NICS background checks are usually instant or only take a few moments, but it some circumstances can take longer. (Get a GWCL to avoid delays). NICS checks come back one of 3 ways: PROCEED, DELAY, or DENY. PROCEED means we are good to go and the firearm can be transferred.
