Ash Jenkins

As a Career Counselor, Ash serves students as they process the questions and steps involved in their career journeys. She works with students through one-on-one appointments, drop-ins, and various career programs. As the Career Counselor for the Sustainability Career Community, Ash supports students who have an interest in careers related to sustainability. She also works with students navigating the law school application process and those interested in careers with a social impact. Her goal is to empower students to feel that they have the resources and supports necessary to pursue their career aspirations. Prior to joining the UVA Career Center full-time in 2023, Ash received her Masters of Education in Higher Education from the University of Virginia and also worked as the UVA Career Center's career counseling graduate intern. Ash received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Florida. In addition to having a range of experiences related to wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education, Ash worked for several years in the University of Florida Career Connections Center, which ignited her love of career counseling. In her free time, Ash loves playing with her two cats (Noodles and Junimo), playing video games and board games, and cooking. Brendan Boler

Brendan Boler is Director of Career Services at the UVA Career Center and an Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. Prior to joining Batten in 2020, Boler served as a faculty member at McIntire School of Commerce. His teaching and research focus on better understanding motivation, leadership and employee engagement. More specifically, he's interested in the cognitive and social psychology behind effective decision making, experiential learning, predictive analytics, and talent assessment and selection. Much of his research is conducted within the context of employment assessments and interviews. An award-winning instructor while at McIntire, he taught courses related to management consulting, strategic thinking and leadership. Given his teaching and research interests, he's also passionate about coaching students to achieve their peak levels of performance during high stakes employment assessments including: Behavioral interviews, Case interviews, and Case competitions. He previously served as an executive within Accenture's Customer Insight (Marketing Analytics) practice. In this capacity, he led teams that helped brand managers, marketing executives and advertising agency representatives combine storytelling, predictive analytics, and technology to more effectively create, execute and measure strategic marketing campaigns. His clients included AT&T, Cablevision, Cisco Systems, Ford Motor Company, Ogilvy & Mather, Verizon, and Young & Rubicam. After college, Boler served for four years as an officer in the U.S. Army. Brennan Gourley

As the assistant director of Pre-Health Advising, Brennan advises UVA students and alumni as they navigate through the preparation for and application to clinical health professional programs. Prior to joining the UVA Career Center in August 2021, Brennan worked as a Program & Advising Coordinator at the University of Lynchburg. While in this role, she worked with second year and transfer students as an academic advisor and helped to create various programs designed to support these students academically and socially. Student success is a passion area of Brennan's, and as a member of the Career Center, she is excited to work with UVA students in their discovery and pursuit of meaningful lives. Brennan received both her B.S. in Psychology and her M.A. in College Student Development from Appalachian State University. David serves as the Director of Employer Relations and Experiential Education at the UVA Career Center. He oversees the office's efforts in building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with employers and recruiters who are looking to connect with UVA students. Prior to joining the Career Center in August 2014, David held various director positions within the career offices at William & Mary and Duke University. Before entering higher education, David worked as a senior consultant for Ernst & Young. Elizabeth Wall

As a member of the Public Service & Government Career Community, Elizabeth serves as a resource on careers with a social impact. She also provides support around the law school application process. Elizabeth's journey in higher education began at Christopher Newport University as the University Fellow for Leadership Development. Prior to joining the UVA Career Center in 2019, she worked at Indiana University as an academic advisor with the Hutton Honors College. She also served as the graduate intern for IU's Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, where she assisted with the development of globally focused career programs. Elizabeth studied History and American Studies at CNU prior to completing her Master of Science in Education at IU. With her humanities education, Elizabeth is interested in exploring the historical context behind institutions of higher education and the impact that has on the present. Hannah Pede

Bio As a career counselor, Hannah supports students as they navigate the stages of their career, from exploring opportunities to applications and negotiation. She supports students in all years and majors, and is particularly passionate about advising students in STEM. As the counselor for the Science & Technology Career Community, Hannah helps students understand the diversity of opportunities and industries where students can utilize their technical skills and find a career that is fulfilling and meaningful. Hannah began working in higher education at Christopher Newport University as an RA during her time as an undergraduate student. She went on to work with international student services, student accessibility services, and orientation while earning her Master's Degree at The College of William & Mary. Before initially joining the UVA Career Center in 2021, Hannah was an Academic Advisor for Biology at VCU. While at UVA, Hannah also worked as the Assistant Director for Career & Professional Development in the UVA School of Data Science from late 2022 to early 2024. Hunter Finch

Hunter helps students of all years and majors with major and/or career development. He works with students in various capacities including one-on-one appointments, drop-in hours, and/or classroom presentations. As a member of the Exploration community, Hunter can help students who are trying to discover their major and how that connects to a career. Hunter also serves as the co-lead of the Career Peer Educator (CPE) program, overseeing 20 undergraduate student employees who help in the career development of their fellow students. Hunter also serves as the co-lead for the internal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) team within the Career Center. Prior to joining the UVA Career Center in August 2017, Hunter was a graduate Career Coach at the University of Kansas helping students navigate the career exploration process. He also worked with the Women's Center as the Men and Masculinities Intern, creating and delivering presentations to various student groups on the definitions of healthy masculinity and how it benefits all people. Hunter is passionate about helping students discover what it is they want to do. With a background in gender and racial inequality, Hunter utilizes an intersectional lens to better serve students who have been marginalized. Jonathan Fries

As the Associate Director of Career Communities, Jonathan leads initiatives in support of students and employers, with a specific focus on the College of Arts & Sciences. Prior to joining the UVA Career Center in June 2022, Jonathan worked as the Director of First & Second Year Initiatives at the University of Lynchburg. While in this role, he worked with first and second year students, as well as commuter and transfer students. Jonathan advised first year students (traditional and non-traditional), helped to create various programs designed to support these student populations, both academically and socially. Kate Melton

