Abby Simmons Byrd

Abby joined the team at Veterinary Imaging Associates in October of 2017. She is a 1985 graduate of the veterinary technician program at Purdue University. After graduation, she has been blessed with over 30 years of diverse career opportunities within academia, research environments, and the medical device industry. Her experiences have led to opportunities at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, Senior Large Animal Technician; Purdue University Department of Biomedical Engineering, Research Manager/Quality Assurance Unit Director; ACELL, INC., Research & Development/Quality Assurance Manager; and WITKO INC., Quality Assurance Manager. Throughout her career, Abby has managed special projects and operations within the biomedical and medical device industry which have led to the successful completion of non-clinical animal studies, over 22 peer-reviewed publications, and the launching of products into the market that have bettered the health and li ves of both humans and animals. Her career successes mirror those in her personal life. She married her husband, Ron, in 1990 and was blessed by God to take up residence in Brookston, Indiana where they built their home and hobby ranch. Together, they have three children: their daughter, Taylor, and two sons, Hayden and Austin. The kids are all grown now, but the ranch continues to thrive. Currently, they are occupied with a small herd of Limousin cattle, a sow operation that produces 4-H pigs, two Labrador retrievers (Tucker and Ki ki), a Rat Terrier (Josey), and an Arabian horse (Shadena). Abby is an active member of her church and her hobbies include watching sports with her husband and catering with her mom.

Cheryl Hurd

Cheryl is a 1985 graduate of the Veterinary Technician program at Purdue University. After graduation, she was hired in the imaging department at the Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine. She worked as the supervisor in the imaging department form 1985-2000. While working at the College of Veterinary Medicine, she was responsible for teaching radiographic positioning and ultrasound principles to both veterinary and veterinary technician students. In May of 2000, she left the university to start a business with Connie Han. CH2 Veterinary Imaging Consultants, Inc. was established in May 2000. While working at Purdue, Connie and Cheryl co-authored three textbooks on radiology and ultrasonography entitled, Practical Diagnostic Imaging for the Veterinary Technician. Cheryl married her husband, David, in 1987 and they have three sons and one dog. Rylee is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is very spoiled.

Connie Han

Connie graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Purdue University in December 1980. After graduation, she worked in Indianapolis at Georgetown Animal Hospital until 1983. She married in April 1983 and her husband's job took them to Terre Haute. She worked at Heritage Animal Hospital until November 1987 when she accepted a position in the radiology department at Purdue University's School of Veterinary Medicine. There, she taught both veterinary students and veterinary technician students radiographic positioning and the fundamentals of ultrasound. At Purdue, Cheryl and Connie wrote three editions of the textbook Practical Diagnostic Imaging for the Veterinary Technician. In May of 2000, she and Cheryl left Purdue to start CH2 Veterinary Imaging Consultants. In her spare time, Connie enjoys her Dachshunds, clicker training them, and working in the garden.
