Burndown, weed control and fertility plans are being finalized as we find ourselves about 6 weeks from the beginning of planting. Which creates what I think is the making of our first dilemma for this growing season. PATIENCE. The first half of March has offered above normal temperatures with 80-degree highs showing up last week. Next week could be more of the same such that we are likely to get a good start on some spring activities that include Burndown and perhaps some fertilizer applications. The next thing you know is a lot of work is ahead of schedule and we have a pretty mid-April, and somebody is going to want to get a jump on the planting season. That is going to create our dilemma. With more acres expected in cotton this year, some folks will want to take advantage of early warm weather if we get it, and it might be justified to do some chores based on not knowing when the holdups are coming.
