Courtney Clayborne

Courtney is admitted to practice in the state courts of South Dakota and the United States Federal Court, District of South Dakota, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, 8th Circuit. Courtney earned his Juris Doctorate in 1989 from the University of South Dakota and has been practicing in a variety areas of law for over twenty years. Courtney has extensive experience in insurance defense, commercial litigation, banking and real estate law, construction law, contract interpretation, as well as expertise in trusts and estates. State Farm Insurance Companies, Liberty Mutual Insurance Companies, Safeco Insurance Company, the Rapid City Fraternal Order of Police and our very own Black Hills Community Bank in Rapid City, South Dakota are among Courtney's corporate clients. Courtney is a member of the Pennington County Bar, American Bar Association, State Bar of South Dakota, South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, and is a Certified Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. In addition to his law practice, Courtney is the President of Arrowhead Country Club, a member of the Board of Directors of Black Hills Community Bank and a past Board member and sustaining contributor to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Black Hills. Courtney is also an avid sports fan and local supporter. He has recently collaborated with Riley Weselowski and other professional Rush hockey players to create the Black Hills Hockey Academy which hosts youth hockey camps in the area. Last, but most importantly, Courtney is father of three children and spends his time following their pursuits and spending time on the golf course and at the lake enjoying the Black Hills with his family.

Hollie Smith is an associate at Clayborne, Loos & Sabers practicing primarily in the areas of domestic relations and civil litigation. Prior to joining Clayborne, Loos & Sabers, Hollie practiced as a trial lawyer in Nashville, Tennessee focusing on family law, military law, appellate practice, and insurance defense. Hollie was born and raised outside of Rapid City, South Dakota on her family's cattle ranch and graduated from Central High School. Hollie received her undergraduate degree from Augustana University in Sioux Falls where she earned a B.A. in political science. During college, she competed as a Division II collegiate athlete on the track and field team as a pole vaulter. Upon graduation, Hollie owned a consulting firm where she recruited for various agricultural companies around the U.S. Hollie then received her Juris Doctorate from Belmont University-College of Law. Hollie and her husband now reside on their family ranch near Scenic, SD with their three children.

Travis Jones

Travis received his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota in 1998. Following law school, Travis practiced with the Riter Law Firm in Pierre, South Dakota from 1998 through 2001. During his time at the Riter Law Firm, Travis had the opportunity to wear many legal hats. Travis has served as an assistant city attorney for the City of Pierre, SD, Deputy State's Attorney for Stanley County, SD, defended criminal actions in both state and federal courts, and represented both plaintiffs and defendants in civil actions. Wanting to get back to the Black Hills where he grew up, Travis joined Beardsley, Jensen & Von Wald in Rapid City in 2002. Travis joined Clayborne, Loos & Sabers in 2018. For the last 15 years, Travis' practice has focused in the areas of family law, civil litigation, and trial work, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Travis has also served as a registered lobbyist for several years, representing clients' interests before the South Dakota Legislature. In 2006, Travis was selected as the South Dakota Young Lawyer of the Year by the Young Lawyer's Board of the South Dakota Bar Association. Travis was also presented with the "Toast of the Trial Lawyers" award by the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association in 2006 as recognition of his work for his clients and for his dedication to improving the bar association. Travis has served on the Board of Directors of both the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association, the Board of Directors of the South Dakota Defense Lawyers Association, and as President of the local Pennington County Bar Association. Travis was born and raised on a ranch outside of Sturgis, South Dakota where his family still ranches. Travis and his wife, Marne, have three children, Hudson, Cameron, and Sophie. In his free time, Travis can be found coaching baseball, golfing, or boating with his family.
