Dr. Christiane Jentsch studied law at the Humboldt University of Berlin and completed her legal clerkship in the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. She has been working as a qualified lawyer since 1998, starting initially with Reinke Duhme in Berlin and for several years in a corporate law firm in Potsdam. In 2006 she joined the law office Duhme and since 2010 together with Mr Duhme has been the Berlin cooperation partner of Cyrus, Makowski. She has a good command of the English language.

Dr. Christiane Jentsch

Dr. Christiane Jentsch is certified specialist in insurance law as well as in building and architecture law. Her key areas cover personal insurance law (medical costs, daily sickness allowances, occupational disability, life assurance etc.) as well as the law governing property and liability insurance. Clients include both insurance companies and private individuals. In the field of building and architecture law, Dr. Jentsch mainly advises and represents medium-sized skilled-craft companies and a leading elevator construction group in contract arrangements, asserting outstanding claims for payment for work, and defence against unjustified counterclaims.

Dr. Jan W. Petersen

Dr Jan W. Petersen works in the field of business law with a particular emphasis on commercial law and company law. His special field is the law governing distribution. This focuses on franchise, authorised dealer and commercial representative law. His work also covers legal areas relevant for distribution, such as real estate law,commercial rent law and issues relating to cartel law. Dr Jan Petersen was for many years the trusted standing legal counsel and representative for a series of international and medium-sized companies. He was also in demand as an expert lawyer in business law matters in many individual cases. Dr Jan Petersen studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Hamburg. His thesis addressed an environmental law issue at the interface between civil law and public law. Directly after completing his training in 1986 he began to work as a lawyer in a leading Hamburg law office, where he soon became a partner. In 2003 he moved to Cyrus Makowski Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft. Dr. Jan Petersen is a member of the German Society for Distribution Law and the Joint Committee on Commercial and Company Law of the German Bar Association. He speaks German and English.

Dr. Vivian Fuchs

Dr. Vivian Fuchs is a member of the German Association for International Maritime Law. She is admitted to practise at the German Bar as a member of the Bar Association of Hamburg. Besides her mother language German she speaks English and Spanish.

Christine Wegner not only advises companies on general civil law matters but also on all aspects relating to maritime commercial law, inter alia regarding the purchase and sale of seagoing vessels, shipfinancing questions relating to charter and shipmanagement contracts. Christine started her career as a shipping lawyer and has worked in the maritime sector ever since. She has gained extensive experience in negotiating shipbuilding contracts as well as registering ships and mortgages in all major flag states. She also focuses on travel law - particularly in the area of cruises. Christine is also specialised in data privacy law. She advises companies on the implementation of data privacy regulations within the company in general as well as in the context of specific projects. She was the data privacy officer for a large German shipping company for 13 years in which role she was responsible for the implementation of the GDPR. Christine studied law at the University of Hamburg and completed a Master's degree at King's College London (LL.M.). She has been working for the firm since she was admitted to the bar in Hamburg in 2004. She has been a partner and shareholder of the registered partnership since 2006. Heiko Koch predominantly advises companies, including renowned insurance companies, international shipping lines as well as providers of convenience formats, and has extensive experience in litigation. Heiko Koch's work focuses on, among other things, the areas the law governing distribution, the law governing commercial representation and insurance law, particularly the law governing remuneration of health care professions and hospital law. Heiko Koch also specializes in labour law and has made a name for himself in particular in maritime labour law. In several companies, he played a major role in synchronizing international crew management with the requirements of the ILO Maritime Labor Convention 2006 (MLC 2006). Heiko Koch studied law at the University of Hamburg and the Universidad de Deusto (Spain) with a focus on international private law. After an internship in a renowned London law firm, Heiko Koch completed another stay in London during his legal clerkship in the Shipping Department of a major international law firm, which was followed by publications. Since his admission to the Bar in Hamburg in the year 2008, he has been working for CMP. He has been a partner in the law firm and a shareholder in the Partnerschaftsgesellschaft mbB since 2017. Heiko Koch has also been a member of the management board of the European group of law firms Cyrus Ross E.E.I.G for many years. Dr. Vivian Fuchs specialises in international commercial and company law with a focus on the maritime sector. An essential area of her work, in addition to representing and providing general advice to German and international shipping lines, brokers, forwarders and issuing houses, is shipbuilding, as well as buying and selling of ships, registering vessels and ship mortgages in all major flag States. She also advises on all aspects of dry shipping, especially charterparties and bills of lading. Dr. Vivian Fuchs studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Barcelona. After a legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court Hamburg with stages including the German Embassy and a lawfirm specialised in shipping law both in London, she obtained a doctorate degree with her thesis on closed-end shipping funds at the University of Hamburg. After having worked two years at a lawfirm specialised in maritime law she joined our lawfirm in 2015. She has been a partner in the law firm and a partner in the registered partnership since 2017.
