Bain Spielman

Bain has worked in the printing Industry for fifty-five years. Working for Ronalds Printing (later Quebecor) for twenty years ending as head estimator. He then worked in sales in web printing for two years then moved to the paper business where he was employed with Barber-Ellis (now Unisource) for twenty-five years. Bain retired from his paper merchant career in 2007 after working in sales with Spicers Canada. Bain has been the Association Manager for PGIA since 2007 and is now a PGIA board representative for CPIA. The printing industry has always been very good to Bain and he looks forward to continuing to serve the print industry with both CPIA and PGIA.

Clinton Foss

Clinton has worked in the print industry for over 30 years and has spent the last 12 with Atlantic Digital managing the offset, digital, mailing and data services divisions. Clinton is Vice President of the Atlantic Printing & Imaging Association and is a strong supporter of the print industry.

Dan Mustata - CEO

Dan is the current PESDA (Printing Equipment & Supply Dealers Association of Canada) GM and has been actively involved in the Graphics Canada Expo for more than 25 years. Firm supporter of the graphics and printing industry and strong national associations.

Dave Potje

Job Titles:

Dave did his first typography work in 1971 (so he's been around for a while); current president of OPIA (30 and over on the board); current representative of the PIA; former member of the board of directors of "the former CPIA"; recipient of the CPIA Meril Prize (2004) and Distinguished Service Award (2008). Retired basketball and high school referee (honorary life member of KW board). Dave believes that associations in the printing industry are good for the printing industry.

Duncan Stokes

Duncan brings more than 10 years experience managing non-profits and has an extensive background in communications and marketing. Duncan was born and raised in Winnipeg. His career trek as a radio broadcast journalist took him to Thompson, MB, and Dryden, ON in the 1990's before he moved back to his hometown of Winnipeg in 2000, where he has lived and worked ever since. Duncan also served as a member of the Volunteer Manitoba board of directors for nine years, chairing its marketing committee for six years.

Gerry Lacombe

Gerry joined the CPIA as Association Manager in January 2021 and works closely with the CPIA Board, Committees, Association Members and Partners to build and strengthen the printing community across Canada. A 34-year veteran of the Industry including 28-years with the Domtar organization. Gerry has held a number of senior level executive positions over his extensive career. He looks forward to working with stakeholders across our diverse and continually evolving industry.

Jamie Barbieri

Jamie has enjoyed working in the printing industry for more than 37 years. He is the President and co-owner of PDI and is actively involved in the day-to-day management of the company. Jamie completed his executive development at the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University. He has served on both the National (CPIA) and Regional (AQII, AAGQ, ATFFEQ, AQIFE) associations in many capacities over the last 28 years - he is committed to supporting and defending print-industry-related interests and is the current president of the Quebec Alliance of Printing and Packaging Manufacturers (AQIFE)

Keith Valde

Keith has worked in the Calgary printing industry for many years. He is President for the Printing and Graphics Industries Association of Alberta and Director of Financial Analysis for CBN Commercial Solutions.

Kent Pizzey - CEO

Kent has been with PGI Printers since 2006. He is currently in his third year as president of the SPIA. Kent has been employed with the print industry since 1999. In his spare time, he volunteers as a hockey coach and assists with various charity events.

Loris Pavan

Loris Pavan, born and raised in Vancouver, completed his education at Simon Fraser University and began his sales career in 1987. Loris is a strong advocate for the industry, he is a member of Print Forward (formerly BCPIA) for the last 10 years, and currently serves as Chair for Print Forward.

Martin Zip

Martin Zip has over 35 years in the printing industry and is currently the Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Printing Industries Association since 2015. Martin is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a BA degree (1968) and a Professional A Teaching Certificate. He is a graduate of the Executive Development Program, Printing Industries of America, Airlie, West Virginia (1980 & 1981) and has previously served on the CPIA Board as Secretary-Treasurer and Vice-Chairperson. He is looking forward to working together with others for the advancement of the Canadian Printing Industry.

Richard Kouwenhoven - CEO, Chairman, President

Richard has served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Burnaby-based Hemlock Printers since 2012. Obtaining his Bachelor of Technology Degree from Ryerson's Graphic Communication Management program in 1996, Richard has 25+ years of hands-on print industry experience. Richard is proud to contribute to the CPIA and the greater printing industry in his capacity as Board Chair.

Rob Varnel - President

Raised in Vancouver, Rob started his Printing career in 1979 as a press operator before moving into Print sales in the mid 80's. In 1994, Rob founded R&M Trade Laminating Ltd. in Vancouver, BC. As a Past Chairman of Print Forward, Rob has served on the Executive Board since year 2000. He is always happy to contribute and volunteer his time to give back to the Printing industry. Over the years, he continues to serve on several other Executive Boards including withing the Outrigger/Paddling Community as a way give back to the Sport.

Ted Gortemaker

Ted is serving as VP-Operations at Premier Printing, a third generation owned family business in Winnipeg, MB. With his brothers Dave and Will, they also own and operate Valley Apparel & Display (textile printing and manufacturing) and PiQ Potential (student planning products such as school agendas). Ted has served on the board of the Manitoba Print Industry Association since 2016 including Board President since September 2020 and enjoys promoting the print industry with its many facets across Canada.

Tom Badger - VP of Sales

Highly driven, responsible and enthusiastic sales leader, experienced in attaining growth, fostering innovation and successfully leading change. Following a 25-year career in the publishing business with Brunswick News, Tom joined Advocate Printing in 2008 and is Director of sales, and General manager for New Brunswick.

Tracey Preston - President

Tracey Preston has served as the president of the Ontario Printing and Imaging Association for the past 18 years. Tracey has led many municipal, provincial and federal government affairs campaigns on behalf of the printing industry. She has acted as an advocate for the printing industry locally and internationally. As president of the OPIA, she established the first FSC small group certification for printers in North America and chairs one of the most successful WSIB safety groups. As a registered lobbyist and a Certified Association Executive for the past 25 years, she has served many other various industries including construction and real estate as well as charitable organizations. Tracey graduated with a specialized Honours Degree in Political Science from York University in Toronto and is a Certified Association Executive with the Canadian Society of Association Executives.
