A.J. Tell

As Vice President of Product Development, A.J. acts as the primary business architect of CANNEX ensuring that the various technical solutions align with the needs of clients as well as the overall business. He has also held various project management and business analyst roles within the business in leading the creation, development and maintenance of CANNEX products, services and solutions.

Damian Baboolal

As Vice President of Research, Damian leads quantitative research and consulting for CANNEX annuity services. The research team supports a number of critical functions for the business including annuity product analysis, the development of analytic services and the management of consulting relationships in both the retail and group markets in the U.S. Damian began his carrier with CANNEX in the actuarial department before transitioning to the research team as a quantitative analyst. Damian holds a Bachelor of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo with a double major of Statistics and Actuarial Science. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and an Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. He is also a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA). As a student, Damian excelled at the Trinidad and Tobago national math contests placing first and second respectively.

Gary Baker - COO

At CANNEX, Gary oversees the annuity and bank product business lines as well as consulting services. He brings over 25 years of experience in the retirement industry and serves as an expert on the development and distribution of annuity and retirement products. His international experience in the retirement business has covered both retail and institutional markets. Prior to joining CANNEX, he led product management and marketing for MassMutual's Annuity business in the U.S. Before that, he held senior management roles in product management, business development and marketing at GE Capital. This included leading their defined contribution retirement business as well as leading their corporate team responsible for marketing strategy for all insurance and investment businesses worldwide. He began his career in a variety of line and staff positions with various GE Capital businesses in specialized markets in both the U.S. and Europe. Gary holds a B.Sc. in Finance from Pennsylvania State University.

Jamie Branyan

As Vice President of Product Management, Jamie leads product management and operations for CANNEX annuity services in the U.S, which includes Fixed, Indexed, and Variable annuities. He also manages relationships with the various insurance companies that list and illustrate their products on the CANNEX platform. Prior to joining CANNEX, Jamie held a variety of managerial roles supporting annuity product development and management with Prudential Financial and Lincoln Financial. Jamie has an MBA (Information Systems) from Ball State University and a B.Sc. in Business Administration/Marketing from Manchester University.

Joanne Lui

Joanne Lui leads the actuarial team in the development of the calculation engines on the CANNEX Income Annuity Exchange which provides quotations and surveys in Canada and US. CANNEX provides additional services including custom applications that support the pricing and illustration of income annuities. Prior to joining CANNEX in 1995, Joanne spent 9 years working in valuation, pricing and asset-liability management roles at two insurance companies. Joanne is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). She received a Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) degree from the University of Waterloo. She holds the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designations.

Kimberley Muise

Kimberley Muise leads business development and product management for the suite of products and services offered by CANNEX Financial Exchanges Limited in Canada. CANNEX specializes in gathering, compiling and redistributing comparative information about financial products in Canada and the United States. Prior to joining CANNEX in 2016, Kimberley spent 11 years at TMX Group as Director, Registry Business for CDS (Canadian Depository for Securities) and Director, Content and Electronic Innovation for Datalinx, both wholly owned divisions of TMX Group. Kimberley also spent 7 years at CIBC Wood Gundy responsible for product management of the full-service and discount brokerage businesses. Kimberley studied at The University of Western Ontario and earned a degree in Mathematics and Statistics.

Lowell Aronoff - CEO

Lowell Aronoff is CEO of CANNEX Financial Exchanges Limited, an organization that facilitates the sale of a variety of financial products by providing data, transactional capabilities and analytical tools for holistic retirement income planning. Lowell started his career at CANNEX more than 30 years ago as an actuarial programmer developing a system to allow advisors to survey the Canadian income annuity market online - long before the World Wide Web. With this background, he went on to run the income annuity department - introducing services that addressed insurance carrier needs for more efficiency in a declining market. From there, Lowell led CANNEX's successful expansions into Australia and the US retirement income market. Lowell has worked on retirement income related committees at several non profit industry organizations including IRI, LIMRA, RIIA, NAFA, CLHIA and currently serves on the Board of Directors of SAFE, a new non-profit educational foundation that is trying to help consumers make better investment choices. He has presented at many retirement income conferences and has published many articles about the subject in several journals. Lowell is a graduate of the University of Waterloo's actuarial program and holds a BMath. He also holds a BSc (Biology) from McGill University. Prior to joining CANNEX, Lowell was an actuarial student at Prudential Assurance (UK) in Montreal.

Roland Ho

Roland leads the project management team at CANNEX for both the Canadian and US operations. Prior to joining CANNEX in 2006, Roland spent 10 years at Revios Reinsurance leading various business units including financial management for the U.S. health reinsurance product line, competitive intelligence in support of strategic planning and software development in support of various business units within the company. Roland was also with Imperial Life for 7 years in treasury and financial risk management roles. Roland has an MBA (finance) from the University of Toronto and is a Project Management Professional.

Shayna Galante - Chief Legal Officer

As Senior Counsel, Shayna provides strategic advice and guidance on legal issues and strategy to the organization. She works closely with the Product, Research and Business Development teams in helping facilitate the execution of agreements as well as supporting the various growth initiatives at CANNEX. Shayna is also responsible for supporting corporate legal needs as well as compliance oversight and helps lead the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiative within the business. Prior to joining CANNEX in 2021, Shayna practiced law at Dentons Canada for over 13 years where she was part of a global team leading the assessment and resolution of conflicts of interest. She also has experience in corporate law, risk management and litigation. Shayna obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta with a distinction in Business Economics and Law. She received her J.D. from the University of Toronto and is called to the Bar in both Alberta (2007) and Ontario (2013).

Stephanie Magee

As Project Management Leader, Stephanie champions the Project Management Office (PMO) for CANNEX to ensure programs and projects meet organizational goals and requirements. She has implemented strategic portfolio prioritization, capacity planning and PMO processes to better focus CANNEX on its strategic plan. She also has oversight over the strategic project portfolio. Prior to joining CANNEX, Stephanie held a variety of leadership roles within the PMO space supporting financial services within Property & Casualty Insurance, Life Insurance & Annuities, and Banking & Credit Union technologies at such companies as The Hartford, Phoenix, Mass Mutual and Fiserv. Stephanie has an MBA and MSM from Albertus Magnus College and a BA in Communication from Hofstra University. Stephanie is also certified PMP.

Steven Waters - CIO

Steven Waters is the Chief Information Officer at CANNEX. Steven has more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry. Before joining CANNEX, he held poistions at Sears Canada, John Scientific and McKim Advertising. He received a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) degree from Ryerson University.
