Comfort Sleep Systems was founded by Leon Bombalicki, a Polish immigrant who came to this country at the age of fourteen with little more than hope and ambition of building the American dream. He landed a job in one of New Haven's mattress factories where he learned the fine points of mattress making. In 1939, Leon opened the Comfort Bedding Company on Poplar Street in Fair Haven, where he and his wife, Lucy, started off making hand tufted mattresses from horsehair, cotton ticking and 8-way tied bedsprings... Comfort Sleep Systems has been building custom comfort for consumers in the greater New Haven area since 1939. We have earned a reputation for producing quality mattresses at exceptional prices. All of our mattresses are made of the highest quality materials in our own factory in Branford, CT.
