Courtney Anderson

I am also excited to make meaningful contributions to both the field of fertility and the profession of Nurse Practitioners as they continue to evolve. I look forward to meeting you! Courtney Anderson was born and raised in Ottawa where she graduated with Honours in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program from the University of Ottawa collaborative with Algonquin College. She continued her training in the Operating Room Perioperative Nursing postgraduate certificate program at George Brown College in Toronto and started her nursing career as a Perioperative Registered Nurse at The Hospital for Sick Children. Seeking adventure and further graduate education, Courtney's passion for reproductive health led her to become a board-certified Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner following the completion of the Master of Science in Nursing program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon her return, she successfully completed the Post-Master Nurse Practitioner Diploma program at the University of Toronto to gain licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Ontario. Her pride for the nursing profession stems from her identity as a nurse and the responsibility to provide the highest quality care to her patients. Courtney's leadership roles include Professor of Nursing and volunteer mentor for Nurse Practitioner students as part of the Nurse Practitioners' Association of Ontario Kintsugi Mentorship Program. Courtney is a proud member of the Ottawa Fertility Centre. Her practice specializes in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), therapeutic donor insemination, and third-party reproduction. She enjoys collaborating with colleagues on quality improvement and program development to enhance the experience of both her patients and clinic family. She is also an enthusiastic member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Outside of work, she can be found spending time with her family and friends, most notably her husband and rescue dog. Her interests include listening to live music, watching old Friends episodes, and relaxing on or near the water, with lots of sunscreen nearby!

Dr. Aaron Jackson

Dr. Aaron Jackson obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Waterloo in 2000. She then completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at The University of Western Ontario in 2004. Dr. Jackson complete her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Ottawa in 2009, followed by a two year subspecialty training program in Gynaecologic Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at the Ottawa Fertility Centre. Dr. Jackson is consulting physician at the Ottawa Fertility Centre and an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital, as well as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. She is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and is certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound, and is the program director for the REI fellowship program. Dr. Jackson offers care in all areas of reproductive medicine with compassion, empathy, and just the right amount of humour. Dr. Jackson has a special interest in adolescents and young adults facing medical therapies that may compromise their fertility. She is the lead physician for the Fertility Preservation program at the Ottawa Fertility Centre and has developed strong working relationships with both adult and pediatric oncology health professionals in the region, ensuring the urgent fertility needs of this patient population are met in a timely manner. She has been invited to speak at many local, regional, provincial, and national conferences on the subject of fertility preservation and is an advocate for patients to ensure access this important aspect of oncology care. Dr. Jackson grew up in Kemptville, just south of Ottawa. She was happy to return to the Ottawa area after completing medical school and has been in the city ever since. Ottawa has always felt like home to her and she feels very fortunate to have been able to settle in an area where she can be close to friends and family. Outside of work, Dr. Jackson enjoys getting outside as much as possible. Whether it be for a run, ski, bike, horseback ride, swim, paddle board, or to just do some gardening. Fresh air and exercise make her happy. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is leading the Fertility Preservation program at the OFC and working with patients experiencing urgent medical situations that can affect their fertility. I find working with these individuals to be very rewarding as it is often a challenging and stressful time for them, and I am able to assist with keeping their hopes and dreams for a future family intact through urgent gamete freezing. The time I spend with them is usually relatively brief, but very meaningful.

Dr. Bryden Magee

Dr. Bryden Magee completed her Bachelor of Health Science at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She went on to complete her Doctor of Medicine at Queen's University and stayed to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2015. She completed her fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at the University of Ottawa in 2017. Dr. Magee is certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in obstetrical and gynaecological ultrasound. She is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. She is an Assistant Professor and the Residency Rotation Supervisor for REI at the University of Ottawa, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is the regional representative on the Specialty Committee in REI for the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada and a member of the REI Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC) committee, which develops national guidelines on standards of practice in REI. She is passionate about residency and fellowship education and involved in postgraduate teaching and evaluation. Dr. Magee cares for individuals and couples with infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, polycystic ovary syndrome, endocrine disorders, and primary ovarian insufficiency. She offers fertility options for many LGBTQS+ individuals and families. She is committed to regional outreach to help improve access to care for people who live outside of the Ottawa area. She maintains a strong connection with Kingston and helps facilitate satellite monitoring at Kingston General Hospital. Dr. Magee lived in Ottawa during her fellowship training in 2015-2017 and returned in 2021. She enjoys Ottawa because it is a wonderful city with easy to access nature, multicultural community events, and a vibrant music and art scene. She appreciates the strong sense of community at the Ottawa Fertility Centre and feels lucky to be able to work with such a dedicated group pf people who are all striving towards the same goal - helping people achieve their unique family goals in a safe and supportive environment. Outside of work, Dr. Magee loves exploring the outdoors with her family. They enjoy skiing in the Gatineau and biking together along the Rideau River and Canal.

