and the University of New Brunswick (LLB). He is a member of the Nova Scotia Barrister's Society and the Canadian Bar Association.

Matthew Plue

Job Titles:
  • Operations Engineer
Matt joined the Emera New Brunswick team in February 2022 as the Operations Engineer. He works closely with both the Manager of Operations and Engineering, and the Pipeline Technicians to ensure the continuing safe operation of the Brunswick Pipeline. Matt is an Engineer-in-Training with APEGNB. Matt graduated with a dual degree from Acadia (B.Sc, Applied Science) and Dalhousie (B.Sc, Chemical Engineering). He participated in the co-op program during his time at Dalhousie, where he acquired a range of industry experience in oil and gas, construction, and biotechnology. After graduation, Matt began his career in consulting as a water and wastewater engineer, before transitioning to his current role at Emera.

Melanie Hartt

  • Regulatory Compliance Manager
Melanie Hartt joined Emera New Brunswick in February 2015 as Regulatory Compliance Manager. Melanie brings several years of regulatory compliance experience from the seafood and aquaculture industries, with a focus on food safety regulation. A graduate from the University of New Brunswick Saint John, Melanie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology and a Graduate Diploma in Aquaculture from the Marine Institute of Newfoundland. Melanie currently sits on the Board of Directors and is President of the Sunbury West Headstart Preschool Non-Profit program in Fredericton Junction.

Michelle Thibodeau Coates

  • Stakeholder Relations Manager, Emera New Brunswick
Michelle joined Emera New Brunswick in October 2018 and is responsible for community engagement and stakeholder relations. Prior to joining Emera New Brunswick, Michelle spent 15 years working in communications at a federally regulated national healthcare agency, where she developed and implemented a variety of high-profile public health campaigns/projects at national, provincial and local levels. Born and raised in Saint John, Michelle proudly calls our community home. She strongly believes in helping others and has volunteered her time to various nonprofit organizations over the years. She is currently the Chairperson of the Greater Saint John Community Foundation.

Nina MacKinnon

Nina joined the Emera New Brunswick Team in May 2014, she is responsible for all aspects of Emera New Brunswick's Operations Management System. Nina has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Utah and her Master's Degree in International Relations from the University of Vienna in Austria. Nina has interned at the United Nations in Vienna, and is fluent in German and Bosnian. Nina enjoys travel and spending time with her husband and twin boys.

Patrick Theriault

Patrick joined Emera New Brunswick on January 1, 2017, and is responsible for field maintenance and operations of the Brunswick Pipeline. Prior to joining Emera New Brunswick, Patrick worked in similar roles at Spectra Energy and Alliance Pipeline. Patrick has over 10 years of experience working in the oil and gas pipeline industry. Patrick holds a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry Science from the Université de Moncton, and is a Certified Corrosion Technologist.

Ryan O'Hara

As General Manager of Emera New Brunswick, Ryan oversees day-to-day operations, leads the team and works closely with key stakeholders in the communities where we operate. Prior to joining our team in June 2021, Ryan gained extensive pipeline and natural gas utility experience from the senior roles he has held in construction, operations, and engineering for a major Calgary based natural gas transmission and distribution utility. Ryan is an accomplished leader with strong technical skills, a strong track record in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, and experience leading significant capital projects. Ryan is a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) and earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick. After spending 14 years in Alberta, Ryan and his family are excited to be back in New Brunswick and they are looking forward to becoming involved with the community. Ryan's family spends much of their time active outdoors. Mountain biking, running and camping are some of their favorite activities and the family is looking forward to taking exploring all of these activities here in New Brunswick.
