Benjamin S. Tyree - Shareholder

Benjamin S. Tyree is a Shareholder at Coates, Battle & Tyree PLLC and devotes his practice to civil and business litigation. Ben regularly advocates for both individual and small business clients in courts throughout the state. He advises business clients with formation of corporate entities, purchase/sale agreements, contract and lease negotiation and drafting, collections, arbitration, and complex litigation, and serves as registered agent for many corporations and LLCs. Ben also represents individuals who have been injured in vehicle accidents and in premises liability matters, along with divorce, custody, and support issues. Attention to detail and creative problem solving are the keys to helping his clients reach their goals. Ben is a Virginia native, attended the University of Richmond and Wake Forest University School of Law, and now lives in Richmond with his wife.

Caroline M. Butler

Caroline M. Butler graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University. The U.S. Department of State awarded her the David L. Boren Scholarship. She lived in Dakar, Senegal where she studied French and Wolof. Caroline received her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law. In law school, Caroline served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Anita-Josey Herring, the Chief Judge of the D.C. Superior Court. Caroline also completed a large-scale report for the United Nations on war crimes in Latin America. In her spare time, she served as a legal observer for the National Lawyers Guild. Caroline has successfully defended clients against charges of assault, DUI, larceny, and more. She is committed to fighting against government oppression and police misconduct. Ericka M. Battle

Ericka M. Battle practices in the areas of real estate and criminal law. She has also served as a representative to foreign governments. Ericka graduated cum laude from the Douglas L. Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and then graduated with honors from the Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. She also studied international law in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Ericka is active in a variety of community and non-profit organizations in the Richmond area and serves on several Boards of Directors. She is passionate about defending her clients in criminal cases and fights for the best possible results. Ericka is never afraid to go up against the government and has been presented several awards for her zealous representation in courts throughout Virginia. John C. Moore

John Moore focuses his practice on business and commercial law, commercial real estate, creditor's rights and estate planning. He has a long history of transactional work for corporate clients, trusts and individuals, and is skilled at work ing on complex transactions. John has been involved in the purchase, sale and financing of hotels, shopping centers, office buildings and retail businesses, and has represented landlords in commercial tenant disputes and collections. He has also represented numerous creditors in both small and large bankruptcy matters and has represented national clients in the recovery of equipment. His estate plan ning practice includes living trusts and elder law issues such as special needs trusts. John has worked with a number of international companies on transactions in the U.S. and abroad. He served as chair on Washington & Lee's Annual Fund for several years.

Veronica L. Allen

Veronica L. Allen is an attorney with the office of Coates, Battle & Tyree. Her practice focuses on estate planning, divorce and family law, and residential and commercial real estate matters. Veronica is also a SCOVA certified Guardian Ad Litem for incapacitated adults and is passionate about helping families navigate the guardianship/conservatorship process. Veronica began her legal career as an associate in Fairfax, VA, before moving back to settle in Richmond. Upon relocating, she worked as a Closing Attorney and Title Counsel for a local mortgage lender, focusing on residential refinance and purchase closings. She then transitioned into the banking sector to handle commercial loan closings in an auto-dealer specialty hub. Veronica attended the University of Maryland for undergraduate studies, where she double majored in Psychology and Criminology, with departmental honors. While there, she was a member of the Primannum Honor Society and Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society. She was also a member of the UMD Treblemakers, an all-female acappella group, and Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity. Veronica completed her J.D. studies at the University of Richmond School of Law, where she served as senior member of the Richmond Journal of Law and the Public Interest, as well as the Community Service Chair of the Animal Law Society. In her free time, Veronica enjoys spending time with her family, friends and two fur babies, Winston and Champ.