Dr. Clara Wu

Dr. Clara Wu completed her medical degree at McGill University, her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Saskatchewan, and her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at Harvard University and hopes to bring an evidence-based approach to her fertility practice. Dedicated to research, Dr. Wu has presented at national and international conferences, and has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. Her past endeavors have garnered research awards from the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada. Her current research interests involve investigations and management of recurrent pregnancy loss, fertility options in the setting of endometriosis, and the improvement of assisted reproductive techniques. Dr Wu is also an Associate Physician at the Ottawa Hospital and a Clinical Lecturer in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. She is certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in obstetrical and gynaecological ultrasound. In addition, Dr. Wu is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. Dr. Wu's practice includes all areas of reproductive medicine, with a particular interest in recurrent pregnancy loss, recurrent implantation failure, endometriosis, and fertility options for single persons. Dr. Wu is fluent in English, French, and Mandarin, and is committed to providing a compassionate individualized approach in helping patients achieve their vision for parenthood. Family and friends have welcomed Dr. Wu with open arms and made her feel at home in Ottawa when she moved there in 2019. From exploring its iconic landmarks and museums to enjoying delicious food and festivals, she has enjoyed incredible experiences in the city she now calls home. She believes that what makes it truly special is the people who make up her support network here; that includes family, friends and wonderful colleagues, who have made Ottawa feel like a place where she belongs. Outside of work, her favorite activities involve hiking, cross country skiing, and traveling with family. Hiking through the stunning landscapes of national parks and gliding through a snowy forest on cross country skis can always put a smile on her face. When she is traveling with family, she enjoys creating unforgettable memories together as they discover new places, try new foods, and learn about different cultures. She believes there is nothing quite like the excitement of experiencing something new with the people you love most.

Dr. Delani Kotarba

Dr. Delani Kotarba completed her undergraduate training at the University of Western Ontario, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She then earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Toronto, completing her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa in 1992. She completed her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa in 1994 and certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers in 2009. She has been practicing reproductive medicine since 1994. Dr Kotarba served as the program director for the Royal College Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship Program at the University of Ottawa from 2002-2011. She was the Medical Director of the Ottawa Fertility Centre from 2014-2018. Dr Kotarba was the Chief of the Division of Reproductive Medicine at the University of Ottawa from 2013-2021. Dr. Kotarba is currently an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa and an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital. She is a consultant and founding partner of the Ottawa Fertility Centre. She is certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as a Licencate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Kotarba has received awards for excellence in laparoscopic surgery and medical education. She has been an invited speaker at both national and international meetings and conferences. Dr. Kotarba is involved in resident and fellow evaluation. Dr. Kotarba's practice includes all areas of reproductive care, with particular interest in in-vitro fertilization. A 37-year resident of Ottawa, Dr. Kotarba has practiced fertility medicine in the city her whole career. She has seen many patients create their families in Ottawa, and she has raised her own family there. Outside of work, Dr. Kotarba enjoys golfing, skiing, spinning and spending time with family. I chose to specialize in reproductive endocrinology because it is challenging and yet so rewarding. There is a personal connection with patients that grows during their journey. I love to connect with the patients and help them achieve their dream of a family. My favorite part of my job is seeing patients return with their children. They love to come and show me their precious family.

