Dr. Colleen Bray

Dr. Bray grew up in Brampton, Ontario. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo and then attended the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, graduating in 2002. Colleen practiced in Ontario and England before moving to Fredericton, which she now calls home. She joined the team at Douglas Animal Hospital in 2009. Dr. Bray is a co-owner of Douglas Animal Hospital. Colleen is married and has 2 young daughters. She is currently owned by her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Scrumpy and Summer Sprinkles, as well as two Persian cats named Groloch and Princess Penelope. Colleen loves all aspects of veterinary work, and has special interests in ultrasound, cytology, and internal medicine. Dr. Bray also offers care for small companion mammals, such as rabbits and rodents. In her free time she enjoys musical theater, choral music, crochet, and traveling.

Dr. David Jamael

  • Veterinarian
Dr. Jamael was born and raised in Fredericton, NB and joined the team at Douglas Animal Hospital in June of 2019. He obtained a bachelor of science degree at the University of New Brunswick before moving on to the Veterinary Medicine program at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island. Prior to moving to PEI, he was an active member for the Fredericton community, coaching youth soccer for Fredericton High School and the Fredericton & District Soccer Association. He also spent time volunteering at nursing homes with his St. John Ambulance therapy dog named Abby and at several of the local veterinary hospitals. David loves all aspects of veterinary work, but has special interests in integrative medicine and cardiology. David is currently owned by his two dogs Olive, a black Lab and his new addition Lennon (Leni) a super cute Corgi. He also spends his time keeping up with his young daughter Naomi. In his free time he enjoys golfing, soccer, playing guitar and the outdoors.

Dr. Jim Berry

  • Veterinarian
Dr. Berry was born in St. Catharines, Ontario. He has a Bachelor and Masters in Biology and Graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1990. He has special interests in Rehabilitation and Pain Control as well as Orthopedics. Dr. Berry is a co-owner of Douglas Animal Hospital. Jim is a past-president of the New Brunswick Veterinary Medical Association, and Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, and is now a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner and the president of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. He is also the Canadian representative to the World Small Animal Veterinary Association and the Pet Nutrition Alliance. Dr. Berry is a certified companion animal chiropractor, veterinary acupuncturist and canine rehabilitation therapist. Jim lives at home in the country with his wife Tannis who is a research scientist in Forestry, and has a daughter named Zoe. He is owned by his Boxer mix Toula, a Vizsla named Storm, a Dachshund named Toby and their latest addition Nala, the cat who rules the household. In his spare time he enjoys canoeing, cycling, skiing, and running.

Dr. Nicole Jewett

Dr. Jewett is our bilingual veterinarian and is from a small farming community in southeastern New Brunswick. Being a veterinarian has always been Nicole's dream. Her journey to accomplish this dream began at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, where she obtained her BSc Degree in Agriculture in 2001. It is there she learned the fundamentals of farming, animal husbandry, and agriculture. She went on to graduate from the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI in 2005. During her first 4 years as a veterinarian, she worked in a mixed animal practice treating cats, dogs, horses, cattle, sheep and goats as well as alpacas. Since moving back to Fredericton in 2009, she has been working exclusively with dogs and cats. She likes all aspects of veterinary medicine but has an interest in internal medicine, dermatology and ultrasound. Nicole and her husband Keanen have two daughters Isabelle & Addison. They also share their home with two Labrador Retrievers, Percy & Todd, two rabbits Sprinkles & Gus and two miniature horses, Ginger & Licorice. She spends her spare time on her small hobby farm, gardening and tending to her chickens and honey bees.

Dr. Sam Manner

Dr. Sam is very excited to be joining the DAH team. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College and practiced in the Simcoe County region for a couple of years before making the recent jump to Fredericton. She brought along her sheepdog Reggie, rescue kitty Kinder (egg), and her partner! Dr. Sam's favourite part of being a vet is the fact that there is always more to learn! The knowledge and understanding of veterinary medicine is always changing and there are always ways to improve and innovate. Sam particularly enjoys preventative and internal medicine, fear free approaches to care, and diagnostic imaging.

Lauren Legge

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Assistant
Lauren was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, but has lived in Fredericton for most of her life. She completed a BA at St. Thomas University before graduating with honours from the Veterinary Assistant program at Eastern College in 2018. She and her husband Mike share their home with three cats Bronx, Luna, and Twyla, as well as a ball python named Xerxes. Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as volunteering with Girl Guides of Canada.