Kelli Sims

Kelli Sims helps support the UVA Career center's Exploration Team and Virginia Alumni Mentoring community so that students can build skills and relationships that assist their professional development. With a personal philosophy that, "you can never stop improving," Kelli finds so much joy in fostering the talent fueled by passion, in and outside of UVA. Kelli has a passion for photography, and that passion lead her to running a wedding and portrait photography business outside of regular work hours. Kelli also works as a dance instructor at the very same studio she grew up dancing in. She has always had a passion for dance and is honored to foster that passion in the new generation. She achieved an associates of science degree from Liberty University, and prior to joining the UVA Career Center this year, Kelli worked as a Social Media and Marketing Manager at a local brewery. Kimberly Sauerwein

As Executive Director, Kim leads strategic initiatives and pre-professional advising in the UVA Career Center. Prior to joining the UVA Career Center in May of 2016, Kim served as Director of Student Success and Retention at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire and Assistant Director of Career Services at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Her background in academic advising, intercultural education, and assessment in college student development serve as a foundation for career development practice at UVA.

Kristi Rolf

As a Career Fellow, Kristi works with the Exploration Community through logistics and programming support. This includes representing the Career Center at Orientation and managing Career Center outreach through first-year COLA seminars and other groups across Grounds Kristi believes that experiential learning is essential for personal and professional development. Prior to joining the Career Center, she worked in the Offices of Admissions and Orientation as a student at Roanoke College. Kristi also conducted research in the psychology department which focused on sense of purpose in college students. All of these experiences gave her a passion for helping students find their place and thrive in college. She is excited to apply her experiences in higher education to serve UVA students! As the Senior Assistant Director of Pre-Health Advising, Kyle advises UVA students and alumni to help them reach their goals in clinical healthcare. She graduated from University of Lynchburg in 2016 with a degree in Communication Studies before pursuing her Master's Degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs at University of South Carolina, which she completed in 2018. Before joining the team at UVA in 2019, she served as a Graduate Assistant in the Career Center at USC and then as the Assistant Director of Campus Career Engagement at Longwood University. Before becoming a pre-health advisor, Kyle served in the Business and Technology Career Communities in the UVA Career Center. As the Director of Career Communities, Michelle is passionate about helping students discover their motivations, strengths, and values and applying those to their career choices. A journalist and writer by training, Michelle has transferred her editing and interviewing skills to editing resumes and conducting mock interviews. Her goal is to help students use their own transferrable skills to succeed in their career goals. Michelle leads the Education& Youth Development and Healthcare career communities and is particularly interested in supporting students pursuing careers in those fields. She also enjoys working with the Career Center's graduate students and student workers. Michelle studied English and Communication at Virginia Tech and worked for a few years in the nonprofit, newspaper, and technology industries before moving on to complete her master's degree in Student Affairs at the University of Virginia. Nathan Hunsaker

Nicole R. Hall

Nicole R. Hall, Ph.D. is associate vice president, career and professional development, at the University of Virginia. Previously, she was the director of career and professional development at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Greensboro, a minority serving institution with over 18,000 enrolled students, where she led campus-wide efforts to foster student career readiness and employment outcomes. She also served as the executive director of market readiness and employment with Wake Forest University's School of Business and as executive director of alumni and career services at Pepperdine University's Graziadio Business School. Dr. Hall actively contributes to shaping the field of career services and has held many leadership roles. She currently serves on the board of directors for the National Association of Colleges and Employers, a professional association that connects over 15,000 college career services professionals and university relations and recruiting professionals across the world. She has chaired several committees and advanced professional development as well as inclusion and equity initiatives for the organization. Dr. Hall is also a past president of the MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance, leading the expansion of the organization into Asia. Dr. Hall earned her doctorate in educational leadership and cultural studies from UNC Greensboro. Her research explored cultural wealth, social capital, and career outcomes for Black undergraduate women. Fostering equitable career paths for all students is an area of passion and focus. She earned her B.S. in marketing from Indiana University and her M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Nikki Elkins

Nikki serves as an Employer Accounts and Event Manager at the UVA Career Center. Serving mostly consulting and investment firms, she works closely with employers to form and maintain relations that create the best opportunities for exposure across grounds and with UVA students. Prior to joining the Career Center in 2024, Nikki earned a Bachelor of Arts in music from Longwood University and a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Higher Education Leadership and Administration from Old Dominion University. Professionally, Nikki worked for several years at the University of Texas at Dalla as an Administrative Project Coordinator for Residential Camps and Conference Services. While in this role, Nikki was responsible for organizing housing for individuals who secured internships in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex along with creating partnerships with the internship companies and sponsors. Nikki has a drive for efficiency and process management and is excited to apply her skillset in favor of promoting a streamlined experience for both UVA students and recruiting employers. Paul Paparella

Rebecca Coulter

As a career counselor and advisor, Rebecca is invested in helping students discover their interests and refine their skills through experiential learning opportunities. At the UVA Career Center, Rebecca leads the Internship Placement Program (IPP) which connects undergraduate students with professional internships. During her undergraduate studies at UVA, Rebecca participated in IPP and is devoted to giving back to a program that was transformational in her own career journey. Rebecca studied Psychology at the University of Virginia and worked for a few years on a labor and delivery unit in a hospital centered on women's care before going on to complete her master's and education specialist degree in counseling with a concentration in career counseling.
