CEMPD's initial focus on community-centric participatory environmental management has grown over time to include poverty alleviation, sanitation, health, nutrition, education and sustainable social development... CEMPD's overarching aim is to enable poor people, poor women and children in particular, to take control of their lives and have a share in sustainable development. To that end, the organization wants to provide active support for deprived communities, both in villages and low-income urban settlements. CEMPD seek to break the vicious cycle of poverty, malnutrition, ill-health, illiteracy, abuse and violence, affecting children and women in particular... CEMPD has started its career in 2002 as an independent, non-profit, public-interest organization focused on community-centric participatory environmental management.
