In 1981, Brant Deaton purchased the former Green's Supply, a lumber yard and hardware store just south of Mexico, NY on Route 3. As the business grew, Brant recognized the need for a similar business in the village of Pulaski, NY. In 1983, he purchased the former G.L. Thomas & Sons Feed Mill in Pulaski and converted the building into a 3,700 square foot retail space with extensive warehouse and storage space... After experiencing strong growth in the Pulaski community, Deaton's became a member of the Ace Hardware buying co-op and was thus able to access the broadest assortment of hardware, plumbing, electrical, and paint supplies in the industry. In order to accommodate the resulting sales demand, the store was expanded into the former warehouse space, to a total of 6,600 square feet of retail space, followed by the construction of a 4,000 square foot pole barn for the warehousing of building materials. Deaton's grew from 3 employees in 1992 to 10 full-time and 9 part-time employees..
