C. Matthew Shanks

C. Matthew Shanks attended Texas A&M University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. Following graduation, Matt attended Texas Tech School of Law. While in law school Matt received a Jurisprudence Award in his legal writing course and was selected to work as a teaching assistant for his legal writing professor. In addition to his course work during law school, Matt also clerked for a private law firm and volunteered his time as a certified mediator at Lubbock's Dispute Resolution Center. After graduation, Matt began his legal career as an Assistant County Attorney with the Williamson County Attorney's Office. As an Assistant County Attorney Matt practiced in front of each of the Williamson County Courts and handled cases involving family law, protective orders, and criminal law. In June of 2005, Matt left the Williamson County Attorney's Office to found the Law Office of C. Matthew Shanks. Matt focuses his law practice on criminal law and juvenile law matters. Matt also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Williamson County Bar Association for seven years and is a Past President of the Williamson County Bar Association. Since 2014 Matt has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas and is currently serving as its Chairman.
