Dr Joseph Smith

Dr Joseph Smith is a Canberra born Orthopaedic Surgeon with sub-specialist training in knee and shoulder surgery. He graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2003. After successfully completing his specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery in NSW and the ACT he was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011. His post-fellowship training then followed in the field of knee and shoulder surgery and trauma surgery. This allowed him to develop a high level of expertise in these fields that he provides to his patients at Canberra Orthopaedics. Dr Smith operates in both public and private hospitals. He has official appointments at The Canberra Hospital, Calvary Public Hospital, Calvary John James Hospital and National Capital Private Hospital. He is an active member of the trauma roster at The Canberra Hospital. Dr Smith is actively involved in teaching and education. He is the Australian Orthopaedic Association Director of Training at The Canberra Hospital. He is also involved with teaching of medical students from the Australian National University. Dr Smith has a passion for high standards of patient care, teaching and research. By integrating the theoretical with the clinical he delivers the best outcomes for his patients.