Dr. Doron Shmorgun

Dr. Doron Shmorgun completed his training at McMaster University, and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 2007. In August 2009, he completed a two year subspecialty fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (GREI) at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Shmorgun is currently an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa, an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital, and a consultant and partner at the Ottawa Fertility Centre. He is certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Shmorgun is also certified in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. He is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Until 2017 he was the program director for the University of Ottawa residency training program in GREI, and remains actively involved in education of medical trainees. Dr. Shmorgun is passionate about improving the care couples at the OFC receive as well as their experience of that care. His practice includes all areas of reproductive care, with a particular interest in in-vitro fertilization and male factor infertility. His research is focused on assessment of current and novel practices in fertility therapy and continuous quality improvement at the clinic level. Dr. Shmorgun is constantly striving to improve clinical workflow at the Ottawa Fertility Center in order to optimize patient experience. Dr. Shmorgun moved to Ottawa in 2007 after growing up in Toronto and completing most of his education in Hamilton. He has found Ottawa to be a perfect place to raise a family as it has a small town feel with all the amenities of a larger city. When he's not working. Dr. Shmorgun enjoys playing hockey, skiing, spending time at my cottage on a stand up paddleboard, playing tennis and supporting his daughters' passions for hockey and horseback riding.

Dr. Jenna Gale

Dr. Jenna Gale is a reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) subspecialist. After completing her bachelor degree and medical school at McGill University, she then completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and two year fellowship in REI at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Gale is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa, an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital and consultant physician at the Ottawa Fertility Centre since 2018. Dr. Gale is also certified in obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. She is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Gale has a particular interest in research. She has completed her Master of Science in Epidemiology through the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She is the appointed Research Director at the Ottawa Fertility Centre and Resident Research Co-Lead for the University of Ottawa Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program. She is passionate about the pursuit of research in the field of fertility with the ultimate goal to improve the provision of fertility care and fertility treatment outcomes. Current ongoing research projects are aimed at further evaluating the impact of gynecologic disorders, including endometriosis, as well as the impact of a prior cesarean delivery on fertility outcomes, and studies aimed at improving care for members of the LGBTQ+ community accessing fertility services. Dr. Gale has presented her research in the fields of gynecology and fertility at national and international conferences. She is recipient of a Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) SEED grand award in 2019, and more recently of a CanSAGE grant award in 2023 for a research study aimed at increasing the detection of endometriosis among fertility patients. Dr. Gale moved to Ottawa for residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2011. While she was somewhat familiar with Ottawa from frequently visiting close relatives in the city growing up, she quickly gained a profound appreciation for the city. Aspects of living here that she appreciates include the kindness of the people and sense of community in Ottawa, the ease of getting around (by car or by bike!), proximity to nature walks, hikes and biking in Ottawa and Gatineau, french bilingualisms and being close to Quebec. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, swimming and biking.

Dr. Justin White

Dr. Justin White is originally from Halifax where he completed his Bachelor of Science with a major in microbiology & immunology in 2012 and earned his Doctor of Medicine in 2016 at Dalhousie University. He then completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2021 where he received awards in teaching and obstetrical care. Dr. White completed a two-year sub-specialty fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa and Ottawa Fertility Centre in 2023. Dr. White is a clinical lecturer of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa and an attending physician at The Ottawa Hospital and is a consultant physician at the Ottawa Fertility Centre. He is certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. Dr. White is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada where he has been involved in the development of evidence-based guidelines for fertility care. Dr. White's research interests include fertility preservation, quality improvement and patient safety and medical education. He is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows. He chairs the OFC Quality Improvement committee and has been actively involved in the development and implementation of competency-based education for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. White's practice includes all areas of reproductive and infertility care, with a focus on fertility preservation, in vitro fertilization, sperm-related infertility and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. He welcomes all new patients to his practice and aims to help patients feel empowered on finding the best treatment to suit their values and family building goals. Dr. White moved to Ottawa in June 2021 to start his fellowship. After living in Halifax, his transition to Ottawa was made easy by the city's vast outdoor activities, excellent food scene, cultural diversity and friendly vibe. He and his family are happy to call Ottawa their new home. Outside of work, Dr. White enjoys hiking, biking, tennis, swimming, travel, exploring new foods and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Matt Roberts

Job Titles:

Dr. Matt Roberts is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery, at the University of Ottawa and is the Program Director for the Urology Residency Training Program. He is an attending physician at The Ottawa Hospital - Civic Campus, and a consultant urologist at the Ottawa Fertility Centre. Dr. Roberts has received extensive training in all aspects of male fertility and andrology, and is a highly trained and experienced micro-surgeon. His current clinical interests centre on the evaluation and treatment of male infertility including microsurgical sperm retrieval, varicocelectomy, and microsurgical vasectomy reversal. His practice also focuses on andropause/testosterone deficiency and erectile dysfunction in addition to general urology. Dr. Roberts currently focuses his research interests on clinical male fertility and surgical education and has authored several scientific articles and book chapters in these fields.
