Dr. Daniel Lefebvre

A member of Mass. Eye and Ear's Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Service, as well as the Center for Thyroid Eye Disease and Orbital Surgery, Dr. Daniel R. Lefebvre specializes in the evaluation and treatment of disorders of the eyelids, lacrimal system, and orbit. Striving to provide the best possible care-both clinically and surgically-for his patients, he has a special interest in tearing, including endoscopic tear duct surgery; trauma, including orbital fractures; cosmetic eyelid surgery; and eyelid and orbital oncology, including post-Mohs eyelid reconstruction. After Dr. Lefebvre received his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, he completed a rigorous internship in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, then ophthalmology residency at Nassau University Medical Center in Long Island, NY. With interests in neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, and ophthalmology, he pursued the field of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and completed a prestigious two-year fellowship sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), of which there are only twenty such training positions per year nationally. This training took place at Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School, Boston University School of Medicine, and Brown University School of Medicine. Through completion of a thesis and passing a written and oral examination, Dr. Lefebvre was inducted into ASOPRS-a select group of only 500 highly trained oculoplastic surgeons. As a teacher and educator, Dr. Lefebvre regularly instructs medical students, residents and fellows in clinic, the emergency ward, and the operating room. He delivers lectures at national and international meetings as well as on volunteer surgical missions. He recently lectured in East Jerusalem, Israel and at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
