Founded in 1917 by Oklahoma geologist and oil man Frank Buttram, the Buttram Petroleum Company quickly found success pioneering the use of geology in oil field speculation. Subsequent generations built on his tradition of innovation and diversification by expanding into other fields, including gas and minerals.
