Jimmie, Jr. is Vice President of our funeral home and has been with our firm since 1993. He is the organist at the South Hill United Methodist Church. He also holds funeral service licenses in both Virginia and North Carolina, is a certified crematory operator and a Notary Public for the state of Virginia. Jimmie is our President and General Manager and has been in funeral service since 1971. He was born and raised in South Hill. Jimmie has served in various capacities with many of the local civic clubs, including the Chamber of Commerce and as past chairman of the Southside Virginia Community College Board. He is also a past president of the Virginia Funeral Directors Association, Southside Funeral Directors Association, South Hill Rotary Club, South Hill Lions Club and the South Hill Shrine Club. He also was a past assistant Governor of Rotary District 7600, a charter and life member of the Southside Rescue Squad, a charter member and past treasurer of the Friends of the library board and the co-founder along with his wife Becky of the Mecklenburg County Public Schools "Lunch Buddy" program. Jimmie currently serves on the County Highway Safety Commission and is a board member of the local Industrial Development Authority. He holds funeral service licenses in both Virginia and North Carolina, and is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association.

Matthew Hite

Matthew Hite, son of Co-Owner W. Randolph Hite, is a native of Bracey, Virginia, where he currently resides. Matthew is a certified crematory operator. Prior to entering funeral services, Matthew worked in the telecommunications, diesel, masonry, and welding industries.

McKayla Smith

McKayla Smith is a funeral service intern and crematory operator. She is in the process of obtaining her associates degree in Funeral Services from Brightpoint Community College. McKayla was born and raised in South Hill, Virginia.

Mr. Daniel Carson Wilson, Sr.

Mr. Daniel Carson Wilson, Sr., age 95, of South Hill, died on Sunday March 10, 2024. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, the long time building inspector for the Town of South Hill and the owner and operator of Wilson's Floor Shop. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Thelma K. Wilson of South Hill; his six children: Karon Bailey and her husband David of Charlotte Courthouse, Danna Malone and her husband Ed of Lynchburg, Janice Braxton and her husband Ed of Townsville, NC, Daniel Carson Wilson, Jr. and his wife Vicky of Clarksville, Michael H. Wilson of Brodnax and Connie Hendrick and her husband Sherman of Brodnax; his brother, Bernard Wilson of Chase City and his many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including the 3rd and 4th generation of the Wilson family, Daniel Carson Wilson, lll and Daniel Carson Wilson, lV. Mr. James Thompson Burton

Mr. James Thompson Burton, age 67, of Brodnax, died on Friday March 1, 2024 in his home. He was a farmer. James is survived by his daughter, Elenor Hopkins and her husband Timothy of Clarksville and his two grandchildren: Dylan Hopkins and Savannah Hopkins. Services will be private. Mr. Paul Michael Nehme

Mr. Paul Michael Nehme, age 72 of Cuscowilla Lane, Boydton, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in VCU/MCV Hospital in Richmond. He was the son of Paul Joseph and Rita Hogan Nehme, a former officer with the Virginia State Police, a Game Warden in the state of New Jersey and the owner/operator of Rolling Hills Land and Timber Co. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, C. C. Nehme , two sons; Chad Nehme and wife Crystal and Joe Nehme and wife Korey all of Boydton, two daughters; Jenny Riddle and husband Jason of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Sherry Taylor and husband Earl of Manassas, VA, a brother Brian Nehme and wife Christine also of Boydton and nine grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory. Mr. Richard Allen Bowman

On Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, Richard Allen Bowman (59) went home to be with the Lord. He passed of natural causes while at his dream home in Boydton, Virginia. Richard was born on December 11th, 1964 in Pakistan to Richard and Janet Bowman while they were serving in the Peace Corp. After returning to the United States, Richard spent his childhood and early adulthood in Laurel, Maryland. Richard and the love of his life, Tracey, celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on March 1st, 2024. Together they have three beautiful daughters; Amanda Smith (37) married to Joshua Smith, Jessica Sewell (36) married to David Sewell and Elizabeth Bowman (32.) He treasured his three grandchildren; Olivia Smith (20), Colten Smith (14) and Charlie Smith (12). He is also survived by his three siblings: Randall S. Bowman married to Karen, Rebecca E. Dacey married to Joseph and Ryan J. Bowman married to Katie. Richard was dedicated to his nearly 40 year career in the insurance industry with 25 of those years spent successfully at The Hartford Insurance Company. He was a friend and mentor to many of those who were privileged to have worked with him. The love of Jesus Christ shined brightly through Richard in the way he loved and served his family, friends and all those around him. Everyone who knew Rich knew how much he loved the outdoors. He and his wife Tracey built their retirement home on Lake Gaston in Virginia where he spent countless hours on his beloved bass boat. His favorite pastime was fishing, whether it was from the bank, alone in his kayak or on his boat with those he loved. Rich will always be remembered for his entertaining stories and his deep wisdom. So many looked to him for guidance and there was never a time when Rich turned someone away. Although we know he's praising our Lord in Heaven, he will be tremendously missed by the many here on Earth who were blessed to have known him. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor. A memorial service to honor the life of Richard Bowman will be held on Wednesday, March 20th at 11am at Fourth Presbyterian Church located at 5500 River Road in Bethesda, Maryland 20816. Mr. Victor Wayne Simmons, Sr.

Mr. Victor Wayne Simmons, Sr., age 74, of South Hill, died on Monday March 11, 2024 in his home. He was a self-employed truck driver and a United States Army Vietnam Veteran who was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Simmons of South Hill; his son, Vic Simmons, Jr. and his wife Nicky of Lunenburg; his daughter, Amy Green of Chesterfield; his six grandchildren: Tori Simmons, Dustin Simmons, Lily Parks, Brody Parks, Kinley Parks and Ara Green; his brother, Marvin Simmons of Boydton; his two sisters: Dorothy Meade of Boydton and Lila Foster of Boydton and his many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Friday March 15th at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with full American Legion Post 79 military honors. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 P.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mrs. Ida Bell Harris

Mrs. Ida Bell Harris, age 95 of Brodnax, died Thursday, March 14, 2024 in VCU/Community Memorial Hospital. She was a retired employee of Kerr Glass Company. Mrs. Harris is survived by her three daughters; Inez Ford of Chesapeake, VA, Lou Mitchell of Charlotte, NC and Sadie Brown of Lancaster, PA., a brother Teddy Hargrove and a sister Cindy Williams also of Lancaster, PA. eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents George Hargrove and Sadie Macklin Hargrove, two daughters; Sandra Cromdy and Carol Parrish, four brothers Frank Hargrove , Percy Hargrove, John Hargrove and George Hargrove, Jr. and a sister Mildred Hargrove. Mrs. Johanna Muller Van Dyke

Mrs. Johanna Muller Van Dyke, age 84, of Richmond, died on Sunday March 3, 2024. She was a retired business mortgage consultant for Bank of America. Mrs. Van Dyke is survived by her three daughters: Yvonne E. Bales of North Chesterfield, Deborah J. Moore of Chattanooga, TN and Bobbie J. Bales of Ligonier, PA; her sister, Erika Kelly of Columbus, GA; her brother, Karl Heinz Muller of Iphofen, Germany and her devoted nephew and caregiver, Robert Van Dyke of Boydton. Mrs. Van Dyke was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Herbert Van Dyke and her daughter, Exther K. Bales. While achieving his Associate's Degree in Mortuary Science, Trent worked for Evans Funeral Home in Milford, Ohio. Trent was born and raised in South Hill, Virginia.

Randolph has been in funeral service since 1971, having served his apprenticeship at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home in Colonial Heights and worked in Richmond at the Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Homes from 1972 until 1982. Moving back to South Hill in January 1982 and partnering with Jimmie Crowder in 1984. He is a former president of the Southside Virginia Funeral Directors Association, former president of Tanglewood Shores Homeowners Association, former vice-chair of Mecklenburg Co. Visionary Board, former director of Friends of the R.T. Arnold Library, former board member of South Hill Chamber of Commerce, former organizational member of the Community Memorial Hospice, and coached twelve years of South Hill Dixie Youth Baseball. He currently is Vice President of the Buggs Island Telephone Cooperative Board, member of the Mecklenburg County Highway Safety Council, president of the Bracey Community Center, trustee for Kingswood United Methodist Church, serves on the Virginia Funeral Directors Association sponsorship committee, member of both South Hill and Lake Gaston Chambers, and is a Notary Public. Randolph has been married to his wife Kaye since 1976 and they have two children and four grandchildren and reside in his hometown of Bracey.
