Anne Morris

Anne Morris is a teacher, choreographer, writer, and performer. Originally from Decatur, GA, she holds an MFA in Dance Choreography from UNCG and a BA in English with a minor in Dance from Smith College. Anne danced with Brazz Dance Theater, a professional company blending Afro-Brazilian and modern dance, from 2002-2008, in Massachusetts and Miami, FL. In addition to performing with Brazz Dance Theater, she was the Director of Development and Public Relations for the company. Anne has been a part of Dance Project in many roles. She worked for the Dance Project as Program Director from 2011-2015, coordinating the NC Dance Festival before becoming a Dance Project Executive Director in July 2015 with Lauren Joyner. Anne is dedicated to promoting professional dance in North Carolina and spearheads the event coordination with artists and locations each season. She also teaches ballet and modern dance in the School at City Arts youth and adult classes.

Fay Poindexter

Fay Poindexter brings 40 years of accounting experience to Dance Project. She attended Rockingham Community College in Wentworth, NC, where she was in the Associate of Arts Program for Business/Accounting. She received her Broker/Accounting License from Dan Mohr School of Real Estate in Greensboro, NC. Fay loves people and is very active in her community and church in Reidsville, NC. Fay said she is "too uncoordinated to be a dance instructor for Dance Project, but she loves the staff and loves when the "books" balance each month!"

JAN VAN DYKE

Jan Van Dyke (1941-2015) choreographer, teacher, scholar, and community leader, spent four decades creating and showing her choreography widely throughout the United States and in Europe over the course of her career. Additionally, she founded and directed Dance Project, which runs the NC Dance Festival, Van Dyke Dance Group, and School at City Arts, from 1973-2015. She was Professor Emerita in the Dance Department at UNC Greensboro, where she served as Head from 2006-2011. Van Dyke was the recipient of a NC Choreography Fellowship, and a 1993 Fulbright Scholar. In 2001, she was honored with the North Carolina Dance Alliance Annual Award for contributions to the development of dance in the state. An acclaimed teacher, DANCE TEACHER MAGAZINE gave her the 2008 Dance Teacher Award for Higher Education. In 2010, UNCG honored her with the Gladys Strawn Bullard Award for leadership and service. The United Arts Council of Greensboro presented her with the Betty Cone Medal of Arts Award in 2011. The Van Dyke Dance Group continues as a repertory company, under the umbrella of Dance Project. Awards 1979: Metropolitan Dance Association Award for Outstanding Service to the Field, Washington, DC. 1993: Fulbright Scholar to Portugal. 1993: Choreography Fellowship from the North Carolina Arts Council. 2001: NC Dance Alliance Annual Award for Contributions to the Development of Dance in North Carolina. 2005: Copperfoot Award for Choreography from the Dance Department at Wayne State University. 2008: 2008 Dance Teacher Award for Higher Education from Dance Teacher Magazine 2008: Choreography (SPIKE) selected for Sharing the Legacy Conference, Masterworks of the 20th Century concert at Hunter College, New York City.

Jordan Booker-Medley

Kayla Stuhr

Kayla Stuhr is a multidisciplinary artist and designer originally from Glasgow, Scotland. She has a BA in Animation from Edinburgh College of Art (Edinburgh University) and has provided freelance graphic design, animation, and communication services for over 10 years to a variety of clients including non-profits in the arts, medical, and social justice sectors. Since relocating to Greensboro, North Carolina, Kayla has joined local independent film production company, 4 Leagues Media, as a company partner specializing in story development, writing, production, video editing, and art direction. Having come from 2 generations of professional dancers, Kayla has dabbled in street, modern, and tap dancing. As a firm believer in the benefits of artistic expression, she is honored to help further the reach of Dance Project's talented team in their endeavors to enrich our community through dance.

Lauren Joyner

Lauren Trollinger Joyner has a BFA in Dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Lauren has worked with Queen City Jazz Company, Nosi Dance Theater, and helped start and run Blank Slate Dance Company of Durham. She has performed in the North Carolina Dance Festival, North Carolina Dance Alliance, and the Greensboro Fringe Festival. She was privileged to also be a part of the Equity test run of the Broadway Show "The Notebook" the musical. She also ran the dance company at CC & Co. Dance Complex. At CC & Co. she had the honor of working with choreographers such as Travis Wall and Stacey Tookey. Lauren is so happy to be giving back to the community that has given her so much! Currently she is dedicated to providing the best dance programming at Dance Project's School at City Arts. This includes master classes, student classes, summer camps and the annual Dance Marathon fundraiser!

Magalli Morana

Magalli Morana, a triad local, has danced all of her life, cultivating a passion for choreographing, performing, and sharing the joys of dance with others through teaching. Magalli went on to pursue dance at UNCG and graduated with her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography with K-12 Teaching Licensure and a minor in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She became involved with arts administration and dance nonprofit work during her years at UNCG, growing her love for serving her community. She has had the opportunity to present research at the National Dance Education Organization Conference, and to perform at the Greensboro Fringe Festival, Greensboro Project Space, NCDEO, and in Cortona, Italy. When she's not dancing, Magalli enjoys traveling, visiting art museums, and exploring nature.

Vania Claiborne

Vania Claiborne is from Charlotte, NC, by way of Boston, MA. She holds her BFA in Dance Choreography and a minor in Business Entrepreneurship from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. There she performed multiple works including Bolero by Keigwin+Company, Conversations by Nathan Trice, and Rubrics of Lace by Christal Brown. Vania has performed on various stages including the Kennedy Center and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello for the 50th Anniversary of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Vania continues her dance artistry through choreography. Her work brings collaborations of the black dance aesthetic and modern dance techniques to give a contemporary voice to experiences intersecting society, ethics, and faith. Vania has set work on Joyemovement dance company, and presented work at Wake Forest Dance Festival, Fringe Dance, Wimmin@work produced by Andrea Woods, and Richmond Dance festival. Vania also currently serves as a Hip Hop instructor for Dance Project.
